This is kinda the issue I have with competitive online multiplayer. A winning strategy is a winning strategy. If you're playing to win, you use what works. Bitching about a particular strategy being "cheap" is just another way of saying you don't like how the game is balanced, but you continue to play it anyway.

But playing just to win is rarely fun (at least for me), so I only play multiplayer games with people I know. Usually in the same room as me.

Yeeeeeeeaaah, if you're losing to it, you're doing something wrong in most games. In fighting games you generally get tools to get around mindless fireball play(unless you're playing a shitty character =/), in strategy games or MOBAs you can beat campers by playing greedily and getting all the resources on the map, on most decent FPSes you get tools to deal with campers as well.

As far as snipers just finding good spots to camp in, I kind of like that. It gives me something to hunt. Nothing was more fun for me then finding a sniper in Battlefield and stabbing them in the back.
It is very satisfying to slither behind the enemy line in Battlefield and stab a sniper in the back, especially if you were sniping and he spoiled your run.

OT: Depends what you spam, if you spam the USAS-12 with Frags I despise you already, but I despise DICE more for including what amounts to a fully automatic grenade launcher with no hope of beating it once it's pointed within about 50 feet of you.

Camping is fine if it's for a reason and not just sitting in somebodies spawn with a shotgun. I love going on Kharg Island on BF3, finding me a nice little crevice up in those hills with a big bad sniper and picking off the enemy snipers from a relatively difficult to determine position.

Also, is it camping to capture a building or room with a mate, hold it with motion sensors and mines, in order to push forward your teams line and secure ground? It isn't in my opinion, it's just gaining the advantage through tactical and intelligent play.

Camping a spawn is cheap.

However, camping in-general is perfectly fine. The only reason people ***** about campers is because they're not coming up with ways to overcome the tactic. No, instead they keep running straight for him and dying.

Same with spamming, depending on what you mean. If someone in MW has a Grenade Launcher, it's perfectly fine to use that if it gets you kills. "STOP USING THE NOOB-TUBE SO THAT I CAN KILL YOU!"

Spawn camping/spamming is cheap as hell. The worst spawn-camp fest for me EVER was in rainbow six vegas. Whichever Dev thought it was a good idea to have ONE room as a teams spawn point that never moves is a fool.

Sniping and defending is fine i guess. Though camping with grenade mines everywhere in gears 2 was annoying as hell X(

Good thing they fixed them in gears 3, plays almost perfect now.

See I don't camp, I just tactically position myself somewhere where I can kill without being killed xD. As for spammers they can all go burn in the fiery inferno of hell or just stop playing whichever's easiest.

Camping is definitely a legit tactic, as long as it isn't incredibly unfair (such as spawn-camping). But if the opposition actually has a chance to kill the camper, but don't (either they fail at hitting, or the camper is better), then it is totally fair. Either focus on the camper and kill him, or just try an' avoid him. That'll force him to move for more kills.

Is shooting in full auto with an MG Spamming?
Kind of. The way i see it: Any repetative action that swamps the enemy and kills them/ makes them lose. This could be chucking grenades everywhere in a shooter, using an unblockable attack in a fighting game over and over again. Or sending a single type of over-powered unit in an RTS :)

I suppose by this point you should blame the game for letting you do that, still not fun though.

Haha, you lost to a spammer?

That's outplaying. There's no excuse to losing to a spammer, he outplayed you. It may not look like it at a first glance, but if you know anything about spacing, there is a massive difference with how well someone uses a fireball to keep control. That's just an example.

For example, on Street fighter 2 (as a honda player) if I go up against zangief, I am going to be mashing that fierce button to make sure he can't approach me without having to jump. Jumping in ANY street fighter game is something you should avoid doing unless you are certain you gain the advantage.

If I am against a ryu or ken, of bloody course they are going to be using those fireballs over and over again. I will just have to be patient and try and outsmart them.

Camping on its own? That's fine.

Spawn camping is just retarded though. I don't blame the players for this, no way.

I blame the designers who screwed up the spawn syste in their game. It's just a poor map/mechanic design if you are capable of killing someone so shortly after they respawn.

Camping a spawn point is just wrong and seems pretty unfair. I see nothing wrong with camping when players have to defend something like an item or a checkpoint.

I have not dealt with any spammers since I don't play fighting games with other people.
