Oh screw you...if you really don't like his films, don't watch them. There's no need to dramatically "stop him".

I for one enjoy all of his films I've seen.

How exactly is someone supposed to know if they like something or not, if they haven't seen it?

The OP went to the movie to see if he would like it, having low expectations.. and didn't like it. Simple as that.
And there's nothing wrong with not liking a movie.

That doesn't mean that you can go around shouting "STOP HIM NOW". He's not a fucking murderer.

Damn, I really want to see a dark adaptation to the wizard of oz.
Oh wait I could just go to the theatre and see Wicked.
IN 3D

Edit: I FUCKING LOVED ALICE IN WONDERLAND. And I saw it in 3D.
My first ever date, I went and saw Big Fish.
I think people just have a hard time identifying films they know they won't like with filmmakers who occaisonally make films they do like.
I love most of these dark visions of escapism (my recent films list includes Avatar - escaping your body to go into another world, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus - a film all about imaginary worlds, Where the wild things are - a little boys fantasy of escape, and alice in wonderland.

You can complain all you like, but have you heard the insane figures that film has made? I think the only thing we can expect is more of the same.

I've said it a lot... Tim Burton is teh suks. He's had a few ok movies, but his movies have stunk across the board. I'm not saying he needs to be completely stopped, but maybe just knocked back to direct to disc movies instead of these large blockbuster movies. Then his fans stay happy and people who don't care for him never have to hear about him in the news again until he dies.

Madness! Don't you realise that we are all forced to sit through every film/book/game we dislike? We have no choice whatsoever in what we spend our money to experience in our free time, we must stop those who make these things as we are powerless to avoid them otherwise!

Not to mention this was in the OP:

I dislike 50 Cent, I disliked his music when it was first released and I dislike it now. If I went out and bought his newest album and hated it, whose fault is that? Mine or his?

I was curious about the film as I really like the story of Alice in Wonderland and I wanted to see what the hype was about. I said I had low expectations I didn't say I went with my decision already made. I actually enjoyed some of the earlier Tim Burton films, I just haven't for quite some time.
Ah, but if 50 Cent came along and covered one of your favourite songs or bands would you be pleased?

No, it's not the College Humor one. It's something different.

Do people agree or am I missing something?

I don't mind Tim Burton, but I find him very overrated. I enjoyed Nightmare before christmas, Sleepy hollow and Batman, but I am quite sick of him using Jonny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter (you must admit he does use them too a hell of a lot) there are other actors out there you know.

Thought the script for Alice was really weak. Nice visuals and design but agreed his films have become so much style over substance. Big Fish was the last one I really loved.

Sweeney Todd
Corpse Bride
Nightmare Before Christmas
Big Fish
Sleepy Hollow

For these I forgive Tim Burton's God awful remix of Alice in Wonderland. He's made a lot of good movies, he just floundered with Alice is all, happens to the best of us. The only "dark" version of Alice I wanna see is the one by Marylin Manson.

I agree that he shouldn't do a remake of Wizard of Oz (nor should anyone else), but he isn't a bad director. He just needs to realize that though they may make his films more popular, having the movie be a emo-tween wankfest is not a good idea.

His remakes are awful. I love some his older movies though, Nightmare Before Christmas and Edward Scissor Hands especially. I'm not sure if that's to do with the movie per say or just the style though.

Tim Burton is a genius, but only when working on his own ideas. When he tries to adapt the ideas of others, it just doesn't work. It would be like Einstein trying his hand at surgery. Einstein was an unquestioned genius of the highest order, but he wasn't a damn surgeon.

Total agreement.

Sleepy Hollow was Burton's last good picture and Lord knows why he's started sucking so much afterwards. I think we all know who he's going to cast in The Wizard of Oz; Depp as the Scarecrow and Bonham Carter as the Wicked Witch.

I'm calling it right now.

Alice in Wonderland was awesome.
For once, there was a GIRL who had to go through the whole "The young boy grows up to slay the dragon" as it is in every other fantasy movie and it's dog <.<
Here is a small list of fiction with a female protagonist (off the top of my head):
-Alice in Wonderland
-The Inkspell series
-Buffy the Vampire Slayer
-Battle Star Galactica(Starbuck? Yes? No? Input?)
-Metroid Series

And besides, it's not that people dislike Alice in Wonderland, it's that people dislike that Tim Burton took a classic and butchered it. I'm sure nobody here has a problem with the original Alice in Wonderland
Never seen the Inkspell Series.
Buffy is meh.
Battlestar Galactica? All I saw in that series were robots and a bunch of men and like.. 2 girls?
Metroid yes, but is it a movie?

So overall, you counted up like 3 shows and one game.

This movie was a huge improvement in so many ways over the original movie that I have more or less traumatic memories of.
In all honest, anyone who actually complains about this movie deserves to be thrown into the lake of fire and acid UNLESS they come up with examples as to why he butchered it. VALID ONES.
BSG had a lot of important female characters. Infact, pretty much ever female character moved the plot an amazing amount, possibly more then the men. And Inkspell was a book series. But I digress.

I didn't liek the movie because I found pretty much all the characters (accept Alice and the Cat) very annoying, and overal it was a story that didn't quite need a dark and gritty remake.

You know what? I don't give a shit. Remakes seem to be the norm these days, Tim Burton isn't the only one. So while you're on this mission to stop him, please stop everyone else whose even had the thought of remaking films. I've seen a lot of good films ruined but I don't think Alice is one of them.
