I wake up every week-day at 4:35 A.M. I get dressed, brush my teeth, shower, eat some breakfast, browse on the web and watch T.V. until about 5:45ish and then walk to Church for an hour of Early-Morning Seminary. From there I get a ride to school from a friend (with a very awsome 4.6 liter V8 2010 Ford Mustang I might add) and he typically will blast some Rap or R&B or Dubstep, none of these of which I listen too normally (60's Rock n' Roll and Classic Metal for me) and today, he played a Dubstep song that horrified and shocked me to the core.

A song called Hero from an artist that I can't remember (who could anyway with these rediculous names for these "artists") and it was a dubstep rendition of the Hero Of Time... you know... the one theme from Legend of Zelda that you think of EVERY TIME you think of Legend of Zelda.

As soon as the main "chorus" (if you could call it that) started, I recognized it immediately and promptly shouted, as the abominable screech of what sounded like an epileptic transformer tried to convince itself as a piece of music from one of the greatest gaming tracks off all time invaded my ears. "Oh wow! Do you know what this is?" Everyone in the car of course, responded with a quiet no. "This is the Zelda theme! Who would do this?" One of my most nostalgiac and happy memories of my childhood seemed like it was being tortured.

They responded with "I don't know, sounds cool to me."
I replied with a disappointed tone "Really?"

Look, I may be overreacting a bit, I can respect the opinion of one liking this... wub wub... (though it confuses and enrages) and I understand that people do need a way to make a living but this??

*sigh* Anyway, what, Escapists, have you seen that has gone from being something you have loved, to being abused and ripped-off of in this modern generation?

Thankfully I can't think of much. I think transformers films are the only thinks I can think of right now. I'm not even old enough to see the cartoons when they were first on tv but I remember watching and loving them on tape and then michelle bay happened. A lot of people say this but I cant really think of anything else.

I can't not comment on this though. I only got up that early to get a train at 6:30 to scotland and I was asleep for half the journey. I can't imagine doing that on a regular basis. You sir, have my respect and admeration.

I just thought of another one. This is kind of dumb but when I was a kid I watched the first generation of pokemon and the last game I played was pokemon blue. So when I saw the current generation stuff I freaked out

Frankly no because simply up it is the asshat in the car that is the moron and he did not ruin anything he is just inept, the artist likely know exactly what it is and loves it. I must say if you do feel that this crushes you your memory then NEVER GO NEAR THAT CAR AGAIN... FUCKING EVER.

Why? Simple this is common in Dubstep and why not, they are 8-64 bit songs made electronically they are perfectly suited for these artist, also classic rock is another one of their favorite thin to incorporate what with "I can not play the guitar" and all. Anyway I suppose i could fin example of these and post links if you want me to or if you do not i will keep you from such examples.

I know that feeling, bro.

The original Dragonborn is a near-flawless piece of music, from beginning to end. The other clip is a grotesque mockery of that music. Dragonborn moves me to tears. The other clip moves my bowels. Dragonborn has soul and verve. The other clip has a legendarily creepy leering skid mark of a guy that I would not trust around children.
And yet, somehow, for some reason far beyond my comprehension, people absolutely worship this crap.

But Dragonborn is recent. I can't even imagine how I would feel if I heard what you have. My nostalgia would likely curdle into a big, knotted lump of bitterness that I'll cut out 30 years later as a tumor.

The constant raping of the resident evil franchise with the films. Then again, the franchise seems to be raping itself as well. Sad face :(

another thread about hating dubstep? Do people honestly have that big of a problem with it?

Originally this is the song I thought you were talking about:

Just because you aren't interested in the music/artists doesn't mean the genre itself is bad. Just a different style than what you're used to (I sure hope you aren't one of those people who still thinks 'music' needs to involve physical instruments)

Plus the difference between a good dubstep artist and a bad one is painfully obvious, if you're just looking around youtube there is a good chance that the person who uploaded a lot of these 'remixes' did them themselves.

I believe you overreacted. I wouldn't call most things "being abused and ripped-off".

For example, I was listening to some Angerfist at a friend of mine and this one

blew my mind when I heard it

I found it absolutely awesome.

I like it most of the time when things I've liked are used as basis of new works.

However...

Rule 34. That has done things to works I've liked, or maybe not even liked. Still *shrugs*.

A song that is origionally awesome should not be remixed or remade, but that dose not mean they can not be. Of course results will always be mixed and I have liked remixes of already good songs myself, for example...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gyCFuP3rM2w

To be honest I am also sure that Skyrim's theme is already a remix of Morrowind's theme.

Anyways, I can not say anything that will convert people and that is the last thing I want. Everyone is free to chose what they like and do not like. Me personally, I will listen to anything except pop, rap, and whatever the hell that corprate copy and paste "music" crap between 2000 and now is.

Also, anyone want to have something like a 2012 Woodstock or whatever, whenever to just hang around in the wide open country side with your friends and listen to the classic stuff. I mean no way in hell I expect anyone, even myself to see all those bands we know and love to show up and play. It's not like we can exactly dish out that kind of dough and I was about to suggest getting some young rockstars to show up just now as I was writing this, but I can not say for sure that would turn out well unless we had a couple who were really talented and be able to come at least close to the legends.

Hell, now that I think about it we could just set up a jumbo screen and play classic rock music videos just like when MTV was good.

Well I know what I would vote for...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sRYNYb30nxU

(Warning: Mute the annoying ads, they will ruin it, at least for a moment, then your mind will be blown.)

Alright, one last thing I want to say is when I listen to music I get a literal high off it, I am sure you all get that feeling to, it swells up inside of you like a breath of fresh air and then your in nirvana. Also I do not belive in that peer presure or generational nonsense, I was born in 1994, pretty much a kid of the new freaking millenia and based on my opinion of music before that should say something.

(Damn, why was I not born in 1974 instead.)

That is horrifying. Worse is, this wub wub stuff is popular. Really popular. That means that the clubs and bars I previously found bad are now becoming unbearable.

Basically, if you like good music, socialising is becoming harder.

So I checked out some zelda-step remixes and I have to say they're pretty freaking sweet, shame on your friends for not recognizing the original song though.

Right on, to be clear though I am loving my life right now. It's like some kind of adventure going back into the past and discovoring all sorts of treasures of old, quite a hobby of mine.

About ten years ago there was a popularish song that sampled the horn intro to Lucretia Macevil by Blood Sweat and Tears. That fucking song drove me to distraction because after the sample it went off in a complete different direction. No end of frustration, for a BS&T fan. I just thank goodness they didn't sample the awesome trumpet solo.

As far as music nowadays, yes, but I don't hate everything thats modern, we got that Avengers movie coming up and I just picked up the latest Silent Hill which has a good story but issues with the combat.
