Just for fun I would like to know what others think of the country I call home: Sweden.
How does people not from Sweden view our country and the people in in? Any thoughts are welcome, be they good or bad, silly or serious.
And what's a typical sterotype for Sweden according to you?

edit: extra: It would also be fun to know what words/sentances you know in swedish. För uppenbarligen är det här ett konstigt språk :p

Funny. An american once asked me if I was from the German part of Sweden, since I so happen to speak German.
Seriously. How can people mix us up like this? :p

I can't speak for all Aussies, but personally I see Sweden as a country populated by basically nice people. As in, polite people who nice to others. And as I rank being a nice person in my top three best things for a person to be, the Swedish are cool in my view.

Lots of hot blond girls.

That is all.
lol, this is like THE most common thing I hear when I ask people about sweden, which is funny, blondes are a dying minority here as much as anywhere else

Honestly, the first thing I think of is the blonde Swedish twins. Then the funny sounding language. And finally, as a hockey fan, I give thanks for Forsberg, but take off points for supplying so many players to the Red Wings and Canucks. :p

Iceland has about 80% blondes and red-heads, while also having a very high number of green eyes compared to the world.
I have reached my heaven.

I can't say I know much about Sweden, but it has a reputation for being social advanced, and playing an important part in European history (though that's not my field).

Oh, might have wanted to stick the word "Sweden" in the title.

...

Actually, I really don't like the flag. A flag should have an obvious right way up, so you can fly it upside down as a symbol of distress. Now the Swedish flag isn't the same when rotated through 180 degrees (I think), but if it's on a flag pole in the wind this might not be immediately recognisable.

Yeah you hear this a lot even if, as you say, the blondes aren't that many even here.(btw I'm a blonde myself :p)

I generally love all the Scandinavian countries, Sweden is no exception. In fact, Sweden is among my favourite countries.

I adore Skandinavia. Somehow, I imagine it to be more pristine than the rest of Europe. Though I've never been there, but it's on my list of "places to visit".

Concerning Sweden in particular:
First thing that comes to mind: IKEA. ^^ (Sorry)
Second thing that comes to mind: Lots of lakes and probably lots of midges in the summer.
Third thing that comes to mind: Really nice people.

Ah, God eftermiddag från ett väldigt regnigt Karlskrona. ;)
Sweden is cool, really is. I am not influenced by the fact that I live here.. Not one bit! Though there are some things that could be better, there could be more jobs for one thing. Unemployment truly does suck.

One of a few countries in the world with its society in relative order. You have excellent public services, great and from what I hear free schools, good music, beautiful scenery and one of the highest standards of living in the world. Obviously cold and little sunlight in the wintertime are the only major drawbacks. If only my country, The US, could be more like Sweden...

It's not the same when you rotate it, but I agree that it would be hard to tell (since the differance is just moving the centre of the cross a bit) And I guess that would give the same problem to many of our neighbour countries that have the same "design" to their flags. Thanks for pointing this out, I never thought about it before.
