So the Prince of Persia film sucks apparently

I'm still going to put my money on it being a decent, simple, family oriented, popcorn action flick. I'm betting that reviews this early have a decent chance of being overly serious film critics, and video gamers who are ready to call it a travesty at the slightest provocation; Or failing provocation, by making shit up. I would put money on the chance that I will watch it, enjoy it, but not find it to be anything mind blowing. At the very least, 1 solitary reviewer is completely meaningless.

Lol, well that's honestly not surpsing people think the movie sucks. Probably the only decent movie that's based on a Video Game would be Hitman, atleast to me. I think games made into movies follow along the lines of what Yahtzee says about sequals devolped by "fans". Sure it's got the same charcaters and stuff, but that feel isn't there. That thing that made the first orginal game epic. Probably how it is with the game movies.

He had taken issue with the actor's ethnicity and believes that an Arab rather than a European would be better suited for the roll.

As I have already mentioned to him Persians originally migrated to the Iranian Plateau from Europe meaning that a movie about Achamenid dynasty Persians is being historically accurate by casting people of European descent.

Meh, movie reviewers don't tend to watch a movie the same way a regular person does. I may enjoy it if I see it while the critic may not.

I mean, critics loved Avatar and I almost fell asleep halfway through it.

It's actually maintained excellent cultural and ethnic accuracy. The only flaw I can think of is that in The Sands of Time India is apparently between Persia and Arabia.

Let's assume that the film really is utter garbage. How many good films are there actually out there that were based on a video game? I personally can't think of any but someone on the Escapist is bound to have a better movie memory.

I liked the Silent Hill movie. It had a lot of flaws, but it was a bit more faithful to the source material than most other game-based films, and they really hit a sweet spot with the atmosphere. If they just took away the pointless scenes with the husband, the hit-and-miss acting, the 10-minute lecture of exposition and backstory, completely took away Pyramid Head because he has nothing to do with the main character's psyche and was introduced in Silent Hill 2 to begin with, lessened the whole "noisiness" and added more subtlety and psychological aspects, and it could've been a masterpiece...

But nothing will ever be perfect, will it :'(

I wouldn't say that... just because he's middle eastern doesn't mean the whole movie would be bad. And he actually looks like the protaganist in one or two of the Prince of Persia games, so it's not THAT bad. Besides, the guy's a decent actor.

Wait for more. Just because one review says it sucks doesn't make it bad. Hell I'm sure there's a review saying District 9 sucked, and that doesn't make the movie bad.

It works the other way to, I'm sure there's one good review of Transformers Revenge of the Fallen, does that make the movie good? No it does not, so stop jumping to conclusions and be patient for more reviews dammit.

There are a few wholes in his review as well. It seems that he only watched the trailers since the Dagger of Time CANNOT change time just turn it back to allow you to do something different it doesn't change it on its own. Also Dastan isn't a Rouge Prince. Seriously this guys Review is full of more wholes than Swiss cheese being fired at by a machine gun. He trashes Clash of the Titans which Gemma was also in but personally liked that movie no matter how many cliches were present since it was a pretty good rendition of the Greek Mythology. Being a Fan of the Sands of Time Trilogy I do want to see this movie no matter how many bad reviews it gets since the reviewers of movies usually go in with a shotty disposition of Video Game movies and Action Movies in general.
