OK, I have never played a Sonic game, save about five minutes in multiplayer for the one all about Shadow being good or evil... I don't know, whatever. Anyway, I do know that the old games were awesome, but it seems like after the SEGA Dreamcast, Sonic started to lose heat. I think by now it can die peacefully, but they won't let that happen. In my opinion, if you don't have any fuel left, don't tend the fire. I say let Sonic die quietly leaving a fresh memory of awesome games rather than spoiling the franchise and letting the market drown the game itself. Unfortunately for Sonic fans, it seems like the recent games have been, excuse my language, pretty shitty. What do you think, Escapist?
Just give him perfect control and a fun envireoment with a plot that makes sense and you have something we all love.

I understand these ideas of reverting to old material, but how long will that save the series? Alright, maybe it would be stupid not to go to old stuff to keep it afloat, but when they run out of material for that, then it would be time to let it go down. Everything has to run its course. I just think Sonic's course was bound to be slow. I mean, really, how much material do you really have with a blue supersonic hedgehog? Not to bash the series, just saying how limited it gets when you need to expand beyond platformers.

It'll never happen because there is still money in the series and that makes it practically undead.
Yeah, I can understand that, but how long will the dwindling materials for Sonic be appealing to the market, and how long will there still be money in it? To me, Sonic just seems like it sort of ran out of good material after the platformers were replaced by other games. My question is should we let it go off with dignity, as I think a lot of people would rather see Sonic as having been good all around or should it go down pathetically, being remembered as good and then horrendous.
Well i think it will take a lot longer for the appeal to dwindle after all look at a lot of kids games, they are absolute rubbish but they still sell because parents or grandparents see it as a kids game and will therefore buy it. And yes, I would love to see it sent off with dignity but i think that day is long past.
