Take the shot, even if the force can harm the children I doubt it would do any more than break a rib or two. I would be more worried about the odds of children behind him that could be hit, since a round like the one OP it describing is definitely going to over-penetrate. Furthermore, what's the angle of fire? Are you above him? Below him? Level with him? Regardless, despite the risk to the children if I'm going to save hundreds, maybe thousands of lives with one bullet, then not taking the shot to save my own conscience is just selfish, and what's the life of a single child next to those of a hundred? Wars aren't won by holding the moral high ground. Evil men succeed when good men do nothing, and if you have the chance to stop the bastard, then you ought to do what needs to be done.
