Nope, don't think it's worth it at all.

I do have the Wii version which I never finished as I didn't rate it that highly. If I ever feel the need to revisit Okami I'll just play it on there rather than the PS3.

no, I haven't
just to piss you off and totally not because I don't own one of those consoles and my PS2 hasn't been used since the Nixon administration

Didn't play Okami the first time around, I completely missed picking it up for some reason even though it seemed like it'd be good, but I'll definitely pick up the HD remake in a minute or two when I can be bothered to boot up the PS3 and check it out.

So thanks you for the heads up, I'll be downloading it shortly....but I will be holding you personally responsible if it's not any good. :)

I'm sure you guys are sick and tired over how much I gush over this game, so I'll keep the praise to a minimum :D

Okami HD was released a few days ago on PSN and hopefully, many of you downloaded the game.

For any of you who are unsure just how much if an improvement the 'HD' version of the game is, let me put your fears to rest. The game looks absolutely gorgeous. I mean, it looked bloody great before, but with a lick of HD paint it looks even more amazing.

The game has aged beautifully and now has the added benefit of trophies, for those of you who are into that sort of thing.

Anyway, what I really started this thread for, was to see how much of the Escapist community picked this game up.

If you did, have you played the game before? Is this your first time playing Okami? What do you think of it?
[deliberate and poorly constructed attempt at baiting]Oh-what? I've never heard of it. What are you talking about, and why do I care that it's now in HD?[/deliberate and poorly constructed attempt at baiting]

Daystar, I would like you to know that I've been here less than a month, and as soon as I saw the name of this thread, I was pretty sure it was gonna be you who started it. Kudos on making your love for this game super well known. :)

OT: I haven't downloaded it. Didn't know it was there until yesterday, when I saw it on the XMB ticker. I'm considering buying it, though: I haven't played it before, but I always thought it looked really cool, not to mention it's always praised really highly.

Then again, I'm still in the midst of playing through Dishonored, XCOM, AC3, Borderlands 2 with my friends, and will probably be coerced by these friends into buying BlOps 2 so I can play zombies with them, so my gaming time is pretty much full right now. Not sure I'd want to have Okami just sitting there, untouched.

Then again again, I really don't want BlOps2, so I may buy Okami, and then use that as my excuse for not getting it, i.e: 'I used some of the money I was going to use to buy BlOps2 to buy Okami instead, so you guys are just going to have to wait a while.'

Ahh, decisions, decisions.

Get the money.

I don't care how, you understand?

I don't care how.

I got it on release day and loving it. Since Tuesday, I've played for about 16.5 hours and I'm off to the temple to save Busty Babe (because of...spoilers) before Oni Island. I would be near finished the game if I wasn't gunning for the platinum (requires all beads, maxing out stats, fish/animal/treasure tomes, finishing all digging minigames, getting S-rank on final results, etc, which means hours and hours of completing quests and collecting stuff). Spent most of yesterday fishing and I completed my fish tome for Sei-an as well as most of the sidequests in the area.

Surprised no one has commented on the load times. They're still there, but it seems twice as fast as the PS2 version. Makes things sooooo smooth. I just wish that they kept the skipable cutscenes from the Wii version. This is my 3rd time playing this lovely monster! Anyways, if they keep the credits intact, this could be the superior version.

Daystar pleased with Raggy? :3

EDIT: Not sure if the trophy guides are fully up yet, but remember for you platinum hunters, Okami HD has a MISSABLE trophy. The animal tome can't be completed if you...

Raggy did good :3

It's been a while since I played an older version of the game, but I had the feeling that the load times were a lot quicker.

Just...

It's so gewd!

I plan on getting it when I get a PS3. It is actually one of the reasons I'm getting one...

I just completed Okami for the first time in the summer there (that's after starting it last summer; didn't get to play it when I went away to uni). Took a look at the official trailer, and there doesn't seem to be enough different to warrant buying, even in the future when I feel like playing Okami again. It would most certainly look better on a 1080p tv, but it still doesn't look enough of an improvement. I'll go back to my PS2 copy if I ever need to.

In a similar situation with Sonic Adventure 2 HD - I love the original (if you can call the Gamecube port "the original"), and I got way too excited when the HD version was announced, but they just didn't do enough to make me wanna buy the game again. I'll stick to my Gamecube.

Btw, I *loved* Okami. For some reason I started holding on to praise instead of spending, to see how much I could get. Ended up going through the whole game with only 3 inkpots (boosted to the golden ones near the end) :D Tried doing the same with the health meter as well, but I accidentally found Sun Fragments a few times, which kind of ruined it :p Looking back on it, I think it would have been far too easy had I upgraded as expected.

I did! And I'm loving it. It's the best version of the game, yet (I own the PS2 and Wii version as well). Best Zelda game since 'A Link to the Past'!

I have brought and downloaded it, as I said I would, but have yet to start playing it. I am too addicted to sucking at XCOM at the moment. But I will play it again...eventually.

Hell no.

Pay ? 20 for a game that still works perfectly on my PS2? Other PS2 classics only cost half as much! And don't give me that "it's HD" crap. HD re-releases don't increase the polycount, or offer larger textures, or add new levels, or whatever. They just offer 16:9 compatibility and a less blurry image on HD televisions. (Unless your name is Ratchet & Clank or Jak And Daxter, 'cause then you will find something new: glitches.)

First the Wii-release and now this? Pump some money into a full-fledged sequel on home consoles, then we'll talk. I know, with Okami, Capcom (or should I say Clover?) pretty much made the best Zelda game ever, but that doesn't mean they should follow into all of Nintendo's footsteps and re-release their cult-titles for every damn console!

Oh! I did I did I did! I've been waiting for it for the best part of five years. It does not disappoint. At all. I can literally see no reason whatsoever not to get it, seeing as it's got a pretty nice price tag too. :D
Seriously though, I was far too excited for this. Literally weeping tears of joy when I booted it up. Well, my eyes were watering in a kinda teary way. So as good as. And now I'm off to go explore Agata Forest. See you later!

Yeah damn right I bought it! It did take like two fucking hours to download though.

Not that there was much polygon detail to be inhanced, but the colours... OooOOooh the colours!!! They're so damn crisp they're making me thirsty.

It's odd how an HD version of something can make me fall in love with it all over again - It was the same as when I bought Akira and Laputa: Castle in the Sky on blu-ray.

Hey, if anyone wants to buy it for me, I would't object, lol. I never owned a PS2 and wasn't sure about the Wii version's motion controls, so I never bought that. Any offers? ;)

Nah, I still regularly play the PS2 version on my PS3 so I've no need to get it. Besides, I wouldn't want my eyes falling out from seeing something so pretty in HD.
