Tyson's vision cleared and the dizziness subsided while the pain from the previously dislocated joint vanished. Brian removed his hands and Tyson looked up and said, "thanks a lot man. I'm sorry about the whole knocking you out thing, but well there wasn't a lot of time and contrary to your believes your powers still work here." As his made it up Tyson's vision saw Taryn running towards the stage and pointed to the stage. "These other cuts won't kill me and it looks like Taryn knows where to now. We'll have to forgo the rest of the healing and finish off Victor." Tyson got and and started after Taryn. Note to self. Ask Richard to make me a helmet.

Garrus nodded at Taryn and stood up, addressing everyone, "We have a way to go now everyone, just be prepared for anything...if what Levi said is true we might just have our chance of getting rid of Victor in this next level." With that he headed over to the stage with Taryn, climbing on top of it and looking around for the trap door.

"At least he made it easy enough to find, instead of giving us an address for this city or something," Garrus said with a slight chuckle as he walked around onstage before finding a large square door on the stage, kneeling down next to it and looking it over, "I think this might just be it. I don't know much about trap doors and such, but it's a big square that looks like it can be lifted or something...perhaps there is a lever around here."

Brian got up after Tyson declared himself fit and rested his rather heavy walking stick on his shoulder. "All right! Let's knock this fucker out once and for all!" He followed after the group heading towards the stage. The trap door that Levi had pointed out was very noticeable. There wasn't any kind of opener on it, though. He grabbed one of the cracks and tried to lift it up but it wasn't moving at all. "Shoot, this thing must be stuck. Anyone else want to try to get this thing open?"

"Right. Stage three... hopefully the last fight with this guy," Rowan mused, walking over. "Why do things like these always come in threes?" He was, of course, referring to the old movie or game clichés where the Chief Antagonist was always met and/or fought in the third room.

[hr]

"All right. Let's get through that door and finish this. Time Victor got what's coming to him," Katie said with a hint of anger in her voice, joining the group at the trapdoor. She set her improvised weapon aside to take a look at it; it seemed pretty sturdy, reinforced with an iron band at one end to hold the wood in place. Nothing she couldn't deal with; where strength failed, wisdom succeeded.

Katie placed one hand on the trapdoor, concentrating momentarily. Within a few seconds, the wood of the trapdoor shrank down and transmuted into a large leaf over the hole. Katie pulled off and was momentarily blinded by another source of the bright white light that they had seen before entering the Victorian-era realm.

Here we go...

"On the bright side, at least this makes the video game far easier to design." Richard said as he walked over to the others still leaning somewhat heavily on the cane but it was less noticeable now. He followed the others through the trap door, not bothering to mention yet another cliche if this hadn't been real.

So it's a murderous and less weird version of Alice in Wonderland, got it.

Jason and Erebus brung up the rear of the pack, approaching the stage along with the others.

"So, just for the record, in order to defeat our antagonist, we have to descend lower into Levi's mind."

"Yup."

"So, what you're saying is that, in order to win, 'We Must Go Deeper'?" Erebus replied with a chuckle, Jason sighing in return.

"I should've seen that comi-GAHH!" Jason said lowly, finding himself caught off guard from the bright flash of light leading into the final area. Following suit with Richard, Jason and Erebus cannonballed into the hole of light, unaware of what was to happen next, but glad that it would almost be over.

"I didn't even see that movie," Brian commented as the members started heading into the blinding light that had spread from the stage. "All right, then I'll just SWAN DIVE into the worst fight of my life!" He was true to his word as he spread his arms open and dove in through the hole in the stage.

Steven looked skeptically at the portal. 'Right,' he thought. 'So, My arms don't work, me legs don't work, and if I try another big attack, I'll probably go comatose. I can't let anyone find out. I have to kill Victor!' Moving his armor in place of his limbs, he walked-a little stiffly-upstage and jumped into the hole.

The white light once again engulfed the team as they entered the opening where the trapdoor once lay. Before the light dissipated, the smell of thick smoke assaulted the noses of the heroes. Once it vanished completely, they were greeted with a grisly sight.

They were in the lounge of the Promenade, but everything was horribly wrong. All around them, the lounge was in ruins, far worse than what the Union had done. They had simply looted the place; this was pure destruction. Nothing in the room stood intact. The walls, the furniture, the various decorations, nothing. Everything was in tatters and pieces. Rubble littered the floor around them and blood was splattered everywhere. Through the gigantic holes in the walls, the sight of Nova City in flames added to the apocalyptic tone and casted a faint orange light into the devastated room.

