The new maps look cool. Though everyone will be playing engineer this following week...
Which is exactly why I won't be playing it for a while. I still have nightmares of the Heavy update... that day, the servers were so busy I couldn't even open the game... when I did get in, there were entire teams made up entirely of Heavies... the sight of watching five of them running in a row down a ramp towards the cart in a payload map... it was too much for me.

Pretty good overall. I'm liking the unlocks, and Hightower has become a new personal favorite map of mine. The other maps I could care less for though. Plus, playing as spy in a server of about 10 engies is fun fun fun.

Loving it so far, being an engineer is still hard as hell, though.
Gonna be even more hard once people stop farming items off the class...

Don't misunderstand me. Sure stuff pretty well always needs tweaking but I actually really like the gunslinger. I thought the sentry was awful at first too but I figured it out eventually. You just have to use it a little differently. That said, I wouldn't complain if it got a little buff.
Of course you have to use it differently to regular sentries.

It was built for the battle engie, and it would be perfect(ish) had they not introduced moveable buildings at the same time.
You can do everything (except +25hp) the gunslinger does but with twice the firepower and more building health with 30 more metal and about 6 more seconds.

Also you get the option to upgrade if you don't use the GS, at the moment, it seriously isn't worth the trade.
To each their own, I'm afraid. The deploy speed makes it worth while.

It is if you play completely differently.
Use the mini-sentry to rack up revenge kills. I had 17 last night at one point. I was death incarnate.

With a regular sentry you want it to survive. A mini-sentry is expendable and only really useful for softening players up a bit or taking people by surprise.
I just explained how you can do that with a level 1 sentry just as well if not better.

As I said, it would be perfect for that had they not brought in moving stuff freely anyway.

I think most players have no idea how to use the Mini-Sentry, but I think it needs a bit of a buff. If you could have two mini-sentries out at once it would be better.

I am glad the engi got a new shotgun and the Wrangler is pretty cool. But honestly being able to move buildings is the best.

Also it has turned TF2 into Spies Vs. Engineers 2010

Even if you build the level one before hand, it still takes longer to deploy than a freshly dropped mini.
The few seconds this takes is well worth the trade for more damage and building health.
I wouldn't complain about it being buffed, however. Since most people seem to be sticking to their Wrangler sniping.
It needs it, you can just ignore mini sentries and get away fine.

I ran up to one as a scout whilst getting hit by it and just shot it down, they're pointless.

I'm loving this update.

Not because I play engi at all, but because Soldiering and Snipering have never been so much fun. The massive amount of engineers on the servers at the moment are prime targets.

I've been getting crazy scores, if you play as a soldier with the direct hit mini sentries are basically a free point. They wont kill you, and they go down so fucking easy. As far as sniping goes, engis building and repairing have always been fun to shoot, but never have there been so many :D

I dare say spies and demomen are enjoying this update too :D

I do find all the engineers really annoying, but on another point:

People shouldn't get annoyed at valve for providing loads of content for free, (hats, class updates, maps)that's great customer service and shows they are dedicated to the fanbase.

Compare this to, for example, Modern Warfare 2 map packs, where players are expected to shell out around £15 for 3 maps and nothing more, no new weapons, no skins/character models, etc.

People complain that valve are bastards and ruining the game but what other company gives you this much for free?
Just because it's free though, doesn't mean people are going to like it.

I play the 360 version, and the pc version looks so alien now. They've certainly changed a lot. And not all of the community are going to welcome the changes just because they're free.

So now I've been playing post-update for a few days, and I think that once the Engineer frenzy has settled and people are playing as all the classes, the new weapons will work in normal matches.

But Engis using the Wrangler are simply headshot generators.

The Gunslinger/mini-sentry is going to be a favorite of Ninjaneers everywhere, but at the moment the Wrangler seems a bit overpowered.

Also, I'm glad they added the ability to move buildings, because the most annoying part of playing Engineer is having to tear down your entire base and rebuild it from scratch whenever the tide of battle shifts.

But anyway, Atari 2600 controllers... yes, Yes, YES!!!

EDIT: Just saying, the Dr. Strangelove-esque war room in Coldfront is pure win. Why didn't we have this earlier?

The update has ruined spy for me... They spy check everyone with their goddamned remote And there is SO MANY you cant sap a building without 4 engies spychecking everyone.
