This is good, but for the complete opposite reason the guy said. Spiderman needs to have a GOOD movie series before he's ready to step up with the avengers. The Sam raimi trilogy was too campy, the new movies are too twilight crappy, as movie bob stated. I'm looking forward to a future reboot that's worthy of standing beside the current avengers and their individual movies.

edit: they should get the Whedon brothers to draft a script.

also, this guy is acting like an Avenger tie in would somehow harm his shitty franchise, when I guarantee a Spiderman movie that has iron man pop in for a second and wave hello, would be the most profitable spidey yet haha.

Good job ignoring what your primary audience wants. By refusing to provide this, you are sabotaging yourself. I hope your terrible movies fail and you are forced to give up these rights you cling to, so we can finally get the Spiderman movie we actually want.

"Peter Parker is unique; he's really different. He's not an Avenger. He's not an X-Man. He's unique and we revere that." comes across as a bit arrogant. Something like
"Peter Parker is unique; he's really different. He's not always an Avenger. He only sometimes interacts with the X-Men. He's unique and we revere that." is probably a bit more accurate.

I just want to see Hulk beat Hugh Jackman up, okay? No more Wolverine Origin stories! He's had three already! (XMEN 2, good though it was, is Wolverine Origins 0.5)

"He's not an Avenger."
Yes he is. So is Wolverine.

But then, he seems to think that a cross over is a move you pull when sales are starting to dip.

Oh well, I've no interest in this new Spider Man anyway, so I'll just wait till they fuck it up so bad Marvel has to take it back due to damaging the Spider Man IP, >.> still waiting on them to do that with the IPs Fox has to actually.

He specifically mentions that Spider-Man isn't part of the Avengers or the X-Men (though he IS an Avenger and is a close friend of the X-Men), but I think I should point out he is part of the Fantastic Four and those two franchises absolutely must crossover at some point. Dear God please.

The only Marvel movies are Marvel Studio movies. The rest are just cheap knockoffs. Respect to what came before Iron Man because they paved the way towards perfection (especially the first two Blade movies) but X-Men, Fantastic Four and especially this new Spider-Man franchise are standing in the way of progress and only deserve to be ridiculed and ignored until they slink away in shame and the true versions of these properties can finally see the light of day.

I'm not excited for any of these "other" Marvel films, Days of Future Past has slightly peaked my interest but only because First Class was good and The Bent Bullet promo was fantastic.

I shall continue to protest with my wallet, not seeing any more Spider Man or X Man Movies until they can join the MCU where they belong.

No matter how much my children hate me for it.

It sounds like he's doing exactly what Marvel is doing with their movies, only he's keeping it within one movie-series universe. Which I don't think is a good idea. The reason the Marvel movies are working is because they build off of each other, but they can stand by themselves as well. They can get away with having so many different characters on screen because those characters are already established in other movies. By the looks of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, these guys seem to think the idea of "cram as many people as we can into the movie just like they did and we've got a winner," is going to work, and I fear all it's going to do is make the movie feel cluttered and full. These characters, especially the villains, aren't going to get a chance to shine because they're all going to be fighting for screen time.

I could be wrong I suppose, but I don't think so.

At this point, can't Disney pretty much just buy Sony Studios outright and be done with it?

Every part of Sony has been imploding (Playstation being the lone exception). Just step in with a bucket of money and buy up all of it. No more Sony pictures, Spectacular Spider-Man for 2017. Bam. Done.

"I think it will take a moment in which we've run out of ideas,"
The fact that you had to copy Batman Begins with the origin story when it was simple enough on its own and turn Peter into a pseudo-hipster says you're already there.

"Peter Parker is unique; he's really different. He's not an Avenger.
Yes, he is.

He's not an X-Man.
Not technically, but he does give lectures at the Academy of Tomorrow and he is well liked by them, often teaming up with Wolverine.

He's unique and we revere that."
And yet his character in your move came across as rather generic when it came to teenager archetypes. Still stand by it, PETER PARKER DOES NOT SKATEBOARD!