It was then the team noticed the ghastliest display. Sprawled around the lobby were the corpses of every member of the Society. Each body showed signs of extensive trauma and a wide variety of grotesque injuries. Some, such as Tommy and Jason, were simply beaten to death. Others, such as Katie and Steven, lay dead and ablaze.

Looking around the room, the team could see a bullet-ridden Lillian, Richard with his armor crushed inwards and dripping blood with a fallen Alex by his side, Tyson with an expression of perpetual agony and blood running from his ears, Ethan slumped against a wall sparking, Garrus crushed by large pile of debris, Brian impaled upon his hockey stick, Leland slumped against the burning Katie, Rowan smashed into one of the walls, and Eric with his face caved in from a brutal punch.

Alex was in shock seeing Richard dead next to her body. "Oh god this..... is horrible." Alex said walking over to his dream body. "I know this is a dream but still not something I like seeing." Alex said looking over at her body.

Eric gasped seeing his face caved in. "Well that's uncalled for. It's my face man." Eric said sighing. "I mean come on, I like living and well I can't with a face like that." he added.

"It's gruesome, but it's just the visual version of one of Omoi's little speeches. Bluster and bombast with exactly zero evidence to back the threat up. Let's get moving so that we can all work together, defeat this guy, then get the hell out of here." Richard said, relatively unimpressed with the display before him. He had seen much worse when Leleand had his mind and heard all the same threats the scene implied from Omoi. It was all starting to run together really, each guy talked big and won some battles but all of them fell in the end.

Both Katie and Rowan froze in their tracks, horrified at what lay before the Society. Unable to speak, Katie simply stared at her burning corpse, the plants she would have been wearing long since incinerated. She placed her hands over her mouth and eventually turned away, trying to find something - anything - that held at least some form of semblance to the original Promenade. Sadly, she found nothing.

[hr]

"My God... That man is as good as dead," Rowan murmured angrily, looking around at the desecrated building. His eyes froze briefly on the bloody mess that he recognised - only by the hair - as himself. Something wasn't right, though. Sure, everything, including the Society members, was utter ruin, but he noted that something was missing.

"There's no Taryn here," he noted, shooting a look at the technopath herself. "Wonder why that is."

"That fucking egomaniacal little twat!" Brian was livid now. Not only was he dead in Victor's little dreamworld, but he disrespected the noble hockey stick by using it as his death weapon. "I'm going to smash out every single one of his teeth, make him eat his teeth, smash out his eyeball and then feed his body to the fucking wolverines man! Where the fuck is he! This better be it right here! I'm killing that arrogant cocksucker!"

Tyson stepped into the portal and fell through. He found himself in the Promenade's lounge with the others. It was completely destroyed and most of the team's corpses were littered all over the place. Tyson spotted his own corpse. It was badly beaten with blood coming out of his ears. The look on his face showed agony but that wasn't right. Not in the slightest.

Tyson walked over to his body and knelt down on one knee. Tyson closed his own body's eyes and shifted the facial expression on the face to a more neutral expression. Tyson whispered the words, "you are a lie. He knows nothing of our powers. He knows nothing of our pain and struggle. Most importantly he knows nothing of the fact that we would give him nothing that would give him anything."

Tyson stood back up. The light of the fire from the burning of the city glowed revealing half of his face while the other was shrouded in darkness. "Victor! Show yourself! This little trick is worthless! Although I shouldn't expect much more from a coward! I also have a present for you! So why not come out and get it you bloody billy no-mates Berk!" Tyson shouted. Come on out. I only do this on special occasions and I think this counts. I'm going past my point of control and will make sure you don't ever think with a sound thought again.

Jason nodded with Richard's unimpressed droll. As much as he didn't like the sight of his (and Erebus') dead body before him, Jason's experience with killing adversaries/seeing dead bodies rendered this gory scene almost ineffective.

"Yeah, let's move on. It won't be long before these bodies start to stink...and some of them are already starting to." He stated quietly, taking note of the stench of burning flesh in the air. He and Erebus wandered over to their dead body, Jason kneeling down to examine closer.

"As insanely powerful (and...insane) as this guy is, you'd think the deaths would be a little more...creative." Erebus pointing out, crossing his arms in disappointment.

"I know right? Looks like he just sat on top of me and pummeled several spots until you finally cracked, and then he kinda didn't stop until I was dead. I do wonder why I just sat there and took it though...I'm sure there's a few ways I could've wiggled away from this predicament..." Jason analyzed the injuries his other body severely sustained, now intrigued in how Victor actually killed him.

