Move is really foolish. Spidey is still a hot thing. Unlike how batman REALLY needed a reboot after some of the stuff with robin, spiderman can still make functional movies. Somebody said they didn't like how emo spidey was getting in 3, but did you read the description of the new movie? It's him as a teenager dealing with growing up and having super powers. That's like a recipe for uber emo-ness. Hell, they might as well just say they are gonna use the cast from twillight in this movie, cuz that's what it's gonna be.
What a minute... I thought him being a teenager and dealing with growing up and having super powers WAS the plot of the first movie?! I really don't think we need a re-remake of something. You screwed the pooch before, I'm seriously not behind the idea of them being able to get it right. The first two were alright, but I'm with the majority against the douchy "dark" (aka emo) spiderman. And who the hell thought Topher Grace would make a good Venom?! Up and down, the third one sucked worse than a $2 prostitute. I didn't blame anyone for not wanting to return to that series in the least after the way they attempted to take the seriousness of the project out in place of some humor. If that is their idea of humor, it's about as funny as spraying your own dookie with Poop-Freeze. I give it the double fail, once for Spiderman 3 and again for even considering starting over. Learn your lesson and leave it alone, you've ruined the fanbase that would see the movie.

I read this and celebrated inside. the first one was good but the other two were just TERRIBLE. forget a remake of the series, lets just drop spiderman altogether now.
are you kidding me? go back and watch the first one again. the only good thing about the entire thing was watching Willem Dafoe try to dumb himself down and act on the same shit level as the rest of the cast. the fight scenes look like Power Rangers at parts, i swear
No no, you misunderstand me. i thought all of the movies were terrible, i dont own nor do i have the desire to watch ANY of them. But the first one is significantly better when compared tot he second two. it at least had a kinda cool plot, and was a new super hero movie ya know? the second one was boring as hell and the third one was just so flaming suckulical that it caused me physical pain to have seen it. Kinda like the new Indiana Jones.
the latest Indiana Jones wasn't THAT bad... if instead of sticking to the normal plot, you imagine that the entire movie is one massive hallucination taking place in Indy's mind as he boils in his own radioactive juices while locked in that fridge he used to "escape" that nuke. Cracked is the sheet

Evil Dead 4. Now.
I'm inclinded to agree with you on the first part, but I've never seen Evil Dead. Please don't kill me Bruce, (I'm going to call you Bruce, if that's all right)

I'm glad to hear this, personally. Tobey's a great young Spider-Man, but now that the origin story's out of the way, I think getting an actor who could play Peter Parker a few years into his career (and possibly his marriage) is in order.

Except that's not what they're doing, if you read the link. The press release states that Peter is going back to high school in the 2012 film.

Oh, I see. Well, that's notably less exciting, but still rife with opportunity. New cast, new director, new chance to get Venom right.

I'm not quite sure why, but I almost feel glad. I don't know, maybe the franchise needs a reboot. Then again, the first movie came out in the last decade, so I have to stick with my firm belief that nothing should be rebooted before it has been around for at least 10 years.

Yeah, I honestly personally dislike Venom conceptually, so a) the portrayal in the third movie didn't bother me (if anything, it fixed a lot of the problems, in my knowingly-unpopular opinion), and b) I don't really care to see Venom in another movie.

my guess is they'll take the new Spidey along the Ultimate Spider-Man storyline, seeing as how it ties pretty closely to the newer Hulk/Iron Man movie arc. i mean, now that they're using Sam Jackson for the role of a black Nick Fury, they might as well keep using storylines and concepts from the Ultimate universe. spider-man's about a sophomore in high school, Venom is a biproduct of a cancer-curing liquid biosuit going rogue, Nick Fury constantly on his ass and making sure he isn't screwing up so bad that it keeps him out of S.H.I.E.L.D, that sort of thing.

...lol sorry, i became a fan of Ultimate Spider-Man when i was a kid and Spidey started getting big again.

That would be pretty amazing. The Avengers and the movies leading up to it are going to be amazing. Still waiting on the Thor movie...

I actually think this is good. I was really afraid that the 4th was going to be a big steaming pile of less then average. I am also excited to see what the new crew does with it and a new actor for Peter is good if you ask me.

And I agree with Furburt. Evil Dead 4. NOW. LIKE SOON. AFTER WARCRAFT.
Noooooooo, after Army of Darkness it's done dont ruin some of the best b-horror ever made please Raimi, anyway have you seen bruce campbell reccently he's not exactly in his prime and Ash was kind of left in a hellhole do you really want to see Evil dead meets generic wasteland apocalypse?
Uhh Raimi is still awesome and can still produce good movies (Drag me to Hell) but you are right about the Bruce Campbell thing. I know Raimi Could still make a good Evil Dead movie though. It'd be cool if he started a new franchise too.

I'm okay with it. From what I heard they were doing this whole vulture/black cat thing that I wasn't really interested in.

Evil Dead 4 would be a terrible idea. I think the series should remain as it is, with Army Of Darkness as the question mark at the end.

Hang on, I just read yesterday that it was put on hold so as not to clash with the release of the (sigh) Thor movie as Disney/Marvel want to push the whole Avengers thing.
Raimi said that he didn't want anyone else handling the Spiderman franchise, so I'm thinking it's still go... unless things have changed overnight.

You speak the truth. Get the Raimi/Campbell team back together to fight them demons. If only Bruce had been in "Drag Me to Hell."
