I heard rumors Krystal from Star Fox and Ridley from Metroid were likely to be in on the new roster. Wolf was actually a fan-choice last time to enter the roster, so he may stay, leading to possibly 4 Star Fox characters, which I'd love. Ridley would give some interesting dynamics, a heavier version of Pit. As for who these two might replace, I'm not sure. I'd guess Wolf and ROB.

I'd like Luigi, Ike & Fox to all remain (since its usually those three I play as) but have a feeling Ike could go =(
I don't know about you, but I think I see a pattern with who can get cut.
Nobody from Smash64 can ever be cut.
Clones can be cut, unless they're from Smash64.
In terms of Fire Emblem protagonists you get Marth (First Fire Emblem protagonist) and whoever the latest Fire Emblem protagonist is when the Smash game comes out. (So it will be the dude from Awakening)

They had Toon Link in Brawl so I don't see why they can't have Yarn characters in this one. It's its own little series of games now :D

Isn't the popular rumor that Namco/Bandai is developing the latest Smash Bros games? If not the Wii U one than the 3DS one (which is apparently also being developed right now). Anyway, when it comes to characters I'd assume Pac-Man and maybe a Ghost would make it into the roaster. I'd also love to see Simon Belmont make it in but no idea if that would work. Playing as Bayonetta would be cool and I'd love to see more Sonic characters like Knuckles, Eggman and, Metal Sonic. As for Pokemon I'd like to have each region's trainer be a separate character but admittedly, I don't know how that would work without them feeling like palette swaps.

The big new thing I'd want to see in the next Smash-Bros though would be classic or, Bit-Mode, which would use the original character sprites, original levels/locations, etc. It would be a challenge for top-down games like Pokemon, Zelda and, Mother but it would be manageable by using battle scenes from those three games. Nintendo paid to develop most of its consoles and games by the nostalgia dollar after all: might as well give us what we want. A part of me also wants to see mini-games and, what-if sections; the What-Ifs would be challenge maps wherein you play classic levels with characters from other games (ie: Pikachu in Super Mario Bros 1-1 operating under Super Mario Bros rules so, no powers and no touching enemies other than jumping on them)

I never did play through Brawl but I loved the story mode (as much as I could without actually playing it), so if that would make a return, it'd be great.

As for new people, they'll most likely be throwing out Lucario like they did with Mewtwo in favour of a new mysterious-looking, bipedal Pokemon (I'm guessing Zoroark because I imagine a lot could be done with his ability).

I would like Vaati, being the second most prolific Zelda villain and in serious need of love. Chrom from the newest Fire Emblem as well as Roy, Ike, and Marth might all show up since that franchise is getting a whole lot more love state side than I can remember. Wart would be a nice retro call back. A more involved story for whatever they call their campaign mode. Also Medusa from Kid Icarus uprising as a trophy.

Bowser Junior! Make him to Bowser what Young Link is to Link and Pichu is to Pikachu!

Another Sonic character would be cool as well! (Knuckles or Tails).

Including what some others have said, how about Rayman as well? The new one is exclusive to Wii U is it not?

If they are doing Namco characters, then obviously they must include Yuri Lowell(Or Lloyd Irving). But yeah, I hope that they get rid of 2/3 Starfox characters(Preferably Falco and Wolf), Ice Climbers, Jiggly Puff, 1/2 Mother characters(preferably Lucas) and Lucario. I think Dedede, Ganondorf, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Bowser, and Pokemon Trainer could stand to be shown the door in favor of rotations. (Pokemon Trainer could just have a Pokemon swap)

So I think those 12 should be swapped out for new characters. As for replacements, I would like to see:
1. Yuri Lowell(Tales of Vesperia)
2. Bisharp (Pokemon)
3. Haxorus (Pokemon)
4. Lloyd Irving (Tales of Symphonia)
5. Knuckles (Sonic)
6. Professor Layton (Professor Layton)
7. Megaman (Megaman)
8. Yarn Yoshi (Yoshi's Epic Yarn?)
9. Tom Nook (Animal Crossing)
10. The Shadow Triad (Pokemon)
11. Dingo (The animal. No affiliation with any sort of game)
12. Pokemon Trainer Team Swap (Krookodile, Flaffy, Scyther)

Only played the Wii version, the motion control was quite pathetic to say the least, aimless waggling for most attacks and it really didn't feel necessary, I'd rather have just used a controller. Skyward Sword was better for the motion plus though, it's a lot of fun to fight so accurately.

You have any interest in Wind Waker HD? It looks gorgeous from the stills they showed, but I'd like to see some good gamepad integration (if they make it into a phantom hourglass ordeal I shall weep) and maybe some new dungeons. The miiverse will work very well with it indeed I think :)

Just wrote up a mini-review of the Wii U, finally got my arse round to doing some writing.

Now for more Super Mario Bros U...

It is and I just played the demo. Needless to say I want it, it's frigging gorgeous and integrates the gamepad nicely.

Vaati would be fantastic, anything that nods to Minish Cap is a big plus in my book I adore that game

Bayonetta: Okay, to be honest, I'd love to see her in there but somehow I can't really picture her in any family-friendly game without toning down her overly-sexualized character and frankly, who'd want that?
Solid Snake was hardly a family friendly character... Last time I played MGS4 he gets hit on by a bunch of people, crawls through what is literally a microwave tunnel, reads porn mags, fights alongside a ninja who cuts everything and everyone into little pieces and befriends a gun launderer with a monkey that has a smoking problem.
yeah, but he's that particular brand of family-friendly that is okay because violence is a wholesome activity the entire family can participate in. Showing off cleavage and getting naked while attacking is not.

THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!!

How about they keep/bring back all the characters from each smash bros. Then, they could try actually making each one UNIQUE.

I'd like them to add Shulk(Xenoblade), Maxwell(Scribblenauts), Paper Mario, Toon Zelda/Tetra, Andy(Advanced Wars), Demise(Skyward Sword. Possibly replacing Ganondorf ), Travis Touchdown, and maybe Rundus.

I'd like to see them get rid of Ganondorf(or just change his moveset), Wolf & Falco, ROB, Game&Watch, and replace Marth with someone else from Fire Emblem.

Geno from super mario RPG would be a cool choice.

I'm not a fan of the ultra-niche (from my western localized gaming experience) characters... like do we really need 2 earthbound characters, 2 fire emblem, etc..

Which brings me to my other point... the main thing is clones... same-ish characters are just extremely boring. It's true in brawl there are less similarities (unlike melee which was very lazy in many respects), but some variety around the series would be appreciated.

Finally.. balance. I know the game is meant to be fun, but large characters that are slow should be feared and not just kicked around like punching bags.

I'm stoked for the Wind Waker remake and can't wait for it to be out. I wasn't much a fan for Skyward Sword. It used some interesting ideas and they were well executed, I just prefer using a normal controller. Also, it's just my personal opinion, but I don't like Skyward Sword's art very much. I don't personally think the art directions from Twilight Princess and Wind Waker mesh very well. I don't think they're going to make Wind Waker into another Phantom Hourglass, though(that would piss me off most highly), but as far as I've heard so far it's just a Wind Waker remake with some GamePad integration. I'd assume much to the effect of OoT3D, for easier inventory and the like.
