I think the OP is making this sound too one-sided for me to believe it. Honestly i reckon that the Yogscast probably did some of the things notch mentioned, i mean they're hardily known for their mature behaviour are they?

That said i'm not sure if all of what notch claimed is true either. Either way this doesn't really change my opinion on either group, since it does nothing to effect me.

I honestly have never heard of Yogscast until this whole issue blew up. After looking into their channel and their videos... I still don't really know what they are, what they do or what their appeal or fame came from. Not slandering them, I'm just surprised that I've been playing Minecraft all this time and never heard anything about these guys.

That and people seem to have a problem with blaming and yelling at Notch for just about anything that's wrong- or if he ever does something they dont like. Havent heard the full story coming out about what happened yet. That said, a lot of fans seem to be jumping sides as soon as the other comes out with something to say when they could all possibly be responses to cover their ass.

"Notch: These guys were dicks
COMMUNITY: MAN FUCK THOSE GUYS!

Yogscast: Notch is lying
COMMUNITY: MAN, NOTCH IS AN ASSHOLE"

We're not getting anywhere.

Basically this...
Maybe we are all just too eager to find someone to hate, :\

notch is a total arsehole, he even admitted that the shit he said wasnt entirely well informed, and now hes issued a pathetic apology which is fans are just willing to accept because there great idol as spoken. i really cant stand the egotistical prick with his hypocritical and two faced practices.

just take a look at the responses from both sides, notch bitches all other twitter leading to the yogcast being attacked in real life by his rabid fans. yogcast- wait and respond sensible and maturely....yeah thos childish yogcast men how dare they present themselves in a reasonable manner
Opinion is invalid until you learn how to use the keys surrounding the letters on your keyboard. See those little lines and dots? They may turn out to be mighty useful when attempting to convey an opinion.

Read your first line and then read the above in bold and notice some hypocrisy here.
Regardless of you getting personal with the "You're the fanboy", I just want to say I don't even know much of anything about Yogscast apart from what was posted on here and I also have Minecraft installed on my pc so back that train up.

Base fact is, this was not trolling.
Yogscast is a brand as well as Minecraft is in their respective fields, had the Yogcast bunch turned and said Notch had been telling kids to fuck off and ruining their merchandise it would have been a serious hit on him and his reputation.
It doesn't matter if they did or did not do it, what matters is that it's said at all and without any real proof to support it like Notch said so in his twitter.
That's a very poor thing to do to someone you want to work with, especially since this is his first convention.
This small debacle will be what Minecon will be known for, Notch making an ass of himself and ruining someones rep regardless of truth.

Notch is a powerful force in the gaming industry and he should temper his words accordingly, thankfully Notch is at least humble enough to say he was sorry and admit a mistake. If he was any less of person he could simply refute their claims and watch the Yogs cast guys go down.
Well, I wouldn't say that's all that MineCon would be known for. It's going to be a major negative highlight sure, but it probably wouldn't spoil it. At least not to those who were either there, or only choose to remember the good parts. I agree Notch does have a bit of a problem keeping personal stuff off of twitter, but so do a lot of celebrities. However, I think the die-hard fans contributed a lot to it as well.

I don't really care if Yogscast is guilty or not. Notch handled the situation extremely poorly for someone who is the head of a now well known and well respected company. Instead of talking to them privately to sort out the situation, he decided to make it public and paint a target on them. It was a really dickish and potentially dangerous thing to do.

My take on Notch is that he made a ton of money from his over-hyped game selling more copies than it deserved to, thanks to more media attention than it deserved and more reviewer praise than it deserved. This in itself doesn't make him an asshole, but instead of seeing that he just got really, really lucky, he let the praise go to his head and thinks he will be a force in gaming for years, instead of staying humble like other independent developers that have found some breakthrough success.
Thats just it~ it seems that most people who don't like Notch don't like him simply because they don't like Minecraft or feel Minecraft is overhyped. Face it, you guys don't hate Notch so much as you just hate the game and want to voice your hatred of it as much as possible. Not that I can blame you for not liking Minecraft, Minecraft requires a sort of special mindset to enjoy, and if you don't have that mindset going in it will all seem like pointless crap.

