I bought my Ps3 specifically FOR the exclusives, but I can't speak for everyone.

I've bought alot of PS3 exclusives, mostly from developers who worked with Sony back in PS2 days like Sucker Punch and Insomniac. Whenever I brag about exclusives, it's the ones I've played ( which now that I think about it, that's alot of them).

*checks her game collection* more than half my games are PS3 exclusives thank you very much. Some of the games I won't touch and therefore don't own but personally I like my exclusives. I think that article is full of it as well because I know numerous PS3 gamers that own either a lot of exclusives like me or almost exclusively own just the exclusives and maybe 1 multi console game.

There is not a single above average exclusive for the PS3. Decent ones yes, but I don't see anything like Mass Effect 1, the Halo series, or Lost Odyssey which is exclusive to the PS3.

Ps3 has really great exclusives. I myself own the Uncharted games, the inFamous games, Killzone 2, God of War 3, and etc etc.

If you don't think any of those are "above average" then that's just your personal taste.

Everyone's a fanboy of something.

My PS3 collection is rather small, but most of them are PS3 exclusives. The ones that are multi-platform are generally pretty crap. Also, I really don't think that article is fair. You can't compare Brown Gunshooters in Space 19 to basically anything else. They weren't made to be good games, they were made to sell. They appeal to the lowest common denominator of the largest gaming demographic (18-25year old males). The other games appeal to more specific groups of people.

I keep going back to this, but its like comparing some high-class steakhouse burger to a Big-Mac. Is the steak-house burger superior in every possible way? Yes, but it doesn't have that same mass marketing appeal as the Big-Mac. So even if it is better burger that no where else has to sell, it wont compare.

I've bought a lot of PS3 exclusives over the years. In fact, the only ones mentioned in that article which I don't own are Infamous 2, Killzone 3 and Resistance 3. And the reason I didn't buy Infamous 2 was because the first one was pretty mediocre and nothing in the demo convinced me that had changed. Killzone 3 I simply haven't had the chance to get around to despite really liking Killzone 2. And I'll be damned if I'm going to touch Resistance 3 when the second game is hands down one of the worst games I've played this generation. If I happen to play someone elses copy and it turns out they didn't fuck this one up too then I'll change my mind.

And slightly off topic, but I found it odd that the person who wrote the article said Resistance 3 is under appreciated when it's been out for under a week.

As for the seemingly low sales of some exclusives, I doubt it's much different on any other platform. This guy just happened to pick PS3 exclusives to talk about.

The article is some delusional fanboy bullshit, comparing the sale of exclusives to CoD that is marketed up the wazoo and far beyond, guess what that shit outsold everything on all platforms.

Just because one of those is a platform you like doesn't make you special.

You can defend something without having to be a part of it you know. Now, the PS3 fanboys aren't the best example, but they can still rally to pointing out the strengths of some of their titles without having to actually like that genre. For instance, I can understand people pointing out how great Killzone may be. Visually it's very impressive. But I'm not much for console FPSs, so I wouldn't of bought it, and I can't be alone in that. Of course, I'm also not one of the people that will call the PS3 better than the alternatives. It has some things I like over the 360, and some I don't. Personally I'm more of a PC centered player, but that's almost entirely because it's where my friends are, and I'm a total sucker for user generated content; not because I view it as "PC IZ SOUPEROR" or some nonsense.

My PS3 game collection says otherwise. I don't know what the point of that article was, other than fan baiting, and I have a lot of exclusives and a few games that are multi platform. So nice try, thanks for playing.

It's okay Resistance, that article wasn't directed at you. You know I bought the system just for you, so don't cry. Come 'ere!

You know, I have a real life example of this. I have a friend who raves about how the PS3 has all the good exclusive games, but all she plays is Red Dead Redemption and Bioshock 2. I think she has one or two exclusives, but she barely plays them, though I don't know why she doesn't play Infamous and Uncharted as much.

I guess for comparison I own 7 360 exclusives, which is a sizable chunk of my collection of 30-ish games.

Well, I see the issue as being one where most of the PS-3 exclusives are derivitive crap that is playing in the same basic sandbox as the 360 titles. I'm not a shooter fan, and one shooter where you blow aliens away is much the same as another to me. Halo, Resistance, Gears Of War, etc.. no matter who has them I could care less.

I purchused the PS-3 in hopes of seeing a decent battery of RPGs and niche titles like we saw for the PS-2, but that never really happened. To be honest I'm in far of my original release PS-3 dying because I use it as a PS-2 (I traded in my PS-2) more than I use it for PS-3 games. When I talk about exclusive titles I mostly do so only to say that the PS-3 indeed has them (though this is meaningless to me as I own both major consoles and can get whatever I want).

The reason why I don't actually buy more PS-3 games is simply because there just aren't many PS-3 games that I actually want to play. Truthfully Sony does a better job of getting RPGs out for the PSP than they do for the PS-3.

I do buy exclusives, but only the ones that take my fancy. I wont just buy a PS3 exclusive "because I can", what would be the point if I dont like the game

I bought my PS3 for Folklore, Final Fantasy, Valkyria Chronicles, the eventual (and ever less likely not really promising) promise of Kingdom Hearts.

Out of my control that FF went multi and was less then astounding.
I'd say Folklore alone was reason enough for me to not get an xBox instead though.

Don't really care about infamous, tried the first, can't get over how much I dislike it to push on through it to try the second.

Resistance looked pretty decent but I don't shoot on consoles, only mouse and keyboard for me.
Killzone just looked like more shooting, would only touch it on PC.
Uncharted just came across as Prince of persia minus everything I liked about the game plus guns that I don't like, characters that I don't like, and on a controller.

The other reason is all of my friends have a PS3.

I'm a PC gamer though so the PS3 and xBox are purely exclusive boxes, I like the few on the PS3 more than the xBox because Mass Effect is a PC game and didn't count as an exclusive.

Killzone 3, inFamous 2, God of War III, Demon Souls, and Heavy Rain serve as good, relatively recent examples. Each of these are ?triple A? titles in the eyes of most professional critics, and each of them has been handily outsold by multi-platform titles often derided as stale and repetitive by the gaming public.
For the type of game Heavy Rain is, it sold extremely well and exceeded sales expectation.

And, if Sony's 1st party games weren't turning a profit, do you think they'd be making sequels to failed franchises?
