Levi shot Alex a quick glance of disapproval. "Was that really necessary?" he asked. In any case, the insanely prepared Mordtoten countered her attack. He also couldn't help but raise his eyebrow at Eric's offhand comment as well. Can't help but say I agree with Garrus, Levi thought, agreeing entirely with his angered outburst. The idea of inspecting Mordtoten's machines caught his interest. As a scientist himself, Levi was somewhat curious as to how this strange man created these increasingly strange inventions.

"Fine, fine. Look I'm staying right here. No moving. Basically what works is the hand-held devices. You know: the shrink ray, the smart-o ray, those types of things. Basically all of those work well enough. When it comes to the bigger machines only around four are functional, including the Gigantor-Ray that I used with Fluffykins. All of those can simply be unplugged to de-power. The one thing that isn't is my invention that was originally designed to turn one thing into another, but since the original source of power got messed up (fucking oranges) I have absolutely no clue what it does now. Haven't even tried to turn it off, too worried to do so," Mordtoten replied, moving his sore neck around and trying to crack it.

"And which one would that be?" Garrus asked, getting pointed to an eight-foot tall machine that reminded him of a large juicer with an extremely large gun barrel attached.

Looking at a machine that resembled an eight foot tall juicer with what looked like the barrel of a massive gun attached to it, Levi was absolutely perplexed how it could do anything at all. Especially if it runs on oranges. Interesting power source, to say the least. Cautiously approaching the giant machine, Levi could pick up the faint smell of citrus through his shirt. Judging the air to be clean enough to breathe, he pulled his shirt back down and straightened it out. "Huh. Interesting design. Still can't figure out how it's supposed to do anything..." he said idly as he walked in a circle around Mordtoten's perplexing device.

"Best not to touch it, then," Rowan commented, walking over to Levi but staying a few metres away from the contraption. "If you don't know what something does, or how to use it, you leave it alone unless you've read the instructions and understood them. That's what was drummed into my head as a kid, and I figure the same reasoning applies here. Am I right?"

He thought for a few moments, wondering if there was a way to power down the strange device from a distance. Maybe it had a remote control, or was somehow voice-activated. Heck, maybe it even used a clapper to turn on and off. He wasn't going to try it, though.

"Hmm... Levi, you control magnetism, right?. Does that apply to electromagnetism, à la an EMP?" he asked. "Maybe that'll shut that thing off, if Mordtoten's so scared that he won't unplug it."

Levi bristled a bit at Rowan's comment about not touching the machine. To a degree, he felt slightly insulted, but he was willing to let it slide. His question that followed, however, was a bit more interesting. He turned to face the shapeshifter. "I can control and direct electricity as part of my skill set, but Taryn is the one who actually can generate and safely absorb it. Perhaps between the two of us we can shut this machine down, if necessary..." Levi replied, now intrigued by the idea himself. It was certainly within the realm of possibility to safely shut down the machine by combining Taryn's powers and his own. Turning around to face the rest of the group, he shrugged. "What do you guys say? Rowan has a good idea, I think".

Brian had been taking everything in. It was his first time with this crazy bastard, so he didn't want to go too out of line on the first mission. He was actually pretty happy he hadn't been called out or anything yet.

"Yeah, I think you should do it up there," it told Levi. "Probably the only way to get this guy stopped, eh?"

"I want to know what this thing does first. If we shut it off and it is say, a containment unit for a nuclear fusion reactor, then we just fucked the world over. Long shot considering who we are talking about here, but he may have failed so hard that he was successful in a completely different area." Richard replied to Levi.

----------------------

"I honestly doubt anything Mordtoten created is that dangerous. Let's shut it down." Lillian said.

"I'm with Richard on this one. I mean, I know 'curiosity killed the cat', but destroying this thing probably wouldn't be the best thing to do immediately. I mean, what if ol' Morty over anticipated our arrival and planted a bomb or something in this thing, and triggered it to go off when blunt force or a makeshift EMP was applied? Besides, something as harmless looking as this thing probably doesn't do much." Jason stated, knocking on the metal casing of the rather large machine.

