Society of Justice 3: Crisis on the Earth

As soon as the ramp to the Merriweather was lowered the first sound was an extremely loud drilling before the air was then filled with a louder sawing sound.

"Certainly sounds like he's up to something!" Garrus yelled over all the noise, covering his ears as he walked down the ramp and turned to Mordtoten's house. It was a simple two-story home that was a light blue color with grey borders all around it. The two odd things about it was it's lack of garage (it only having a porch that covered the whole front) and the large array of lawn gnomes and flamingos in the front yard. "Don't trust those things on his lawn, they're a part of his security system!" Garrus yelled to the new recruits, quickly sending a large shock wave to destroy them before recovering his ears. He signaled for everyone to follow in after him, heading through the lawn and inside the house after kicking down the front door.

Holy hell, what is he doing in there?

Levi could barely hear himself think as he descended the boarding ramp into a solid wall of noise. He worked with loud machinery in the past, but nothing this loud. He decided against covering his ears despite the intense noise, just in case he needed his hands to throw a magnetic blast or something similar. Following Garrus inside, Levi started channeling magnetic energy through his arms, anticipating a fight. He wasn't about to take any chances, not with someone as unpredictable as Mordtoten.

Brian debarked from the plane and followed after the other two. "Holy jeez, eh? I mean, what is that? What the hell is he doing in there, torturing a polar bear? Why would he do that?" He didn't have any weapons, his hockey stick resting at home, so he readied his dukes as he went inside the house.

"It's my light and dark power. I got it from my father. It's extremely powerful when I'm pissed off though. The only down fall. It's an odd power and other then my father only I have it." Alex said making some light dance around her hand.

While everyone else was suffering from the ear rape, Requiem was completely fine after turning off his ability to hear. He examined the items in Mordtoten's house, somewhat surprised that everything was so well kept considering that Mordtoten would spend all his time in his lab if Requiem remembered correctly. He noticed a number of odd things here and there, some imported items that seemed to have been ripped apart for one particular thing inside and, oddly enough, a kit for Giga Pudding.

He shrugged as he continued walking around, admiring the little trinkets that were left around in the old-fashioned house. He was sure to examine each room before entering, knowing that there were a number of traps that the Professor would have put up. When he disarmed all the simple security measures that led to the basement lab he backtracked to let the others know to follow him. After a few beeps he realized it would be pointless trying it that way and instead had 'Follow me, this way <----' form on his visor.

"Great, what now? Is he doing the damn virus thing again, oh wait no, he's probably trying to find some odd way to move Jupiter into orbit around the Earth." Richard groused as he walked in, he had already set the suit so it was silent inside. Being airtight sometimes had its benefits.

"God damnit." Was all Lillian said as she couldn't hear anyone, even with the earplugs she used to keep the guns from deafening her, it was still loud as hell.

Taryn tried to raise her jacket high enough to cover her ears but the action was futile since the collar was not high enough. With a frustrated sigh - which became lost in all the noise - she jogged quickly after Garrus and Levi. With a few quick jerks Taryn straightened her jacket and stepped around the splintered and now nonfunctional front door. 'Effective...but messy.' she noted. Taryn quickly scanned the room. Levi seemed to be ready to fight. Her gaze landed on Requiem next. He had some sort of scrolling...'Oh...that way. Wait, what's that way?'

"Aah, grife, what the hell is he doing?" Katie grumbled, more to herself than anyone else, as she followed the others inside. She had finished off the armour to encase her head once she had left the Merriweather; it kinda dulled the sounds coming from Mordtoten's house, though it wasn't completely muteable.

Rowan, however, was not so lucky. He had his hands firmly locked over his ears, accompanied by the odd grimace, although it did little to prevent the almost painfully loud noises pervading his head. It actually began to give him a headache after a few minutes.

Levi became aware of Requiem approaching the group, with words formed on his visor.

Follow me, this way <----

, it read. He opened his mouth to reply to the cyborg, but quickly abandoned the idea, as his woulds would be lost in the chaotic din. Instead, he opted to gesture towards Requiem, hoping the others would see what his visor said. Levi still didn't entirely trust him, but he was sure that Requiem wouldn't pull a fast one on them with his brother Garrus here.

Eric covered his ears and growled. "What is the crazy jack ass doing now?" he asked to him self and looked at Alex noticing she wasn't effect by the sound. Well she always was oblivious to things like that.

Alex walked out of the ship and looked around smirking as no one noticed her ears were covered by a small gray light keeping out any loud noise. She put it in right before she fount Tyson. "hehe." she said laughing to her self.

Once everyone was paying attention to him Requiem led them down to the lab's door. He pointed to it to show that this is where they needed to go before it was flung open, Garrus' once raised hand being lowered before he headed on down the stairs below.

As he descended with everyone else following him he noticed that there was a lot of dust in the air, somewhat clouding his view of the brightly lit room below. As the noise got louder Garrus saw Mordtoten using what looked to be a jackhammer and drill mixed together. He also noticed a plug in the wall which he quickly pulled, the deafening sound finally coming to a halt as the machine Mordtoten was using stopped.

"Oh what the fuck is this shit!? This stupid contraption. Fourth time I'll have to fix it in just two days!" Mordtoten complained as he kicked the machine. He moved his goggles up to his forehead as he tried to examine the machine, completely oblivious to those around him. His usual attire of a sweater vest and lab coat were hanging on a chair near his desk, his current attire being a light blue button-down that was unbuttoned with the sleeves rolled up and a normal white shirt underneath that. He coughed a few times and cursed again after seeing some blood on his glove, saying something about how something had probably ruptured due to being in contact with the machine.

