A. Accessability.

B. Sometimes, the aesthetics are perfect, and you get a rush from creating something awesome.

C. The survival horror elements that come from the FREAKING CREEPERS.
Holy shit, how awesome would minecraft be if it was made into a survival horror game? Like, in the style of, say, Amnesia? That would be EPIC xD

I don't like it.

The artistic style doesn't appeal to me and I don't like games that require me to build the levels for them. When I game, I expect to be taken on a journey, Minecraft just pushes you out the door and tells you to find your own way. Not my style.

So yes, we can shake hands, brother. ;)
I'm not trying to start flaming or anything. But take into consideration that Minecraft, is a sandbox game.It doesn't expect you to know exactly what you're doing while you play it.It just "kicks you out into the world" like you said, and then stands in a corner and watches you with a diabolical look in it's eyes, while you try to figure stuff out before the darkness falls(and for that matter, it also laughs in your face, and kicks you in the nuts by throwing creepers around to blow up your hard work).
Also yeah, the blocky look , I'm ok with it, I would want it too look different though, but that would ruin the game, and it would require alot of proccesing power to make the graphics ultra realistic and stuff. So yeah, I like it how it is because even for my 6-year old PC, it's still accessible.

And I think it's nice to hee how people build theyr bases and stuff. It tells some things about you :)....That's my opinion at least :))

I really dont understand the minecraft thing but for completely different reasons then the op. The who appeal of minecraft is to build things for the sake of building things. I never really understood the point of that. If im going to spend 3 weeks digging around for resourses to build a castle or something I want it to actually be for a reason. Not so I can stare at it for 5 mins and go hmmm well that was rather pointless.

I tried minecraft before and thought it was rather crappy for this exact reason. This is also coming from somebody who can spend 50-60 hours creating a halo 3/reach multiplayer map. I enjoy building really cool things and exploring what you can actually do with the editors but I want to actually be able to enjoy the fruits of my labour as well.

First of all sorry for the double post.
Second.Minecraft is not really a single player game.Try the multiplayer survival.Or wait until it's finished and then play. You might change your mind when you know that you and 10 of your friends can make a fortress, and declare that land for yourself:).As the other players might try to destroy your kingdom.I have played some RP servers, and the experience is quite good.I felt more immersed in this world , than in other games that have some epic /legendary story.

No matter what I did with this game I couldn't figure out a way to actually enjoy it. I've been with friends and they enjoy it but I don't. I believe this game relies on your creativity and joy of cooperative game play. It's not my style but hey, it was worth the money to test it.

It is indeed a sandbox game, in every meaning of the word, but that just doesn't appeal to me. Does that mean it's a bad game? No, just not my cup of tea. I prefer a clear goal.
