Australians can't play Jak II?
That might not be a bad thing, 2 is probably one of the best games ever made, but this way they will never know how disappointing 3 was.
What? Jak 3 might not have been as good as 2, but it is still a fantastic game.
To short and had a bad ending, but that's all I can really complain about, the rest of the game was awesome.
I thought the ending was hilarious. The final boss fight was underwhelming, I wanted to take on all the dark maker battle walkers in a huge battle in the wasteland. But the reveal of the Precursors was one of the funniest things I have seen in a game.

I agree it could have been longer though.

Never heard of this game before this thread either but I have to admit, having read a little, and watched a few videos of it...

I think I need to play this.

Most I heard about this game was watching several Let's Plays of it, and I saw a friend playing it as well, and decided that it looked like an absolutely awful piece of shit. Still waiting for Spoony to finish it, but I think my mind is made up.

Man, I thought you were going to say that they couldn't play Portal in Australia, or Saints Row II, or y'know, something actually good.
I'll say it again:
Bad graphics = bad game?

Oh no! I guess I'll have to kill myself. Not like I actually care about that game or anything, and most people I know don't (in fact everyone I know doesn't). But, we'll mass suicide on principle.

Do you think we should organise a smuggling operation to bring good and unsensored versions of games to Australia?
It's called Ebay.

Seriously, just get PS3 games from anywhere in the world or 360 games from a buyer in the UK.

Problem solved for every banned game.
But thats nowhere near as fun!

I didn't say that. Saying something looks like an awful pile of shit doesn't mean i thought the grahpics were bad. It means:

I thought the story was nonsensical
The voice acting was so awful I wished someone would change the translation to Japanese because at least the Japanese VAs might put some enthusiasm in
I thought the gameplay looked boring
I thought the settings were linear, overly gloomy and generally either too confused or too bland and simple
I thought the extra shit they threw in, like the suit changing bollocks, felt almost like they were trying to slip Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy) by without anyone noticing
I thought the ending was so predictable I actually managed to guess it before the end of the opening cutscene
I thought the characters were unlikable
I thought the attempts at 'horror' were so laughably unscary as to render the game a farce rather than a genuine experience
And yeah, I thought the graphics were only worthy of a PS2, but that doesn't really bother me. I'd play Silent Hill 2 again rather than this, I'd play Final Fantasy VII again over this.

Hell, I think I'd even play Pokemon Blue again rather than this.

I thought this game was bad in almost every way it is possible for a game to be bad, and I resent being told my own opinion. I think bad graphics have almost nothing to do with the overall quality of a game, but in the case of this particular one?

You can't even defend it by saying it looks nice.

I would like someone to elaborate in great detail why exactly this game is great. It just looks and sounds horribly cheesy. What does the gameplay entail exactly?

Listen, I haven't played it so I'm hardly the person to tell you this, but after reading this review and thumbing through the comments on it I think I get it. A single comment put it best.

"This is basically the Troll 2 of videogames."

Sold. Fucking sold.

.... Sorry? It's just that when you said it looks bad I thought you meant it..... Looks bad graphically. Just hold on a sec, I got to save this in my text editor so every time you say "something looks bad" you mean this. Like whenever I say hello what I mean
"Nucleosynthesis is the process of creating new atomic nuclei from pre-existing nucleons (protons and neutrons). It is thought that the primordial nucleons themselves were formed from the quark-gluon plasma from the Big Bang as it cooled below two trillion degrees. A few minutes afterward, starting with only protons and neutrons, nuclei up to lithium and beryllium (both with mass number 7) were formed, but only in relatively small amounts. Then the fusion process essentially shut down due to drops in temperature and density as the universe continued to expand. This first process of primordial nucleosynthesis may also be called nucleogenesis." ;)

Explain how this can be referred to as "the greatest game ever"?!
Yes please do, 'cause that's a rather bold claim and I'd like to see some evidence to back that up.

Incidentally, I thought Australia was getting an R18+ rating. Whatever happened to that?

Here is a review: http://www.destructoid.com/review-deadly-premonition-165168.phtml

Not sure if I could do the game justice the same way Jim does it.

Every cutscene I've seen from that game, including that one, is so deeply entrenched in the uncanny valley I could never take it seriously. I know it's going for a comedy-horror-thriller kind of vibe, but I don't know if the humour is anywhere near subtle enough, let alone actually funny.

But I'm not Australian, and my opinion of it based on a couple of cutscenes is less than legitimate.