Garrus decided enough was enough and cleared his throat, Mordtoten turning around and cursing up a storm when he saw all of them.

Levi brought his shirt up over his nose before going down the stairs, seeing the thick dust in the air. Suddenly, and to Levi's relief, the noise stopped. A ringing remained in his ears as he made his way down to see Mordtoten cursing at a bizarre looking machine. The scientist's vocabulary became much more colorful when he became aware of their presence. Stepping forward, Levi spoke to him. "Mind explaining what you're doing down here, Mordtoten?" he asked, gesturing to the machine he had just kicked. "Heard you've been making quite a racket".

"Oh and look at this tough guy coming in here and asking me questions. Never seen him before, must be one of your new recruits since you seem to always bring them to me first! This one looks vaguely familiar though, have I met you before? Mad science convention perhaps?" Mordtoten asked as he got closer and looked Levi over with an inquisitive look.

"Nice goggles," Mordtoten added before turning to look at the rest of the new recruits, "Gah so many! Shame I donn't have anything fun like I did for the last batch..."

"Do you umm still have that tape Mordtoten?" Alex asked still thinking back fondly to the beach. "damn the beach." she said smirking.

"Anyway what are you up to you crazy *****?" she asked.

"Mordtoten, explain what the hell it is you think you're doing and tell us how to fix it so that this can be over already. The new recruits are here because, like clockwork, you have some new invention that has the cops calling us because you did something stupid and it went to shit. First it was the virus, then it was Fluffykins or Mr. Fluffernutter or whatever the hell its name was, so what is it this time?" Richard said, already annoyed at the ever oblivious Mordtoten.

"I'd also rather like to know what it is you're doing, if only so we can explain to the police." Lillian said.

Levi felt somewhat uncomfortable with Mordtoten approaching him, but he did his best to stand his ground. "I'm afraid I've never met you before, although you look pretty familiar yourself," he replied. "Also, for the record, I'm not a new recruit," Levi added. He hadn't seen this man before in his life, but something was familiar about him. That feeling clung to him, and Levi knew that it wouldn't stop bugging him until figured out exactly why this mad scientist stood out to him. "Oh, and um...thanks. Your goggles aren't half bad themselves".

"Well sorry for mistaking you as a rookie. Honestly only really remember a few of you, no offense. And thank you for the compliment. One of a kind these babies are, an...old friend gave them to me quite a long time ago," Mordtoten replied to Levi before hearing Alex ask him a question.

"Well of course Miss Crazy Slut loved the fucking beach incident. God it was just so...urgh shouldn't have let it happen at a beach. And yes I do happen to have a recording of it somewhere, though like hell you guys will be getting it," he told Alex as he crossed his arms.

"As for what I'm doing, simply trying to work on something. This small particle of energy I have for a project needs to be held in a very specific container to keep it safe and to harvest the energy from it. That's what this drilling was for and such. Other than that I haven't done anything wrong...well I did steal all of the neighbour's apples but I needed those to power another one of my inventions. Though of course I had to put in an orange by accident and now it doesn't work properly! Fucking sucks," Mordtoten complained, almost going to go off on another tangent.

Alex sent a wave of ice at Mordtoten and growled some. "you make us all horny as hell with the damn fail machine of yours." Alex said.

"I didn't mind fucking Alex, Leland and Richard." Eric piped in.

"I'm sure you didn't." Alex said rolling her eyes.

As Alex sent an ice wave at Mordtoten he quickly brought out a small device and pressed a button, a solid red laser shooting up from the ground and melting the ice before it could reach him.

"Hah! Knew you couldn't take being called what you really are and would try to attack, thankfully I decided to add some security in here to protect me...though it only works against solid attacks and such, but whatever!" Mordtoten said, not feeling like going into the semantics of it.

"Alright look, whatever. Let's just stop talking about the goddamn beach!" Garrus yelled as he took a step to be in between Mordtoten and Alex, "Look Mordtoten you can't be making all this ruckus here by using that loud-ass drill! And don't start trying to talk back, you just can't. Along with that we have to make sure you're not lying to us and check each of these machines."

"Pfft fine. Few of them work though. My focus has specifically been on my invention that is a decade in the making! It'll revolutionize science and our understand of the universe as we know it! However I only have the schematics of it so far...once I get that energy container done I can get to work on actually making it a reality!"

 

[CounterAttack]

"Okay, I'm hearing things I'm not sure I want to even think about, so let's cut to the chase," Katie said, walking forward to stand closer to Mordtoten. As an aesthetic touch, she caused large black thorns to erupt all over her armour, hoping to intimidate the scientist into answering her.

"What inventions do you have that actually work? Don't even think about going anywhere to show them off, just answer the question," she demanded. "Oh, and tell us how to cut the power to anything operational, just in case you've rigged something to backfire on us."

Quickly understanding the implications of the conversation, Rowan facepalmed. "I may have had some bizarre encounters, but if I'm understanding this correctly, it tops anything I've done or had done to me," he muttered to himself, shaking his head behind the facepalm. Dismissing the thought - while it was difficult to do so - he pulled himself together and focused on the 'scientist' standing before the Society.