"It looks like some type of juice gun. Maybe he just made because he didn't like store-bought juice?" Erebus queried.

"I dunno, he must really loathe store-bought juice if gave this thing his undivided attention for ten years." Jason thought, raising an eyebrows in intrigue.

Tyson finished installing the new plates on his armor. Light and dark powers huh. Strange. As the bay door opened outside Tyson could hear an extremely loud near deafening noise coming from outside. Shit! Please tell me I brought them. Please tell me I brought them. Tyson opened his bag and ripped through it looking for some ear plugs but had no luck finding them. Shit.

Tyson removed his gun and put one magazine in it before inserting the other five into his ammo belt and walking outside behind everyone. So everyone rushes in and no one waits to see if its a trap and people are going to attack us from outside. Tyson waited outside for a few minutes. The deafening noise stopped after a couple and Tyson saw nothing that would constitute suspicion in the time and felt it was safe to go inside and join the others.

Tyson stepped through the splinter filled doorway and followed the voices and footprints of the other members of the society before reaching a doorway leading into a stairwell that was full of dust. When Tyson got to the bottom of the stairs he saw something resembling a giant drill which likely was causing the previous noise. "Does he have a permit for that thing?" Tyson asked before realizing everyone was focused on a giant machine that looked like an over sized juicer. I bet that thing makes a mean kiwi lime twist.

"What you guys want to destroy it? I mean...I only worked out the idea in my head for a week before taking a month of my life to build the thing...then spending over a year collecting enough apples to run it. It wasn't my fault one of those damn kids next door decided to put a small orange into one of the barrels! Since then I haven't touched the thing, instead working on my masterpiece!" Mordtoten said and turned to an empty corner of the room and pointing.

"There's nothing there..." Leland told the Professor, a slightly confused look on his face.
"Well when it gets to be over there that's what I'll do. I'll point to it all extravagantly like this. Look I don't need to explain that to you people. You guys don't even care do you? You just like shutting my inventions down before they even get used or anything; before I have time to perfect them," Mordtoten said solemnly, going over to take a seat at his desk and laying his head down against it.

"Well, you have no one to blame for our actions but yourself. If you haven't realized Morty, The last time you perfected a invention, we almost died by a virus, and then we had to fight a giant monitor lizard....and then there's the beach incident...So you have to understand that, we do this because we care for our well-beings. Chances are, this machine right here probably does something to annoy/harm us as well. But...that doesn't mean that I don't want to see what it does..." Jason stated simply as pointed back at the Juicer 3000 Deluxe, his curiosity still lingering about what the strange machine was supposed to do.

"So basically what your saying is your an idiot. You could have noticed the orange, hell why are you even making a big ass juicer?" Alex asked crossing her arms tightly. "And why do you need apples?" she asked out of curiosity.

"This is amazing. I mean I've never seen anything like this before. Hmmmmmmm I say we keep it. It could do some good." Eric said. In truth he wanted to take it apart and play with it.

'I wonder if he's ever considering moving...' Taryn thought idly as she listened to Mordtoten blame his next door neighbors for his invention's odd power source and general failure.

She'd remained silent while the other group members tossed ideas back and forth about the mad scientist's machine. The idea of generating an EMP was interesting but without having tested one before Taryn was hesitant to say that it was a good idea. The Merriweather sitting outside could be at risk if they tried to create an EMP. And being stranded at Mordtoten's would not be a good thing. Perhaps simply shutting the machine down, if that was the group's consensus. That sounded better.

"You're the idiot," Mordtoten replied back to Alex, not leaving his chair, "I couldn't notice the fucking orange because it was in a fucking basket filled with fucking apples, and it was just one of many fucking baskets that I was dumping into the machine because it takes a fuckload to get the damn thing to work! As for powering it, well there is a certain compound that only apples have that can fuel the machine....though with that orange in it now..."

