Unless the Extended Cut come out and says, "The Indoctrination Theory was right! Here's where the game really left off, here's Shepard 'snapping out of it' and here's the real ending!" Unless that happens, I won't be holding my breath.
That sounds 100 times worse than the actual ending.

EDIT: Assuming you're going by the 'it was all a dream' cliche, otherwise I retract my statement.

I think that I'm sick of the word 'clarifying'. I don't want it to be 'clarifying', I want it to make the end not suck. But nothing will do that short of a total rewrite, so we're hosed.

I'm not going to touch the DLC with a ten-foot pole unless people say it's good. And even then, I might just say f*ck it.

I honestly don't know what kind of answer you're trying get out of us by pulling out that question but a broad spectrum generalisation would probably be like "trying to put out the fire with gasoline ".

The ending will still be dumb, but it's far from the only problem Mass Effect 3 has.

I'm looking forward to the closure the extended cut is said to provide, but I doubt that it will elevate the game all that much in my eyes.

I have been a longtime fan of the Mass effect universe. I was fine with the ending.
It tied everything together quite well, and i am happy that they are making this extended cut.
I did however feel like it had a hollow ending, as it did not really reflect your decisions, But it seems that the extended cut will kind of "Fill the void", so to speak.

Meh, I still like Mass Effect, and though the ending was awful, I accept it..

I still hate it though, didn't get to chill with Garrus.

From everything we've been told and whatever little scant details have come out, it seems as if they're not doing anything to fix the ending, but instead are doing their best make the ending less shitty than it is. It's nice that it's free (it's the least they could do), but there's nothing so far that gives me any hope that anything will ever be resolved.

Plus, I'm just so over Mass Effect. I've lost all motivation to even touch any of the games outside the first. So, fuck it. There's some interesting titles on the horizon that are a bit more deserving of my attention.

When you take a fantastic game universe that we've only scratched the surface of and then cause it all to implode in less than 5 minutes, I doubt that "clarifying" the ending will help anything. From what I've heard, they're not editing the current ending, they're just adding on to it to explain what happened afterward. That's not good enough. The Spacebrat and Crucible were really stupid ideas that should have been axed or never even brought up during the planning process. If the game was all about rallying the galaxy with no superweapons or genocidal holographic children, I would've easily been on my 6th playthrough by now. Instead, the ending left me so angry and confused that I can't bring myself to even get through Palaven a second time. All I can think about is a new dark age that plunges the whole galaxy into civil war over limited resources and space.

It's clear whats going to happen: Since most people traded in their copy or just don't care anymore, and since the DLC is free and doesn't add any achievements, 1 shmuck from IGN or something is going to download it, play it, and post it on YouTube and then everyone else will just watch that video.

Seeing how our choices never made a difference at all, then seeing the extended cut scenes with another Shepard doesn't even matter. I probably won't get it, I'll just watch it on youtube the day its released.

I read the funniest thing in an advertisement for ME3 from Gamestop (they are offering it for $40 now).

It sounds like they're just making the endings a little more different by showing what happens to the galaxy after the Mass relays explode in each one. Unfortunately, that is my absolute smallest problem with the ending.

I see they've also mentioned new dialog that "clarifies" some things(e.g., massive plot holes), but I'm having a hard time figuring out how they could possibly fix the logical beating the Reapers went through with that fucking kid.

And it won't change the fact that the entire final third of the game felt pretty unpolished. The entire last mission is pretty damn bland compared the final missions of both previous entries.

PS: Anyone else remember that bit when you can go around and have a final word with your squadmates, and it gets randomly interrupted in the middle by a totally pointless turret section, as if the designers thought we would nod off if we went five minutes without shooting something? Yeah, that was really stupid.

...Yeah, I'm done now. WAIT, my opinion on the whole thing. Yeah, I'll watch it on youtube. We'll see. Most likely it'll fix a few tiny problems while making the bigger ones that DON'T get fixed only seem bigger. It will result in a massive shit storm (hopefully but probably not smaller then the first one) and I'll have to avoid this site for about 5 months. Short version: It'll be like a band-aid on a decapitation victim.

Well once it's been made clear that the destination is the world's biggest compost heap there's not much left to hype is there?

I'll get it just to see what it's like. If I feel it doesn't properly pertain to my interpretation of the events that transpired, I'll get rid of it. It's that simple.

Oh sweet. I was hoping for one of these threads to pop up since I just beat the game and wanted to talk about it.

What I thought of the ending: Well it was fucking awesome, then the last ten or so minutes happened. After I beat it, I was just shocked at how bad it was, and was pretty angry for about a day or so. Then I pretty much just got over it and accepted it as the conclusion it was going to get, and that even though the end was bad, I loved the journey a lot more than I hate the end, so I still like the series. Now I kinda want to start all over with a new Shepard.

Personally all I want is for them to clear up a lot of the plot holes for my ending (GREEN) and the other endings.
Why was Joker in FTL travel leaving the system when the Green light caught up to him when he was supposed to be fighting along with everyone else like they said the Normandy was going to be doing during the fight?

Why the hell were my crew members on the Normandy, especially Garrus, who just took a Harbinger to his everything?

What will happen now that everyone is part synthetic and organic?

Other problems I would like to be answered:

If the Mass Effect Relays were all destroyed, and a major portion of all of the space faring races were above earth, and earth is mostly a charred wasteland, (especially in red ending, since all the reapers are destroyed and not controlled by shepard, and everything isn't part synthetic and organic) how the fuck is anyone there going to survive in the long run? Especially the Turians and Quarians who are dextroamino and can't eat the same stuff as humans?

How do any of my choices in the last 3 games effect ANYTHING after the end?

Those are all the things I would like answered that I can think of right now.

EDIT: How do I feel about the extended ending: eh, intrigued I guess? Like I want to get it to see it, but it probably won't make me like the ending any more. Really once it comes out, I want them to stop doing stuff with the Mass Effect universe and move on to something else.

Also one thing I didn't realize or think about which surprises me, how a total of about 10 minutes could apparently completely make people dislike the series in it's entirety.

I have a lot more I wrote. But I'll keep it think for those that are outraged at the ending, it represents to them that Bioware just didn't care, succumbed to EA's deadline pressure, and rushed the game out the window.

Otherwise, in an industry where mainstream games don't have much story other than "gruff military man takes orders and fights the bad guys who have no characterization" Bioware is/was seen as the gem of videogame storytelling (excluding Jeniffer Hepler and such). Mass Effect was built-up on the idea of choices and your choices mattering, the ending destroying that idea.

*puts the finishing touches on the new 'ME3 shit storm shelter'*

i think it'll piss people off again, probably for being 'half assed' but that's just my guess

All I want to know is if there is an actual reason for having a high EMS rating. No, having to pick the preferred option of destoying the reapers for a low EMS doesn't count.
