So in order to fill my life with something other than Mass Effect threads, I figured I'd talk about something other than Mass Effect. Wait, now I'm talking about So I decided to make a thread for no particular reason. The intent here is for people to share some of the music they love, while maybe finding new music they might enjoy.

So here's how I'd like it to work out. Post a link to a song. Maybe your favorite band, or one you just kind of like, but think doesn't get enough love. Just post one(well you could post more, but then it wouldn't really be your "song of the day"). After that, listen to a song someone else posted and comment. Preferably one you aren't already familiar with, but I understand that some people are better versed on the music out there than others, so any participation is welcome.

I'm starting this up with a song called "Travel" by The Gathering. They've been around since the early 90s and are still one of my favorite female fronted bands. This album, How to Measure a Planet? is one of their more relaxed efforts, but still remains a great in my book. And so:

Aside from the stupid intro (it is a stupid intro) its an otherwise a decent song, don't think i would ever listen to it again, but thats more due to my preference for faster paced music.

kudos on the good thread idea. My addition to the thread is this fantastic relaxing song from last year (who knew red bull now makes music :S )

<youtube=vOlGGGnXQl0>

watch the video if you can because its well filmed.
While it is a cool video, the music is just too slow for me. It's not bad, but I prefer more upbeat music.

This is a song I can't get enough of. Mostly because it belongs to a genre called "Moombathon" which is very new, so there aren't many songs like this, and most of those which exist are crap, but also because it's just so good. I love how intense it gets at 1:10. This is probably why I like Dubstep aswell. I just adore intense music like this. Though I've never been much of a heavy/death metal fan (Though Power Metal is teh bombzorz)

Found this today, absolutely love it. Although unfortunately it's related to Mass Effect as someone used it for some keygen software or something, according to the description.

This is a friend's band (they've always been a little weird). But they've made quite a bloody good video for it so I thought I'd share it with you fine folk... Also it's a full 1080p vid, so watch it full screen and loud if you can...

Sounds like post-rock doom metal

we already knew the escapist has a lot of people who only read the title.
My bad, I mis-read the OP. I listened but forgot to leave a comment.

On the People ARE amazing vid:

Not my cup of tea musically but the video was interesting. I thought they could have sync'd the video with the music better. The song stutters a lot and the video uses a similar effect during the slow-mo parts. Seems a shame not to capitalise on that effect.

Eeeehh... Not my cup of tea. The vocals make the singer sound like he's really tired or something, and... I dunno', I'm just not feeling it.

Absolutely love this song.

It's a nice song. Good vibe. As a bassist I can say I loved the bassline but didn't care much for the tone. It seemed to pop out of place in the song too much and became too obvious as a recording.

The vid I posted isn't representative of my favourite kind of music so i'll post another, might be a little more up your street... If you like your ambient lounge chill out

I dig it. This style of song is not usually my cup of tea, but I like the vocalist and the lyrics. Could do without the scat in the bridge, but I see why it's there.

For my song, I pick the Japandroids. They hit all the criteria for my ideal band- brash but good-natured, simple but resonant. They just released this song a few days ago, and I love it.

It was alright, not too bad but not too great either.

it was great till they started "singing" (i use that term loosely) id love an instrumental version because the instruments are spot on.

my addition number 2, im ashamed the thread creator hasn't cntributed more :( seemed like a cool idea.
Not really my thing. I find it hard to connect with electronic music, generally. I also generally prefer more downbeat stuff.

Let's see, song of the day, song of the day...

Steven Wilson is the frontman of the progressive rock group Porcupine Tree, one of my favourite bands. This is from his first solo album, Insurgentes. I recently got the version of this album with a 5.1 mix and it sounds amazing.

Nice, I've listened to some Sparklehorse before, but I don't think I'd heard this one yet.

I've been doing something similar to this on FB for a bit over a year now, the "friends" who haven't put me on ignore yet seem to like it.

Anyway here my pick for today, Enjoy :)
