You have to flirt with them.

It's motherfucking hilarious when you do that.

I'll either ignore it or ask them why they haven't gotten out of fifth grade yet. Either that, or commend them for pointing out the obvious in as snide a manner as I can manage.

"Your mastery(grasp, comprehension, etc) of the obvious is impressive." A la ME2.
Usually followed up with "Care to tell me what colour the sky is, next?"

Usually I don't dignify their juvenile insult with an answer, but it relies heavily on what part of the internet the insult came from. In a Youtube comment section I often insult them back just to see if I can them even more riled up, simply because having a rational, hell even sane conversation on Youtube generally never happens. Should it be someone here on the Escapist however I'd probably start a more serious discussion (luckily that hasn't happened yet). More often than not though I just ignore it.

if someone calls me gay, I put on my best sterotypical "gay voice" and flap my hand down while saying "Oh stop it, you big silly goose"

I just insult their intelligence. It gets even funnier when they have no clue what the words actually mean.

Immediate response is to offer to hook up with them, lick your lips and wink.

If you're sufficiently confident with you're sexuality and your friends are, and this is a real life scenario, where the insulter can see you, its always fun to give em a quick kiss. Really freaks em out.

Well for one thing, you were not only in an internet argument... you were in a YouTube argument.

And the second someone brings the "gay" insult (or any insult whatsoever) into an argument, I just roll my eyes because they've officially lost all credibility and any further time I spend talking to them about it would be a waste of time.

I feel like this may have been a ploy to get me to read your comic strip.

So in critique of the comic strip, the art was good, but the joke too specific, and too wordy.

Hope that helps.
Edit: I agree with Sneakle here but to answer the question you eventually asked:

I've found I'm a fan of Michael Ian Blacks take on homosexuality. Paraphrased: Being gay shouldn't make you less of a man but more of a man. You're so much of a man that a woman isn't enough, you need another man. To this I add the only thing manly than being gay would be F'ing wild grizzly bears.

"Oh, Im called a ****** by some guy over the internet. Will my life ever be the same?"

I got a thumbs up for that, actually.

Than there was also, "Yes, I am gay... but you, good sir, you are the ******."
