Got Okami on release for PS2 played it loved it and have completed it three times thats enough for me plus 15 pounds for a game I already own is a bit steep oh and 6.3 gb means I lose over half my remaining hard drive space and because of my snail pace internet connection it would take me about 24 or so hours to download meaning I could probably put the original PS2 copy in and complete it before it finished downloading (missing some sidequests).

In short I love the game its one of my favourite games of all time but it dosent make sense for me to get this version I just wish more people supported it on release then maybe we might have had a sequel and no im not counting Okamiden as a sequel.

Im a little confused about it does it need the PS Move? If not Ill get it for sure.
You can use a controller, yes.

You should totally get it.

Like, right now.

[HEADING=1]Why are you still reading this?![/HEADING]
I dunno, im getting quite a bit of entertainment from your posts over this subject, and this is free.

The better idea is to antagonize you, get more free entertainment, and when we cant squeeze anymore comedy from you go out and buy the game and never tell you about it

.....not that I would do that mind you.

Also harddrive space...

I will get it eventually as it is one of the few PS2 games that I meant to play but fell through the cracks for one reason or another (like suikoden 5, and the valkyrie games)

Nah, I'm sorry my friend. I wanted to buy it but then I saw it. Indigo Prophecy just £4.99 on GoG and when it comes to choosing between Super Sayan murder mystery and some nicely drawn pictures, Super Sayan always wins. That is not opinion that is fact.

The only issue I have is the loading times. I can't quite do the loading screen minigame because it keeps loading too damn fast! >{

I'm sure you guys are sick and tired over how much I gush over this game, so I'll keep the praise to a minimum :D

Okami HD was released a few days ago on PSN and hopefully, many of you downloaded the game.

For any of you who are unsure just how much if an improvement the 'HD' version of the game is, let me put your fears to rest. The game looks absolutely gorgeous. I mean, it looked bloody great before, but with a lick of HD paint it looks even more amazing.

The game has aged beautifully and now has the added benefit of trophies, for those of you who are into that sort of thing.

Anyway, what I really started this thread for, was to see how much of the Escapist community picked this game up.

If you did, have you played the game before? Is this your first time playing Okami? What do you think of it?
I thought it was going to be put on a disc

I don't have enough money and I already have enough games on my to-buy list. I might get it eventually. Okami is the game that has your avatar as the main character right?

24.5 hours in. More than 3/4 through the plot, finished the fish tome, got about 2/3 of the beads, got all the bonus combat/brush techniques, and nearly got all upgrades. Apparently you don't need to get all the animals at 100% to get the animal tome trophy, so it's not missable after all. Triggered after I fed my first bear.

...don't look at me like that! I work 6 days a week, so I need to burn some mental energy.

I don't think it is there (Wii version I know didn't). Every time I press X on a loading screen it does nothing. But then again, the loading screens have only gone through maximum of 2 cycles, and for me at least on the PS2 version I would need several attempts. The other minigame also requires time. Demon Fangs aren't hard to get at. Very early in the game I had 135 of the buggers. Towards the end of the game I have enough to get the water tablet (100), lucky cat (50?), mist pot (60?), and the golden inkpot (80?) and I STILL have enough to buy the peace bell and wood mat. Pop open the Okami wiki and look up "floral finishers". For example, if you slash a green imp just right after you deplete his health, a demon fang will fly out.

Mr. Clarion, you have made my day.

Consider my next MtG card purchase/copy of Siren Blood Curse to transmute into Okami HD. Maybe I'll get around to finishing it when I don't have to disconnect my PS3 and replace it.

I bought it day 1 because of you! I missed out on it on PS2, but I knew it had to be good since you're constantly raving about it.

I'm about 5 or 6 hours in now. I don't know if it seems comparatively slow after the loading screens, but it seems like it takes a long time to save. It's probably normal and just seems slow.

Also, I can't help but think that they fixed the brush detection a bit. I don't remember nailing every slash and bloom and everything without issue or having to rotate the camera. This is a very good thing. Don't tell Capcom, but I would've paid double what they asked. It mechanically holds up perfectly fine, it's aged gracefully, and now it loads faster and looks more gorgeous than it ever has. I'm happy.

Hell no.

Pay ? 20 for a game that still works perfectly on my PS2? Other PS2 classics only cost half as much! And don't give me that "it's HD" crap. HD re-releases don't increase the polycount, or offer larger textures, or add new levels, or whatever. They just offer 16:9 compatibility and a less blurry image on HD televisions. (Unless your name is Ratchet & Clank or Jak And Daxter, 'cause then you will find something new: glitches.)

First the Wii-release and now this? Pump some money into a full-fledged sequel on home consoles, then we'll talk. I know, with Okami, Capcom (or should I say Clover?) pretty much made the best Zelda game ever, but that doesn't mean they should follow into all of Nintendo's footsteps and re-release their cult-titles for every damn console!
The picture isn't just less blurry, but the colours seem to be better too. When I say it's had a new lick of paint, I mean it in a quite literal sense :D

How big is it, you know like how many GB do I have to download?
It's just under 6 and a half GB.
Well shit that sucks. I only get 5 GB to download each month so I won't be able to play it.

I have no money with which to purchase the game unfortunately, but if I had the money I would. When it came out on PS2 I had very little game information sources and grew up in a tiny town where are no game stores and being a 12 year old girl, people didn't expect me to play games anyways, so I had never even heard of it.

I heard about a remake for the Wii and I was going to get that after doing proper research and found that it was in fact gorgeous as Daystar says and it looked very fun, but then of course my Wii crapped out on me and I haven't been about to afford another. So...yeah...I'm in a constant vortex of Okami-less-ness.

For a download only title, you'd think the game would just show up "Okami HD." But no, for whatever reason, mine shows up as "Okami HD(Download Version)" which is kind of annoying. Although I think it might have gotten a physical copy in Japan only. That wouldn't exactly surprise me.
