...define "normal clothing store"... I don't think I've ever been in one. I tend to buy my clothing at either thrift, outdoor/sport or military surplus stores...
If I was shopping for clothing in a place with no useful hardware... I'd grab a backpack, some sports drinks, a rainsuit of some sort, and bug out to somewhere I can acquire useful hardware.

...more direct answer: I'd stick with whatever I was wearing at the time, basically. I don't waste time thinking about fashion now, why would I start with the zombie apocalypse?