No surprises here, they want to keep their cash cow to themselves. Jerks.
Seems to just be Avi Arad being a dumbass. Marc Webb and Andrew Garfield both want to crossover with Marvel.
The irony of keeping their "cash cow" to themselves is that their movies aren't especially good, and a crossover with Marvel would legitimize them, make them WILDLY more popular, and probably net them some direction from Marvel as to how to do it properly.

They don't want to share their money, but that means they're also not making nearly as much as they could be....which is silly (and the same thing as EA not putting their games on Steam).

Maddeningly short-sighted humans....

I don't mind The Amazing Spiderman, and ill probably like the second (Huge Spiderman fanboy here and i love seeing the character on screen...apart from Spiderman 3...) but wow this guy is an arse.

Really hope Marvel gets him back soon, not to fussed with X-men as i never really paid attention to them.

Also, question...Do Marvel have Fantastic 4 back?

"from the studio that brought you Thor"?
Nope.

Fox owns FF and will be rebooting the franchise as part of the existing X-men Universe soon, They've cast Kata Mara as Sue and Michael B. Jordan as Jonny which has pretty somewhat controversial (I'm game for it though)
See I'm a little more iffy about that. Not so much about the race swapping, but more that Johnny and Susan are brother and sister. How exactly are they gonna explain that one?

Eh... It'd be terrible, and also, he's not really.
Spider-Man is part of the Future Foundation.

If Marvel was doing it, it'd be awesome. But Sony and Fox would just be a godawful train wreck.
Fox has already completely fucked up the Fantastic Four reboot, and it hasn't even been made yet.
The Amazing Spider-Man is only mediocre and horribly flawed at its roots, so its sequels are unlikely to ever reach the point of being notably good.
As much as I'd love to see see Future Foundation Spider-Man and Doctor Doom teaming up in the movies, the Fox and Sony movies are NOT the ingredients you want to try and make that happen.

This is about as chocking to me as the news, that Guardians of the Galaxy were going to be tying into the overall MCU, that was posted a few days ago.
Wut.
A few days ago?
Shocking?

How did you not know that?

I've known that for years.... Literally from the moment that there were rumors that a Guardians movie was getting made.
And it was obvious even without them saying anything....Marvel only has one universe in the movies. Everything they do is connected.

I completely support this.
Buy back X-Men, Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, and Namor - PROBLEMS SOLVED.

He has been credited as a major force behind series-reshaping moves such as adding Venom to the cast of Spider-Man 3 (reportedly against the wishes of director Raimi) and the controversial 2010 decision to reboot the franchise entirely. In addition to Amazing Spider-Man, Arad's other post-Marvel projects have included Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance and Bratz: The Movie.
You forgot the masterpiece that was 'Roboseipian' "From the producer of Iron man, X-Men and Spiderman"

Surely being an Avi Arad film is a mark of quality.
Yah, this guy... It would be funny if it wasn't so funny. Have you ever seen CJ7. It's a Stephen Chow movie, and it's awesome. Robosapian seems loosely influenced by CJ7, Wall E and Short Circuit maybe, but it can't even compare to any of them.

There is a difference between movies that only a child could enjoy, and movies that are great and friendly for everyone.

For a little while, I had thought the new Amazing Spiderman movie might be alright, at least, but having caught a scene that involves Rhino (remember he is in this movie?) driving a truck full of plutonium containers (?), I can't tell if they're going with serious for this film or just plain goofy.

I can't help but feel that if anything, Amazing Spiderman 2 is going to be all over the place tonally. I'm hoping that X-Men: Days of Future Past will be better, even if it means I have to suffer another X-Men film where Wolverine is in it for more than a quick cameo. Anyway, regardless of the quality, when a movie based on a Marvel property isn't part of the larger MCU, it does seem like there is something lacking.

I wouldn't even consider what they are trying to do with Spidey/Sinister Six/Venom a "shared universe". Is it even possible to "share" a universe with yourself?
