Probably the funniest thing I have seen all week on that watch dogs video. Sure its offensive but it pretty much targets anyone who could possibly be any sort of minority demographic. The whole thing is a joke and a pretty good one.
The thing about this video is that it wouldn't work if he were killing more "acceptable" people such as rich white males, Christians and Conservatives. It's the same reason why the WGDF comics aren't funny, because humour is created from unacceptable things.ThreeName said:I'm really surprised he didn't hit the "Religious Conservative" that was clearly there. Silly boy.
I fucking lost it at "Canadian", hilarious.
I more got the impression of an angry /r9k/ robot or /pol/ ponce, mostly the type who are still worshiping Elliot Rodgers as someone who stood up for himself or some nonsense.ToastiestZombie said:The thing about this video is that it wouldn't work if he were killing more "acceptable" people such as rich white males, Christians and Conservatives. Oh, and *tips fedora*
Well it definitely did originate on 4chan, like most things on the internet. If you don't find the type of humour /pol/ and /r9k/ make funny then that's fine, but if you actually find something as obviously silly as this offensive then that's entirely your fault.ThreeName said:I more got the impression of an angry /r9k/ robot or /pol/ ponce, mostly the type who are still worshiping Elliot Rodgers as someone who stood up for himself or some nonsense.ToastiestZombie said:The thing about this video is that it wouldn't work if he were killing more "acceptable" people such as rich white males, Christians and Conservatives. Also are you tipping that fedora at me? I'm confused now.
It came from /v/, a very different beast. Also /pol/ and /r9k/ have no humour, especially the former. That's what makes them so funny.ToastiestZombie said:Well it definitely did originate on 4chan, like most things on the internet. And I tipped the fedora at you because of your "religious conservative" remark, it's a derogatory term for people who hate Christians. I didn't actually mean it though, so take no offence.

Watch_Dogs should get some credit though, it's the only game so far, that I can remember, that made me play as a good guy. Usually I run around like a psychopath in anything that lets me, but for the first time ever that just isn't worth the trouble.
Has nothing to do with the profiler though, knowing the fictive background of a particular clump of pixels won't stop me shooting it.
And offensive humor can be pretty awesome. Jim Jeffries' Alchoholocaust comes to mind.
Mostly it's just a giant hassle to deal with the consequences. Let's use Saints Row as an example of the other side. There you shoot/stab/dildo/throw/run over someone, and in isolated incidents nothing will happen really. But in Watch_Dogs someone will probably call the cops if they see you do something along those lines.Happyninja42 said:Bestival said:Freaking lost it at "Canadian" and "9/11 Survivor". Question: If it's not the profiler that made you decide to act like a good guy, and not a psychopath, what was it about Watch Dogs that did make you behave that way? I'm not criticizing you or anything, I'm just genuinely curious. I mean, you say that the fictitious backgrounds they generate for the people won't stop you from shooting them, then what did stop you? Because that little glimpse into the random people in the sandbox, making them more fleshed out beyond just "guy/girl on street" is the big distinction from other games of this theme.
To me, having that little bit of info about the person would be a strong motivator to not be a psychopath to them. Now granted, I'm the kind of guy who went after a random thug shooter in the first inFamous game, because he shot and killed a good samaritan citizen, who led me over to a person who was injured. The timing of it was actually quite brilliant. I was mid healing animation on the sick person, the Good Sam was standing there watching, and a single shot rang out, I even saw the tracer fire of it, and it killed the Good Sam. I was so pissed I tracked that shooter down and ate his soul.
But you're saying that it isn't what made you be a hero. So what did?
