Yellow. It's me again.

People should just calm down a little and stop being so defensive.
I suggest you look up Nietzsche ubermench
The rise of the overman

God is dead
First, that wasn't exactly the context in which he said it as far as my understanding goes(related to the ubermensch).

Second, people in its entirety don't believe that so I also liked to hear what they had to say.

Just that.
God is dead is the idea that god or religion is no longer a basis for morality thus most people will struggle to control themselves (your original post) the ubermench is the one who survives the period by creating thier own set of values based on human ideals its an aditional topic but very related
Ya. I understand you now.

And yup, the idea of the ubermensch would be badass to discuss but, sadly, I fear some people would really go batshit insane over that one.

YOU SATANISTIC BIGOT! WTF'S WRONG WITH YOU?! YOU'RE GOING TO HELL!!!

haha, jkkkkk.

No but seriously, I kinda agree with you. I mean, when you think about, humanity's notion of right and wrong have all come from religions. Or, if they didn't originate there, they sure as hell found a comfy home. I think the world would decend into chaos as revolutions and radical ideas of the human complex take hold on the populous. All this would culminate into a massive war - not between varying states but varying intellectual sects. If humanity survived such a war, you'd either have everyone living in a primitive state or a highly civilized society that builds a utopia of peace - however, this utopia would probably have some interesting characteristics, like underage sex/drinking, unethical experimentation, and open-marriages (if there are even marriages at all).

However, I believe in entropy, so even if a utopia such as this existed for a time, it won't be long till humanity fucks that up just like they did religion.
Well, I'm not sure if there would definitely be war, but I'm sure that large numbers of people would get depressed at such sudden change and the majority of society would collapse if only for a little while(there's something like mass hysteria, you know, though in our case it would be more like mass bummed-downness).

Without religion or spiritualism we'd not see the end of fundamentalism or extremism--but rather they would only take different forms.

Somehow I don't think we would suddenly devolve into a Fallout-like world nor head towards an utopia, but rather we'd certainly have a hard and uncertain time, for sure.

Leaders would arise to fill the void. There will never be an absence of someone or something to believe in, even if they weren't truly supernatural. That's what would happen. Then the world would become even worse because there would be so many "religions" and so many power hungry leaders that everybody would fight every other group. There would be no peace between groups, at least nothing lasting, until somebody found a way to unite 2 or more groups through actions or words which make him a better "god" than the guys/gals those groups currently believe in. It wouldn't be chaos, because chaos is completely without order. It would just be war, constant and bitter, war that would make the current religious wars look like rough housing among siblings.

I'm not sure whether it would be a good thing or a bad thing. You hear about all the bad things that religion has caused (child molestation, extremism, fundamentalism, anti-*insert religion here*ism etc.), but then there's the good things that religion does for people: charities, help for people in trouble and the random acts of kindness people do to others. And yet, shouldn't we do this out of a sense of morality anyway, instead of doing it to appease your chosen deity?
