Well, I have mixed opinions of this whole thing. Right now I do tend to notice that they offered people free PSN+ time, BUT at the same time the stores are still down with no ETA. As the major advantage of being a plus member seems to be better deals on products and free downloads of certain things you can use until plus expires, it makes me wonder if Sony has learned anything from this. It seems to me that they are basically promising to recoup customers for their losses, BUT at the same time they are ensuring that nobody is going to be able to use the benefits of being recouped. The only people really getting anything are those who were using various online games... and even that is poorly implemented, as I am a lifetime Free Realms subscriber (it's an okay package of minigames) and while I might have received a couple of new items (hard to tell with cluttered inventory) I certainly didn't receive 20,000 coins... not that it would matter, I mean money falls out of the sky in this game pretty much. Certainly no annoucements about it in game that I have seen, so it definatly makes me wonder (PS3 version).
I could be wrong about this, but as far as I can tell the 43 days of plus time (or whatever it is) has started since the system went back up, but with no ETA on the store/downloads it seems unlikely that anyone is going to be getting any deals out of this. A "do nothing" promotion at it's finest, promise the suckers (err customers) something in repayment and then not deliver on it.
If I'm right, and the PSN+ time is burning as I type this, I am going to laugh soooo hard if we see another hacker attack in response. It would be ironic given that they got themselves into this mess by messing with their customers (ie, removing the "other OS" option that they sold to people as part of a product, and then screaming bloody murder when someone dared to take back what they paid for and show other people how to do it as well).
Time will tell, but it seems like Sony has definatly not learned anything so far. If I'm correct and they get bombed again coming out of this, I'm hardly going to be surprised.

Well right now the basic deal seems to be that Sony is trying to promise it's customers benefits for the time their network was down, while at the same time doing everything it can to ensure it either doesn't have to deliver on that, or will deliver as little as possible.
As I mentioned above, it hasn't gone unnoticed that apparently the free "plus time" has started since the network is back up, but the store is not up. Thus you can't download and enjoy any of those "Free games" (which remain free as long as your a member), or enjoy the lower "member" prices on a lot of the content.
I think right now the promise for was 43 days worth of plus time or something like that, so if they do "phased restoration" and ensure the store isn't up until after 43 days have gone by, they can claim they gave us all free plus memberships but not deliver on anything.

THinking back on it, It hink I wrote about how mathematics has influenced the english language and how wihtout math, we wouldnt have the capabilities to speak, though i mostly BS-ed my way through and my only real argument was that wihtout the word Zetta (or the number), we wouldnt have the phrase "You're so Zetta SLOW!"

Those rewarda are great and all, but what about us 360 users? Surely we should get something from Microsoft, I mean, we've had to deal with a large influx of players coming over after selling their systems, and a lot of whining on blogs and forums from people who couldn't play online. I doubt Microsoft wants to be left in the dust while a competitor gives away free games.