'Fourteen bodies...minus one.' Taryn swallowed hard and shook her head. 'I don't want to know.' She told herself firmly. But she still wondered. Morbid curiosity. Taryn turned as some of the team began ranting. Brian's choice of words would have ordinarily been amusing. But Taryn was distracted by her missing body. The team ranged from angry to horrified. Both of which Taryn could relate to. She had been expecting goons, perhaps more nun creatures. But seeing the team bloody and defeated was a more deeply cutting blow then any minion could accomplish.

'Where am I?...'

"Oh jeez, I can't even escape death in other people's dreams," Leland muttered, frowning at the death and destruction he saw. He wasn't as fazed as most of the others were seeing everything before them, he had seen a similar scene in a dream before. He looked over at the turned-away Katie, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder.

Garrus simply stared at the bodies, turning his head away before telling everyone, "This is just a way for him to try and make uneasy. We'll show him that things like this won't weaken us."

Steven looked down on his corpse. "I'm dead?" was all he could say. 'I can die. Victor can kill me. This is real.' He looked down at his corpse once more, noting something funny; his sunglasses were still on his charred body. Neither Levi nor Victor had seen him without his sunglasses or his helmet.

"Victor. I hope right now you can here me." With the last bit of his energy, he summoned his full suit of armor, and brought a massive halberd to his side. "I am Helios. I slay demons. One of us is going to die today." His voice was calm, his movements were slow. He was beyond emotions. This was all business to him. He didn't care if he died or if Victor did; either way, he would find peace.

The quiet, tense atmosphere of the lounge suddenly took a turn for the worse when the silence was broken by a horrendous crashing sound. A body flew through the double doors on the other side of the room, leaving an explosion of wood in its wake. Smashing hard into the ground halfway between the destroyed door and the Society team, the human projectile came to a rest on the floor. As the figure rolled over onto its back, Taryn's bruised and battered face moved into the light for all to see. She appeared to be unconscious, her breaths coming in short, ragged, and labored. Her clothing was bloodstained and charred in many places, thin wisps of smoke radiating from the burned material. Random arcs of electricity ran up and down her inert form as she lay unmoving.

Another figure flew across the room, this time in a graceful leap as opposed to a projectile trajectory. Victor landed in a crouch at the feet of unconscious Taryn. He grabbed the helpless woman by her neck and held her up. Grinning, he clenched his hand around her throat, snapping her neck instantly with a loud crack. Taryn went limp and Victor tossed her dead body aside. The corpse slammed into a wall and came to rest on the floor.

Victor's solid black gaze focused on the team of heroes before them. Some of them were clearly agitated and ready to fight. Perfect. "I hope you like what I've done with the place," he said to them while gesturing to the destruction around him. "I don't like the color myself, but I think it fits".

"Now, I'm sure you're expecting some sort of...'evil monologue' where I explain my goals, my motives, how useless it is to stop me, and all that rubbish, but I prefer the short and sweet version. Simply put, the Society of Justice the biggest obstacle to my freedom. With all of you out of the way, I am free to do whatever I see fit. Namely, the destruction of your 'Promenade' and anyone else who dares to oppose me. But of course, I've said too much. I'm sure some of you want to take a swing at me". Victor smirked stood with his arms akimbo. "I'm waiting".

Even without the electrical arcs Taryn knew what and who the projectile was. Who it had to be. Herself. Her double. And still Taryn froze and was helpless to watch as Victor leapt into view. Her double was mercilessly executed. By him. The sound of snapping bones seemed to echo through Taryn's head. She closed her eyes and shook her head slowly. But still the sound stayed with her. Taryn opened her eyes. Her gazed fixated on the broken body. The body Victor just...tossed aside.

She'd fought Victor before. She'd fought him physically and mentally. But this. This was different. This caused her to doubt. She...Her body...no...that body...that body was not her. 'Not me...it's not me.' She was still alive, damnit. She wasn't dead. Not yet. Not now. Taryn scowled and defiantly turned away from Victor's credibly realistic illusion.

"I'm waiting."

'You won't have to wait long.' Still shaky from the encounter Taryn nonetheless began to channel her power. She called electricity without a particular attack in mind. More force than finesse the white arcs that appeared covered from her forearm to the tips of her fingers. Back and forth the arcs ran, restless and a match to Taryn's flickering emotions. Holding her arms out at her sides Taryn gathered more power.
