Have you ever had to get rid of something that was dear to you? If so, then what?

Also, try to not include The Companion Cube in your answer, because I'm pretty sure thats happened to everyone here

I once had to sell back a wonderful French cello that was made in 1865.... It was so old and not-so-well cared-for that it wasn't worth keeping from an economical standpoint

It had such a lovely and sweet sound, though.......*sigh*

When i was a toddler i had all these PS1 games. I loved them dearly, and what does a toddler do when he loves something dearly? He puts them all in a packet of sweeties and dangles them inbetween two floorboards of his living room.
Yeah...WHY?!

I think I might cry. Kidding, I never cry. NEVER.
A charity came to town once. They were accepting video games to send to U.S. soldiers hospitalized in Switzerland or something. I knew it was the right thing to do, so I gave up my PS1 and most of its games. I wish I'd kept it, though. It'll probably be worth something in the future.

A SNES.
My idiot brother bought it, then sold it for half the price he bought it for, *sigh* and of course that was before I knew how many great games it had, so I didn't complain.
Yes it's not exactly irriplaceable but I have no money. x_x

Why would you cry from replacing it with a ps3?

Stupid English class.
You were there, too? Hmmm, that explains everything, including the total solar eclipse on the first day......

When I was 4, we flew to America to visit my Grandparents. I took with me my favourite toy- a little wild west revolver (I wanted to be a cowboy back then.) Of course, security removed the CLEARLY A FREAKING TOY gun from our suitcase and binned it in front of us, with nary an apology.
I cried. A lot.
Goddammit, that was my favourite toy.

I made this massive charcoal/ink artwork, I spent so many hours doing it, it took me months to finish it. After it got marked I had no space for it at home and there was no room at the school so I had to throw it away. It was pretty much the best thing I had ever made up until that point too. I had to get my teacher to get rid of it because I couldn't do it.

That is terrible, if that happened to me I'd probably sit in a corner and eat nothing but icecream for a week feeling sorry for myself. ergh it was probably such a good cello, old is good for cellos. I don't even own my own cello yet, I am still renting. I hope you have a good cello to replace that one.

Well, that was a major loss... 2 cellos later, I've found one that's actually a baby cello (made last summer), but has a strangely fantastic sound that will only get better. I'm actually in the process of talking to the owner of the shop that I sold the French cello back to- he hasn't found anyone that wants it yet (and it's been 4 years since I returned it to him), since it's in such bad shape, and I'm hopeful I can get it back for a lower price.

I hope you can keep your next great bit of art!

I intentionally broke my Amiga 500 to make my parents 'upgrade' me to a SNES. Mainly for Zelda.

Now I'm older, wiser, and without even a way to emulate the A500 :-(
