Relationships are essentially very shallow painful things, don't feel bad. They are only really a kind of long term pension plan anyway.

OT: My last break-up went pretty badly I must say. It was online since she lived in a city quite a while away, and travelling there to tell her you're breaking up with her is admittedly pretty poor form.

My pet hatred with that situation is when they suggest an open-relationship, or going on a break. False hope to sensitive people you're going to drop isn't doing THEM any favours. It's like taking off a plaster, best to just rip it off and deal with the fallout straight away.

Out of all of the responses I agree with this one the most. If it is over its over, and just tell them strait out. Not going to do either person any good going on a "break". If your having that many issues that you need a break it wasn't meant to be.
