Most I heard about this game was watching several Let's Plays of it, and I saw a friend playing it as well, and decided that it looked like an absolutely awful piece of shit. Still waiting for Spoony to finish it, but I think my mind is made up.

Man, I thought you were going to say that they couldn't play Portal in Australia, or Saints Row II, or y'know, something actually good.
I'll say it again:
Bad graphics = bad game?
I didn't say that. Saying something looks like an awful pile of shit doesn't mean i thought the grahpics were bad. It means:

I thought the story was nonsensical
The voice acting was so awful I wished someone would change the translation to Japanese because at least the Japanese VAs might put some enthusiasm in
I thought the gameplay looked boring
I thought the settings were linear, overly gloomy and generally either too confused or too bland and simple
I thought the extra shit they threw in, like the suit changing bollocks, felt almost like they were trying to slip Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy) by without anyone noticing
I thought the ending was so predictable I actually managed to guess it before the end of the opening cutscene
I thought the characters were unlikable
I thought the attempts at 'horror' were so laughably unscary as to render the game a farce rather than a genuine experience
And yeah, I thought the graphics were only worthy of a PS2, but that doesn't really bother me. I'd play Silent Hill 2 again rather than this, I'd play Final Fantasy VII again over this.

Hell, I think I'd even play Pokemon Blue again rather than this.

I thought this game was bad in almost every way it is possible for a game to be bad, and I resent being told my own opinion. I think bad graphics have almost nothing to do with the overall quality of a game, but in the case of this particular one?

You can't even defend it by saying it looks nice.
.... Sorry? It's just that when you said it looks bad I thought you meant it..... Looks bad graphically. Just hold on a sec, I got to save this in my text editor so every time you say "something looks bad" you mean this. Like whenever I say hello what I mean
"Nucleosynthesis is the process of creating new atomic nuclei from pre-existing nucleons (protons and neutrons). It is thought that the primordial nucleons themselves were formed from the quark-gluon plasma from the Big Bang as it cooled below two trillion degrees. A few minutes afterward, starting with only protons and neutrons, nuclei up to lithium and beryllium (both with mass number 7) were formed, but only in relatively small amounts. Then the fusion process essentially shut down due to drops in temperature and density as the universe continued to expand. This first process of primordial nucleosynthesis may also be called nucleogenesis." ;)
That's cute, let me just read my own post for you since you may well have neglected to yourself.

1. I acknowledged that I had not played the game myself, thus all my experiences came from watching other people play it through Let's Plays and one friend who I saw in person play it.

2. Not having direct experience I could not with accurate grammar claim that the game had played badly, since I had not played it.

3. When you watch something, you are looking at it, taking in all the details of it via sight only, thus your entire experience must have been visual and/or audial.

Conclusion: I had not played it, only looked at it, and decided from the looking that it looked bad, and thus I would not play it myself.

Hey look, looks like looking was the entirely correct usage in this context. Look what I did there.

Oh we've got both games and all subsequent DLC's, as well as a good local community of folk who play it. Only difference is number 2 had the dismemberment taken out, corpses dissapeared and no blood clouding your vision...meh.

I didn't mean to get the word look wrong. I just had a general idea of what it meant I guess, but you don't have to be a jerk about it.

It is annoying that we Australians still have to put up with this bullshit no 18+ games law, but I gotta say this Deadly Premonitions game doesn't sound that awesome, reviews have only been ok, like around 6/10 generally

Generally when you say something "looks" bad you're not talking about the visuals, it's more of a general statement and is faster and easier than saying "that game looks [list of things you think look bad .... oops I did it just there ).

"Hey that looks like a pretty cool game!" - probably not refering to the visuals.

It's nice to know that some things in life will never change. Namely that America will continue to use my country as a cultural rubbish tip and only give us the games and movies when they are well and truly done with them.
And of course I can't really say I'm surprised that suddenly Deadly Premonition is being unreleased in my country because, again, we have a crappy government with strict rules and sometimes developers are just plain too lazy to even bother putting the effort into trying to get it released over here.
I mean hell, this isn't just for games either. Only the day before yesterday the movie Splice finally arrived in Australian cinemas... but it was only screening in small theaters a long way from the city. So I had to work and go see something that arrived two months later than the Americans and had to go to twice the effort to do so.
But clearly, I should have been grateful I even got it at all.

Still, I can't say with a straight face that I was going crazy for Deadly Premonition. My attention is set for Halo: Reach, Dead Space 2 and Fallout: New Vegas. That said, I am still very, very angry about this.

But at least I am getting respect and sympathy from the privileged, wealthy American consumers and I sincerely hope that they realize just how good they have it. It is not easy being a geek in Australia.

Seeing as how I'd never even heard of this game before, I can pretty safely assume that for me it wouldn't have been the best game ever. But who am I to judge without knowing anything about it?
*watches youtube clip*

WTF? Seriously, give me back the 3 minutes of my life I just wasted watching that incredibly shitty cut scene. Based off that sandwich scene alone I am actually happy that this heap of shit isn't being released over here. You lot can keep it in your own countries without ruining Australia with this heap of crap excuse for a game.

Incidentally, I thought Australia was getting an R18+ rating. Whatever happened to that?
Well, to get that, we have to wait for the next conference of state and federal attorneys general... which has been pushed back to november because of the federal election in a week or so's time.

Plus certain cocks want 'broader community input' on the issue, meaning their initial public consultation didn't give the results that some of them were hoping for and want to dig up a more 'think of the children!' types before the issue gets settled.
