Hip hop isn't something I often like but this does have quite an aggression to it which appeals to me.The Diabolical Biz said:Not my kinda thing but I gave it a listen and it was technically very impressive.
As for my contribution...
Well, I got a really nice pair of headphones for my birthday recently, and have as such been rediscovering my entire music collection in far superior quality. One song that has stuck out recently is this:
Beat is a work of art, and it has some pretty thought provoking lyrics.
Also I approve of the idea of feedback in this thread. Kudos.

I've been listening to this album on repeat recently (which is odd cos I've never been an R&B person before) and this is the highlight IMO. I adore that dark, hazey 2am house party vibe.
And the whole thing is free \o/

Generally don't listen to much indie rock, but this ain't bad. Guy's got a good voice without being either overly plaintive or overly husky, as most indie rock singers seem to be alternately, depending who you're talking about. Simple song, but clean and interesting.bahumat42 said:Anyway, this thread needs moar indie! Modern, but with a classic sound to it, behold the Courteeners!

This really isn't my thing, I admit to only have listened to about half of it, sorry.IamQ said:
More to my liking, but I prefer the pop music Genesis to the the progressive rock Genesis.Matthew94 said:
Sounds good, it's the kind of music I prefer to listen to in the background (that's not a dig) while I'm gaming/reading or working. Nice new find for me5-0 said:

This is pretty cool - "beats antique" indeed.unoleian said:
Loooove Beats Antique. They're what happens when bass music and live performance art collide.
Sounds good, by any chance do you like the Melvins?Raven said:This is a friend's band (they've always been a little weird). But they've made quite a bloody good video for it so I thought I'd share it with you fine folk... Also it's a full 1080p vid, so watch it full screen and loud if you can...
Sounds like post-rock doom metal
Gorramit. That got stuck in my head when the adverts for that George bush film were around. Good song, anyhow.BreakfastMan said:Serviceable little rock song.
Now, did someone say we need more classic rock in here? No? Well, I say we do!
I very rarely listen to hip-hop, and I have quite strict criteria for what I like. However, I have a soft spot for a bit of Mos Def. I also love the beat in this song, and the lyrics. The Diabolical Biz said:Not my kinda thing but I gave it a listen and it was technically very impressive.Artemis923 said:<youtube=2MucTX8i6z4>

Interesting. The singing in most of that makes me think in shades of, of all things, early Pink Floyd. Or something similar from that early prog era. Otherwise, I wouldn't really know what distinguishes this particular track from other metal tracks. But, I don't listen to much metal, admittedly. Last album I actually listened to was Dethklok II, so that gives a bit of a clue what my authority on metal is, but I could certainly get behind more tracks like this.5-0 said:Here's a new band from Sweden, as many good bands seem to be. They do very retro feeling metal, and have been doing quite well recently thanks to a seriously strong first album.

Can't say I do, I'm into more melodic and gentler things these days. Just thought I'd post these guys to get opinions from other parts of the world.zehydra said:Sounds good, by any chance do you like the Melvins?
Wow. That was very good. Definitely not what I usually listen to, but that was very nice and relaxing.Ickorus said:Raven said:This is a friend's band (they've always been a little weird). Not bad, does indeed have a bit of a post-rock vibe to it.
Not the sort of thing I'd listen to on a regular basis though, didn't really catch me. (I can see other people enjoying it a lot though.)
For me I'm gonna have to go for Mar, great band and extremely unknown; odd because it's the band that introduced me to post-rock and the song 'Icarus [http://www.myspace.com/silenticeland/music/songs/icarus-25912695]' was a major factor in me using this alias.
I'll post another song by them however since that one hasn't been uploaded to Youtube:
Huh, I'm normally of the "I hate metal! >:[" crowd but that was pretty cool, guess I shouldn't judge it all by the overly loud formulaic shouty stuff that seems to be so popular.ohnoitsabear said:Wow. That was very good. Definitely not what I usually listen to, but that was very nice and relaxing.
Anyway, for my song I was going to do a Machinae Supremacy song (because that band is awesome), but somebody beat me to it, so I guess I'll post Aquaria, an excellent and criminally unknown symphonic power metal band.
This album has been such a good part or my summer this year. In fact, I've been listening to a lot of summer/surf music lately.bahumat42 said:<youtubE=SDTZ7iX4vTQ>

And these guys get a lot of hate thrown at them for apparently 'ruining music forever' or something... Whatever, I still like 'em. Its just mindless fun to listen to.

Here's my song of the day, because I was learning the bassline to it this morning:<youtube=Lm38Ojh61lY>
EDIT:
Okay just realised its now past midnight so that would technically be yesterday's song.
So here's my actual song of the day:

Heh. Its called metal, my friend.CruisingForBiddies said:You utter philistine.
I know that what you have just done is technically not going against the rules of this topic so I will not pass judgement. I actually enjoyed the first song, which is strange because the closest thing I listen to Tool is Black Sabbath. In fact, that's the only band that I like that plays that style of music. Im sorry but the second one just sounds like noise to me, but then again, I have never really clicked with that kind of music.
I am chuffed that you liked that Howler song though, you made my morning.
I really enjoyed this song. Ya know sometimes I'll spend hours searching for some good ambient music and I'll never stumble upon something this pleasant.Raven said:The vid I posted isn't representative of my favourite kind of music so i'll post another, might be a little more up your street...
