And it has been pretty shitty so far. First off I had to go to work today & it has been a tradition of mine to take my birthday off, but thats impossible this year, so here I am. Today is payday, but my check is going to be shit because I missed a day this week due to being sick with my yearly cold I always get this time of year. To top the day off so far I just sandblasted my arm, which for those of you that don't know what that feels like, lets just say it hurts like a ***** & leave it at that. If today doesn't get just a little better I'm going to lock myself in my house all weekend & drink myself stupid. Ok mild rant out of the way....

Anyone else have a crappy birthday like that, or worse, or lets go the opposite route & talk about really awesome birthdays.
Don't feel too bad. On my 21st birthday, I was mobilizing for Iraq. As a ritual, I was pulled up in front of the company before the sun had risen and made to do push ups[footnote]Because it was my birthday, mind you[/footnote], but that wasn't bad. However, in the training cycle, it was Individual Movement Technique refresher day, meaning I spent all day crawling through sand, sprinting across sand, and getting pelted by paintballs from OPFOR. We weren't allowed off the post to drink, but even if we were, I collapsed on my bed right after my shower. I slept like a fucking baby, though.

Well.. my birthday was the 9th September. Where I received a gift from my girlfriend, thoughtful as it was. That.. was the only thing that happened besides a bunch of congrats from people who couldn't seem less invested. I presume that only getting one gift, and not even one from your parents is rather shitty to put it mildly. I didn't even get a party. Where after 5 days, my mother's birthday came and they threw a big party for her, and a bunch of people came. She got showered in gifts.

...And you think you had a bad birthday. Pffft.

If I was still a kid, I'd care more. But now I have a paycheck and it usually covers everything I need anyhow. That and it spares me the need to buy more than one birthday gift. In retrospect though, it's hard to beat such a pathetic birthday, considering it was more like a day where people give me phonecalls much more frequently. My girlfriend felt so bad she actually offered to buy me another gift, just because she felt sorry for me.

All in all. It really wasn't much different from a normal day. I didn't quite realize how pathethic it really was until 5 days later, though. I actually presumed our friends and family didn't really give two shits about us. Apparently it was just me. I'm a sad... sad individual.

I haven't celebrated my birthday in years... Usually one one remembers... Me in particular... though I prefer it that way... I hate spending time with my friends and family... and I'm sure they feel the same way...<.<

Early in the morning on my 15th birthday we crammed into our car, going from France to Sweden. Riding in a car all day. Not fun.

At about nine in the evening we were just arriving at the over-night hotel in Germany when a car rammed us. And all the ambulance and hospital people congratulated my older stepsister on "her" birthday. She is short and skinny, so obviously she had to be the younger one.

The one good thing was that no one got seriously hurt. Wear your seat belts!
