Managed to download the update in Scotland, but I'm still waiting for the actual service to work. Meh. My Portal 2 buddy is still out shopping somewhere anyway.
In the meantime... Continue replacing single-player save files on my new PS3. Assassin's Creed and ACII done, now to get Brotherhood finished. Then everything else, I guess.

EDIT; Nevermind, all clear in Scotland. Finally playing Portal 2 with my co-op buddy. It's all good.

Am I one of the only few who know WHY they removed the feature? Ask GeoHot and his "magnificent" hacking. He was using linux to bypass security on the PS3 and Sony feared something like this would happen so they removed it. Hind sight is a useful thing.

OT: Hard work is about to pay off gals and guys. Now we can all get back to our trophy addictions!
This is why it annoys me when people paint hackers as "good" and Sony as "bad", the whole thing started because Geohot got loud.

He's right, you know. You can't be 100% safe from hacking, ever ever. All those people mad at Sony and suing Sony are just encouraging the hackers to continue what they're doing: trying to make people hate Sony, and making a little money on the side. We should be spending this hate-energy on catching the bums, too lazy to get a real job so they go profit on identity theft and other completely wrong acts. Every good hacker in the world could easily land a job in computer security for a company, where they'd get paid 100k a year to do a LOT less work than hacking is. They choose to be dicks because they can make a little bit more money.

Frankly i consider the Playstation Plus is bullshit... so having to be rewarded by a copypasted method of the Xboxlive, and making it look like a "reward" pfff.

(and i'm no fanboy of either console (i only own a ps3)).

Is it just me or are there really some people in this thread who base the majority of their existence on the PSN? Some of the reactions to Sony being back online equal ending wars.
Oh, wait, does that mean I should NOT suddenly kiss a woman in the street in the middle of a tickertape parade while wearing a sailor suit? Should I take down my Mission Accomplished banner? Darn it, why does no one tell me these things?!

Dude, it's a forum full of gamers on a gaming-based website that features gaming industry news and gaming-centric comedy. Are you honestly shocked gamers are excited about having the ability to finally, y'know, game again? I say let folks celebrate. This whole experience has sucked on toast, and being able to start putting it behind us and having fun again means something. Sure, it's not going to end wars or feed the hungry, but hell, neither was their next deathmatch or getting to play the Honest Hearts DLC. So chillax and let thine fellow gamers enjoy the moment, before we all go back to being angry at each other over pet genres or console vs. PC malarky.

More so OT, I intend to celebrate in my usual unsocial way... by d/ling the new Fallout patch and then going to shoot some Legion in the face. When my friends get on later, mayhaps then I can celebrate the return of multiplayer properly.

They don't HAVE to give a free month of PS+ to you. They're also giving a couple free games from what I've been told so be grateful that they feel the need to give anything for free.

EDIT: Also, its not a "reward," it's compensation for PSN being down for nearly a month.

Still not up in UK.

Bit disappointed really. If it's working in the US why can't they flick the Europe switch?
What's the holdup?

probably the fact that North America all speak English, Europe on the other hand has dozens of different servers and regions so they would have to do 10 times as much work for the same payoff, it's not that they hate us, it's just we are diverse

Don't worry, i am grateful. but when you read they had the problem for much longer than a month and at the beginning they didn't remediate until it became a problem, what can you say about it?