"And it's not all my fault. I was ordered to make the virus, you guys unleashed it...well Syke's men too but whatever. As for Fluffykins he was just to teach a lesson, and he did good right? Helped that last batch of recruits get a feel for superheroing. As for the beach well...yeah let's just end that there," Mordtoten replied to Jason.

"Mordtoten, you have got to be the worst scientist when it comes to controlling variables. You should have looked through your baskets for possible contaminants, even if you have a large amount. Fuck it, if Mordtoten screwed up the power supply, it is likely to malfunction anyway. Us turning it off won't make a damn lick of difference." Richard replied.

"Jeez eh, you know, why not just buy apple juice if you really needed the power all that badly?" Brian asked, a bit curious about the methods. "I mean, it's probably cheaper, and you know there isn't any oranges getting in that because its already juice. And then you don't have to have the huge juicer on the thing, you just pour the juice in like in a fuel tank, eh? Just seems a bit easier, that's all I'm saying."

Jeez, this guy has done some weird shit. Really hope he doesn't do that horny thing again. I do not like the ratio here if that happened.

"You can't juice store-bought juice and expect to get all-natural young stupid man! The world doesn't work that way, even up wherever you come from. Do you even know all the crap they put into apple juice nowadays!? If I were to put juice from a fucking store in there it'd probably cause a fucking explosion or something! God it'd be as if I decided to just drink a bunch of apple juice and pissed it into the machine! Science works in specific ways alright?" Mordtoten ranted, his arms flailing about to accentuate what he was saying.

Taryn took a step towards the machine and slowly looked it up and down. Despite the indecision surrounding it Taryn was tempted to try and link with the...whatever it was. 'Does it have a name?' While she silently debated Taryn backtracked through the conversation with Mordtoten. 'What did he mean by a 'masterpiece'? That sounds ominous.' Taryn glanced over to where Mordtoten had gestured during his reply to Leland. It was still empty space.

Deciding not to mess with the machine Taryn backed up to her original 'spot'. She slid her left hand in her pocket and lightly gripped the phone strapped inside. With a brief thought she silently activated the phone's recording app. There was a limited recording time and the sound quality wasn't top notch. But it was faster than trying to take notes and kept her hands free. Taryn frowned at the ranting scientist.

"Well, if it's gonna malfunction, then maybe we should disable it before it can do so," Rowan answered Richard. "If it runs on juice, and there's a juicer... maybe he hasn't put them through yet," he mused to himself, taking a stepladder from its position up against the wall next to the strange machine.

"If they haven't gone through, perhaps there's a way to remove the juicer before it can be activated," he continued as he set up the ladder and climbed up to look inside. His logic was that there would have to be some way of getting the apples into the machine, and a simple chute wouldn't work, otherwise Mordtoten would have found the renegade orange.

Looking down from the ladder, Rowan saw a funnel of sorts with large circular saw-blades at the bottom. Chunks of apple core and juice stains were all up the sides of the funnel, some pieces lodged between the saw's teeth. "Ah, crap, he's already done it," he stated, climbing down.

"Well, if the machine's powered, we should get out while we still can," Katie quickly chipped in. "Who knows what that thing's gonna do. It could explode, or vaporise us all, or... God dammit, Mordtoten. You can be such a jerk sometimes."

Furrowing his brow in thought, Levi placed his hand against the cold metal of Mordtoten's machine. "I still think it might be best to try deactivating this thing. Either way, we take a huge risk," he said as he closed his eyes. Reaching out with his abilities, Levi was able to "see" the inner workings of the strange machine. It was akin to an x-ray in the fact that he could only see the metal "skeleton". However, it was enough for Levi to determine that there were in fact no explosives or anything of that nature inside the machine. "And as for fears this might be a bomb? I'm not feeling anything in here," he said just loud enough to be heard, as he was still focusing his attention on the machine.
