L'Via L'Viaquez by the Mars Volta blows me away more than any other song (and I listen to a lot of stuff).

Birdland by Weather Report is also a nostalgic pic.

In the metal category, I have to pick Prequel to the Sequel by Between the Buried and Me.

Lastly, in the solo category, Flow My Tears (the Police Man Said) by Stu Hamm

There is also a 13 minute long version

Imogen Heap - Hide And Seek (2 AM)
Totally this one, for starters, then there's In Loving Memory by Alter Bridge, (brings a tear to my eye every time) Wonderful Life also by Alter Bridge, Beethoven's 9th Symphony, particularly when the Ode to Joy melody comes in. That's one of those things that you just let it wash over you.

Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture. Especially the recording conducted by Herbert von Karajan.

It embodys the triumph of a nation in the face of overwhelming aggressor.

Plus there aren't many pieces for a full orchestra, all churchbells of an entire city and an artillery regiment.
Karajan is an amazing conductor. Him and Bernstein are my favorites.

The Strokes - Under Cover of Darkness
Jasmine Ash - Lulls (Was in that weird Nessan Sentra commercial with the bubbles.)
Cage the Elephant - Ain't No Rest for the Wicked
DeVotchKa - How it Ends
Mad World - Gary Jules
U2 - I'll Go Crazy if I Don't Go Crazy Tonight
Sam Sparro - Black and Gold
The Beatles - Revolution
The Beatles - Come Together
Kashmir - Led Zeppelin
Not a big fan of rap, but Mickey Avalon - Stroke Me

More or less in that order. Under Cover of Darkness is an eargasim.

The entirety of Iamamiwhoami's works so far. They flow so well together, and the sound is unlike anything I've heard, really. She's definitely my favorite artist as of late. o, u-2, t, and ;john are my favorite tracks.
Here's a playlist of all her songs:
