Did anyone else get this? Is it a joke? Is my google chrome having a good laugh at me? Should I be worried?

Never have gotten that before, and yes you should be worried.

That's happened to other people. Not me, but it's happened to other Chrome users. I'm pretty sure that there's no danger, though. I've been on this site for two years and not been compromised by the Escapist.

Chrome had detection issues...or so I heard. Someone else mentioned this a while ago as well in another thread. I doubt this site has malware but if you want peace of mind,,,use Firefox. Ignorance is bliss.

There have been many threads with the solution.
Go on options then "Clear Browsing Data". That fixes the problem.

That's what I'm thinking. Esacpist has never steered me wrong.

no way can this website hurt your computer!

Your computer must be scared of the sheer awesomeness of this website.

Okay should I just purge everything? It gave me an option for various increments. I already did one hour should I go for more?

The escapist is no doubt fine now, but about a week or two ago, a few sites were attacked with malicious advertisement's, like the Nexus sites. Of course Nexus sites and the various other sites attacked were small modding communities. A site as large as The Escapist is hard to attack, but if you get something like that from a smaller site that you trust, like TESNexus, or Mabinogiworld, no doubt something happened there.

*sigh* I'm sorry, but it's one of those things that gave me a nice scare. I wasn't planning to comb through old threads while, for all I know, I'm downloading a doom virus

From the Tech Team [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/Tech-Team] group, directly from Virgil.

I passed the info on to our ad people, but as far as I can tell nothing is on the site, or has been. We aren't even running any ad networks at the moment. It might have been a glitch in Google's malware detection.
Even Google's webmaster tools said there was nothing found on the site.
From the same incident about 3 weeks ago or now. It's been happening randomly to Chrome users since then, so it's a Chrome problem more then likely.

I use Chrome and I haven't had this yet but I'm not worried if it does pop up, just clear the cache.
