As suggested in the title.
Your Mom approaches you one day and tells you she's thinking of playing a computer/console game.
Whether she plays already or not. I'm only asking..
What would you recommend now and why?

EDIT: oops I forgot about my own mom, sorry mom.
I would totally reccomend something like a Burnout game. As she is a very 'passionate' driver and I feel it would help her let out some anger once in a while.

Pokémon.

Its easy to pick up, easy to play, and I have a ton of them so it won't be like she's using my DS.

My mom games more than I do. She's big into Popcap and Hoyle games, along with the occasional adventure type.

For some reason I got a "Saw" impression from the title.

Hmmm... I'd recommend something like Broken Sword II. She used to play it, never completed it. Come to think of it, I've not completed it either. So there's the reason that I'd enjoy watching it, and then there's the reason it's a point and click adventure/mystery, so it wouldn't be challenging reactions wise.

She did, and I suggested LittleBigPlanet.

The controls are simple to grasp, and it's got something in it to entertain everyone.

I wouldn't recomend any of the games I play because they are all M-rated and involve blowing peoples heads off.

Hmm I have no idea. My mom got motion sick once from playing a racing game in an arcade. Needless to say she's not really into games. I guess I'd point her towards tetris or farmville.

I've played a variety of games with my mom. Need For Speed (which she used to play when I was younger), Tekken (same as NFS), MW2, LittleBigPlanet, and Rock Band 2 are games I've tried to get her into.

We mostly play Rock Band though but she doesn't play for very long (hurts her wrists).

If she ever played a video game (in the good old days presumably) try to find something that is similar. For example, my mom used to play Mickey Mouse House of Illusion on the Genesis when I was a toddler. If she wanted to play a new game I would point her toward a recent Wii platformer.

If she has never really played any video games I would go with a simple puzzle game or something like that. Those games are some of the only one's that probably include her demographic.

Well, considering my mum already plays...The Sims, Animal Crossing and Professor Layton, I'd say there's no hope for her.

She got tendonitis from playing Animal Crossing too agressively when turning whilst running.

...For my mom?

...That's actually tough. She dislikes hearing me kill things but I think she'd enjoy that. Not an RPG though. She wouldn't get into it. Hm...tough, really. I think Portal. She'd actually enjoy Portal.

FPS games.
She totally rocked Wolfenstein 3D when I was a kid. Breezed through the hardest settings and knew exactly where all the hidden stuff were.

I tried showing her Half-life 2, but she got tired of waiting for the action to begin, then when I finally was done with the intro the game froze... and I hadn't saved.
Couldn't be arsed to make another go.

Portal, my mom isn't that much of a violent person and Portal is a pretty pacifistic game (you don,t kill things you just disable them) and it combines action and puzzle solving (my mom loves puzzles)

Dead Space 2, of course.

Stupid commercials aside, my mom used to play Super Mario Bros. on my NES. Assuming we're going with current gen titles, I'd reccommend Super Mario Galaxy or maybe Mario Kart DS. That's an easy one to learn.

EDIT: i lerned 2 grammar
