Fascination Street by The Cure.

This is the 4 minute single version of the song. (The 7 minute original is much better.) but still pretty damn cool.

Also Guns of Brixton (the Clash) is pretty bass heavy.

"Airbag" by Radiohead is great. Modest Mouse has some good ones. "Higher Ground" , RHCP. The Who is always good.
I'll stop myself before I lose control.

You mean higher ground by Stevie Wonder don't you? He made the iconic slap bassline.

Damn, that's good!
I'm likin' the Stevie version.
But either one is good, I think.
Thanks.

Most punk/oi/skinhead bands use a lot of strong pronounced bass lines. Check out The Business, The Devotchkas, and GBH.

Here's some good ones:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IosNaL4SRTI (particularly beefy bass) - The Devotchkas - (Oi Toy)

Oh - and how could I forget the 4-Skins, the most important skinhead band of them all! If you've never heard them, give them a listen, here's some of their better tunes -

Quite a few RHCP songs have really good bass lines (Higher Ground is good and so is Dani California) Flea is amazing...

Also, my favorite bass line at the moment is Track 04 on Buckethead's album "In Search of The...:Volume 5 - A" No, the song has no official title, it's just Track 04.

Anestasia (pulling teeth) by Mettalica: it is a 4.5 minute bass solo! And awesome!
As much as I love Cliff I am over his solos.

Bass should sound like bass.. Not guitar.

hmmmm...Cradle of Filth has been known to have a pretty strong bass line. The Nymphetamine album was probably when it was a little more prominent. One song I noticed was "Swansong for ravens"

Detuned five strings help with that =P

The bass solo in "Her Ghost" is great!

anything by Primus basically.

that's what happens when your frontman is a bassist
I second this. Especially My Name is Mud and Shake Hands With Beef.
