Really fantastic sci-fi movie proof of concept:
https://vimeo.com/122368314

This needs to be made into a feature. Now.

I realize no one here can give him the money (there's no fundraiser as of now), but movie studios read these forums, right?

Its a cool little sequence, but I don't get it. What is going on?

Are they supposed to be space whalers or something?

It pretty cool but what is the Leviathan? I mean this was under the video "Proof of Concept/pitch for The Leviathan, created by Ruairi Robinson." Is The Leviathan based on a book or something?
EDIT- Almost forgot, is not looking down on a flying vehicle is a trope or something (first US Godzilla come to my mind).

The Leviathan is a Biblical sea monster from old testament.

Edit: Having just watched the trailer its Moby Dick in space.

It means it's an idea he has for a feature film, and he doesn't have the money to make all of it. So he makes this short film in the hopes that it impresses some film studios. "The Leviathan" is presumably the name of the film.

And yes, it does look like Moby Dick in space.

The whale is cute in a weird way, I wouldn't mind seeing this if it was made into a feature film.

Just how do you pronounce 'Ruairi' anyway? "Roar-ree"? "Rare-y"?

Heh. Couldn't resist.

.

I quite like Roo-ray's other short films, especially since he somehow managed to get Cillian Murphy to star in his shorts.

Heh.

I also liked The Last Days on Mars if anyone feels like supporting Roo-rah's directing endeavors.

Not so sure about the creature design, but the ships look fantastic. Love those bulky space ships!

From the little discription at the beginning I can only assume these guys are like slave labor whose job it is to collect the eggs of these creatures. Forced to do this dangerous work to keep the current space faring society going. Comparable I guess to miners today.

Dick in space is the Shia LaBeouf space programme. Ruairi is the Irish spelling of Rory.

Yeah the creature looks like the asteroid space worm thing from Star Wars (I refuse to call it a new hope, its bloody star wars)

So they have to hunt Budongs to get FTL travel. Ok.

I mean, I guess if there is some sort of biological process that creates the fuel, it can make sense, but it sounds a little silly getting egg protein to make fuel.

Yes, but it is sci-fi. It's just an allegory or metaphor or something.

I guess it is more like Dune. "The worms ARE the spice". Somethingsomething about exploiting nature. Also there is a secret (Monsters highly developed hyperdimensional aliens or just the kids of SUPER-DUPER whales (which are just now coming back). Corporations corrupt - all a big plan of the gods etc..

But i like it. (Also Space-whales are cool)

Aye it is, but it's pronounced differently, Rua-ree would be closer to how it is pronounced, and also, it is a Gaelic name, Irish/Scottish so it would be correct to say that Rory is the Anglicised version of RuarĆ/Ruairidh.
