She has no talent or artistic integerty. She uses sex and religion to stir up publicity for her. And yes she is quite ugly, her face is broken.

SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSscrew her

I'd say someone who would rather pass out on stage from exhaustion than take a break and let her fans down has plenty of artistic integrity.

There is a really amazing LGG article printed by the times online that I'm having a very difficult time locating right now, but I highly encourage you all to read it if you want some insight into both Gaga herself, and what she's trying to be and do.

It's titled "come party with Lady Gaga." If I can find the text, I'll link it.

here it is, reprinted on another forum http://forums.thefashionspot.com/f104/lady-gaga-99659-25.html It runs the full length of the 3 posts by libra_skye_18

what's the policy on reprinting from other publications here, I'd happily post it if such is allowed.

Go for it.

I love Gaga. Her music is catchy as hell, she's talented, and if you watch interviews she's actually a very intelligent and thoughtful person.

Any artist who would rather faint onstage than stop the show is an artist worth respecting.
I have to agree. She has fantastic music, and if you don't believe she can play what you would most likely call "good" music, look up some of her stuff before she became famous. She is great at piano and singing, and overall a fantastic performer.

I'd call that effort and/or passion, Not artistic integrity. I could also call it being too dumb to take a damn break.

I don't have a problem with her as an individual because, musically speaking, she's not an individual. She is a part of the popular music scene. This means that she, just like everyone else in pop culture music, writes hollow lyrics, usings autotuning, drum machine loops and basic yet catchy electronic tunes
This adds up to two things:
1. Something fun and enjoyably for people to dance and sing along to in clubs, which is what most people, sadly, look for in music
2. The fact that the pop music scene will always lack any kind of heart and soul. It is void of emotion, of reason. It is not trying to deliver a message, make a point or inspire anybody
In my opinion art should shock, it should empower and it should tug on your heart strings. Pop music, club music, dance music, whatever you call it, does not do this, and Lady GaGa is like the queen of this style of music, thus the figurehead of this problem
The average Joe Prickface just wants to go to a club, drink and dance to a repetetive drum machine void of any real talent or emotion. And I'm fine with letting him/her continue doing that, so long as the bands I love keep creating real music

I hope I didn't come across too opinionated there

here is the article printed in full - read it. Totally changed my perspective on her.

[edit: unsnipped, because the amount of text in the spoiler box was crashing my browser.

"I. Am. KNACKERED!" she roars. She then walks, slightly unsteadily, up the steps of the Ritz Carlton hotel. A total, total dude.

40 million singles!! wow I didn't even know she was that popular I've only ever heard about her because of the amount of times people here have brought her up around here

She clearly has a lot of musical talent, and she clearly opts to reign it in so that she can appeal to as many consumers as possible. Her focus, instead, falls on her aesthetic. Fashion, spectacle, and shock are her real instruments.

She says she makes music every day. She says she records her next album while she's on tour. She writes all her own stuff. None of these are flattering claims given the quality of her songs. The lyrics are repetitive and shallow, and the electronic production is simplistic and generic.

Gaga is more art than artist at this point. If you enjoy watching her perform, more power to you. Her music certainly plays a role in that. Personally, I can't stand her. All style, no substance. I listen to far more interesting and beautiful lyrics on a daily basis, and I've heard electronic production that absolutely crushes anything she's pressed.

I don't understand the massive hatred directed towards her. She's just another pop singer in my eyes, nothing more. Hell, I find that her best songs are generally better than the best of most others out there.

The reason that she is so popular is because she says that she is being herself and that it gives "hope" to all those that are afraid to be themselves.

If she is being herself then why is she like this just over 5 years ago?

Seriously if she was still like that I would actually like her.

I wish I could be so wrong, making millions by dressing up and singing extremely catchy pop songs.
90% of the people here would probably swap positions with her in a heartbeat.

What about breaking into Jerry Seinfeld's Yankee Stadium VIP Box, the one he paid for and without his notice? Then flipping the bird to everyone else... oh, and she wasn't wearing any pants, either. Is that artistic integrity also?

She can't earn my respect if she continues to act like a spoilt brat. Her music is abysmal with no lyrical value whatsoever that I can find. From what I can tell is that she writes meaningless words to a catchy beat and makes a lot of money which is nothing new or anything that truly matters.

To say she has artistic integrity is to spit in the likes of John Lennon's face. Someone who believed that music can heal all wounds, even his own. All this is to Lady Gaga is a joke, a joke that is damaging to herself and to music in general.

You mean flipping people off, and then being put in Seinfeld's box by stadium staff?

As in, she didn't try, nor ask to be put there - the stadium just did it because they didn't want to throw her out?

She was flipping off from the box in the picture that I saw. The article that I read also stated that she wandered in there on her own.

Could have been wrong, for which I apologize. Either way, that doesn't excuse her actions... or her lack of wearing pants.

Way, way too over-sexualized for me. I watch her videos, and I see a bunch of linedancers clothed only in underwear. When I see somebody objectify themselves like that, I find it incredibly sad that they (or the agents/corporations representing them) are so insecure that they can't let their accomplishments speak for themselves and have to add semi-nudity onto their work before it's considered commercially viable.

I was actually talking about songs such as Working Class Hero.

Working Class Hero by John Lennon - Post Beatles said:
As soon as you're born they make you feel small
By giving you no time instead of it all
Till the pain is so big you feel nothing at all
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

They hurt you at home and they hit you at school
They hate you if you're clever and they despise a fool
Till you're so fucking crazy you can't follow their rules
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

When they've tortured and scared you for twenty hard years
Then they expect you to pick a career
When you can't really function you're so full of fear
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

Keep you doped with religion and sex and TV
And you think you're so clever and classless and free
But you're still fucking peasants as far as I can see
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

There's room at the top they are telling you still
But first you must learn how to smile as you kill
If you want to be like the folks on the hill
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

If you want to be a hero well just follow me
If you want to be a hero well just follow me

One: We like Madonna impersonators [Xtina, Brittney, etc]

Two: You have to stand out somehow. Numerous gaudy outfits sans pantaloons are one way.

Three: Observation 2 segues nicely into this one, as she is [was] able to hide her face from the general populace under props or extreme make-up for quite some time. I'm still not sure I've seen her completely au naturel.

Four: Gotta love pop musicians.