EDIT: actually, it might not be so much that you guys hate Minecraft, but simply that you feel Notch doesn't DESERVE to be as successful as he has been, so you hope to knock him down a peg and try to put him in his place in the public eye..
I didn't dislike notch until his poor handling of the legal conflict with Bethesda. He shouldn't have even commented on it publicly, but he manipulated his followers into a frenzy of sympathy by telling a one-sided story, knowing that Bethesda's legal team would be too cautious and professional to post biased twitter messages to counter his.

And when Bethesda did release their statements, again they couldn't counter notch's un-professionalism, so their careful discussion of the actual legal issue got drowned out by childish finger-pointing. I don't hate on games for being hyped and having rabid fans, I'm genuinely happy they have something to enjoy; but I think notch did a bad thing by misleading his fans and encouraging them to make all these anti-Bethesda posts based on ignorance of the actual issue.

Judging solely by how the two sides handled the issue it seems that the Yogcast fellas are taking the high road on the matter. Meanwhile, Notch took to Twitter to whine like some butt hurt little girl. Taking to Twitter over a business matter like that is unacceptable regardless of what may have happened at his convention. It is simply horrible form to air out professional matters like that with random strangers that have so little going on in their own lives they feel the need to follow you on some social networking site.

The fact he backed off it and apologized for doing so after the fact means fuck all. Regardless of what may or may not have happened at the convention Notch looks like a total ***** for taking the matter to Twitter like he did. It was a business matter and should have been handled as such. Even if what he claims happened is true he looks far worse for handling the matter as he did. I hope people see this and keep this in mind before getting doing any business dealings with Notch or Mojang in the future.

I agree with Notch here. (This last line I mean.)
Really, this is the biggest problem I have with Notch. He brings EVERYTHING online. Seriously, this is not the first time he's done stuff like this. Yes, he's a big internet star. Yes, thousands of people follow his twitter.

But for the love of [enter deity/prominent figure here], learn to keep stuff to yourself. I thought he'd have learned after the Bethseda fiasco. Apparently not. I love Minecraft, and I'm really interested in Scrolls, but Notch really needs to learn to think before he runs his mouth. His incessant need to post everything that crosses his mind, particularly in regards to his company, has more than once lead to the distribution of misinformation. If he wants to talk about his personal life, fine, but keep the professional stuff professional.

Notch realized his mistake and apologized for it. Just move on. Unless you went to minecon and stalked notch and the yogscast for the two days, you don't know completely what happened. Just move on.

I've had outbursts where I said stuff I regret. Looks like Notch did the same thing. Instead of bleating like a sheep that he is an asshole, I'm going to forgive him for this little outburst. After all, he created minecraft and played a part in organising an event for the game. Must have been stressful, making him a bit more prone to lashing out like that.

I wouldn't really call him a celebrity, I mean sure home made success story but to go as far as celebrity just seems wrong itself.
Although I think he believes it because of his rabid fanbase who love the product he made and continues to create content for, but a celebrity he is not. I even think making Minecon is a massive push into the land of crazy, this game has only just been released and so far it has it's own convention?
I'm sure there are other games out there with just as loyal a fanbase that doesn't try that hard to turn itself into some kind of brand name, which is what Notch is seemingly aiming for here.

Interesting statement, you're acting as if they went and publically slandered Notch in front of their million+ fans based on nothing but hearsay while Notch was on a plane home and unable to respond for a good 24~ hours, then when faced with a mature response backed down as if nothing happened. Oh wait, Notch did just that.

Both Notch and the Yogscast crew have said that the entire thing was nothing more than a misunderstanding that arose from stress and likely a moderate amount of alcohol, and apologized to each other. I think at this point it's a bit of a non-issue.

You know... this could all have been avoided if there wasnt Twitter.

Proof Twitter is evil, and justification for not having a Twitter acount on my part.
