Title is pretty self-explanatory. Do you guys have any songs, albums, or artists that fit that description?

Been recently playing this one over and over. It's too ballin'.

I'm really not heavily into rap or anything, but I've got a couple artists from the genre that I hugely enjoy. Such a soft spot for Killer Mike. What about you guys?

I'm not super into J-pop but anything by LiSA I can listen to on repeat for some reason. Even though she feels like the very epitome of cheesy OTT J-pop to me. Also Ambiguous by GARNiDEliA because it made Kill la Kill's second opening the best opening i've seen for ages. Maybe slightly overtaken this season by Grisaia's OP but that's just because it cheated and based the song on the VN's main menu music. It's a damn good adaptation so far, even if they skipped the Pitcher Payback scene T_T

I would post some songs but anime music uploads on Youtube are having one of those copyright takedown sprees recently so gotta wait for that shit to die down later.

Lately, I've been enjoying a lot of standard radio pop. Things like...

I have some songs out of my usual genres that I enjoy. Like...

My usual music is mostly metalcore or post-hardcore. For you non-genre knowing people, it's pretty much punk meets metal.

Well, I'm about as far from a pop fan as you can kind of get, but my mother listens to quite a lot on her CD player and there's this one song that pops up now and again that I kind of dig, mostly for its beat and slow, dark atmosphere (hey, it sounds dark-ish until you learn the lyrics, okay?)

After searching for the words spoken during the chorus, I have since learned it's by someone called Beyonce. This one video here has over a million views, so I'm guessing she's one of the more popular pop singers? Fuck I dunno, but I just like this song for some reason. I guess I kind of see it as a pop song with a heavy metal attitude - slow, methodical pace. A heavy beat with a somewhat dark vibe. Some unusual vocals (or at least, vocals I've not heard in any other pop song) that change between some kind of chanting and a pretty ominous sounding crawl in the chorus. Perhaps it could be called doom pop? Of course, it is pop, after all, so the lyrics are lame as hell, but I've always been someone who can overlook bad lyrics if the music and/or songwriting is good.

I dunno, I just dig it for some reason. As you can probably tell from my utterly abysmal attempts at explaining why I like it, I'm the most unknowledgeable guy on pop music, ever.

Anyways, here's the song.

Do not like Country but this one I heard recently and love it. Probably because of the classic rock feel of it.

Hmmmm... Anything by Maximum the Hormone, High and Mighty Color, Galneryus, and,to a certain extent, Dethklok just to name the more obvious in my music collection... Despite being pretty open to listening to anything at this point, Metal, in general, is still something I don't listen to that often... and, so far, those groups in particular have tickled my fancy to the point of buying, at least, one full album from them...

Other than that, in terms of specific songs in question, this was the only one I can think of, kinda:

Country, similar to Metal, is a genre I don't listen to that often... With that said, this is just one of the "Country" songs I just so happen to know is on my IPod PSP...

For me it would probably be this.

I'm not a fan of rap at all really, but I do enjoy this song and the way it's structured.

My second place would probably be pop music, but I like enough random songs/performers from that genre that I feel it wouldn't fit here. Most of the other musical styles like country and such I just don't like at all, and can't think of a singular song from them I enjoy.

Edit:

Actually I take that back, I'm not a fan of speed/heavy metal, but damn do I love this song.

I tend to find that comic music artists like Weird Al or Blood Hound Gang can get me into enjoying genres of music that I normally dislike. For instance, I tend not to like rap/hip-hop music, but I absolutely love songs like Amish Paradise and White and Nerdy.

The lyrics in this particular song are also incredibly clever, perhaps among the best I've ever heard.

Lose yourself by Eminem, holy shit that's a good song.

Young guns as a band are a break away from my normal, more electronic, music tastes (mmm synths) but in particular I was born, I have lived I will surely die and sons of apathy

Finally, wetsuit by the vaccines. It's indy pop, but good indy pop

Dan Bull's material in general, Dovahkiin and Civilization in particular. Not a fan of rap on the whole, but it can definitely be good - clever wordplay, generally interesting lyrics, etc.

In a similar vein, Stereo Hearts (Gym Class Heroes ft. Adam Levine), on both counts. Pop is all right, but it's not usually my thing, but both the pop and the rap parts work here. I'm a sucker for music that talks about music in its lyrics, and that theme is prevalent in this song. (And again, clever wordplay helps: "The last girl that played me left a couple cracks / I used to- used to- used to- / now I'm over that" is probably my favorite bit.)

And then the Rascal Flatts cover of Life is a Highway. It helps that it's country/rock rather than straight country, but it's still outside my normal musical comfort zone.

(Actually, going back to country, there's also Pentatonix's cover of Stuck Like Glue. Good a capella makes any genre work. Those harmonies.)

I'm hardly a huge country fan, but there's something that really works for me in this one.
