....Didn't Peter reveal himself as Spider-Man during the Civil War? What happened to that?
A combination of the 3 MVP clones running around in his costume and the events of On.. One.. Un... I'm sorry, I just can't bring myself to say it. Look at Halyah's post.

He can always crash at Bucky's house, but then he will be forced to watch the Bourne movies every night. And if he stays with Luke Cage, he'll be put on diaper duty.

What's next, his mid-life crisis?
Shhh! Don't use the "C" word. I've seen what Grant Morrison did to Batman, and it isn't very good.
He's a Caveman, now.

I stopped reading Spider Man after One More Day.

I've yet to regret my decision.
what was it about?
You are going to regret asking that question. Aunt May gets shot because Peter revealed he is Spider-Man. He eventually makes a deal with Mephisto to save her and stop him revealing himself. Mephisto not only does that but pretty much un-does most of Spider-Man continuity since the 80s.
There is a reason I only read Ultimate Spider-Man for my fix. I don't get this stupid shit.

As for the unemployment checks, sure, why not? It fits with the whole punching bag thing that is Spider-Man's character. Doing the right thing for no reason and often at detriment to himself because it is right.

Yeah isn't that the comic where we find out Peter is never married to Mary-Jane??

That was Retconned... sort of...

Peter Parker and Mary Jane still had a relationship, they just never got married and while all knowledge of Spiderman's Identity was wiped out, a lot of holes were left where that knowledge was (giant, obvious gaps in his SHIELD file for instance).

All things considered though, Spider-Man has ALWAYS been life's punching bag the basic premise of a Spider-Man story is...

"Oh no! Dr. Octopus is threatening the city, but Aunt May is in the hospital and I need to work an extra shift at (Insert Crappy Job A) but if I do that I can't go on a date with Mary Jane, oh woe is me!"

That is and has always been Spider-Man's lot in life.

The Mary Jane thing was the one I was least pissed over. It revived an Osborn.

aunt may gets shot spidey makes deal with mephisto to keep her alive but mephisto being the major dick that he is says on the condition that he completely erases any existence of peter and mary jane being married.

Also wtf seriously? leave spidey alone hes gone through enough i have an idea peter wins the lottery and theres no more crime forever and the comics follow him on his adventures as a web slinging playboy.

I read this and couldn't help but imagine, though I'm not sure how I ended up imagining this:

What'll happen when Spidey hits 60? Does he go on TV to announce his retirement? Buy a lake-house in Florida?
Will he one day be "Mr.Spiderman", stuck in an old folks home and needing a nurse to change his diapers?

The more human Spidey gets, the harder he's gonna crash when he's done.

This is why I don't read comics with continuity, that and I'm not really into comics to begin with, but everytime I hear something out of the mainline continuity (especially Marvel's) it's always something that just makes the hero or character involved feel even more lame than they were making him previously. Like the One More Day thing or the whole Civil War thing to begin with (though I did read that one, didn't like it though).

Anyways, I guess since I don't actually keep up with the mainline maybe my opinion doesn't count for much but whatever. Rah rah rah beblach.

The article mentions web fluid, and I could be wrong about this, since I don't read comics, but didn't "The Other" remove Spidey's need for web fluid as well as basically making him a reskinned Wolverine? Or did that get retconned away when Marvel had their poster boy display his continuing selfless role-model behavior by making a deal with the devil?

Yeah, Joe Quesada retconned that out of existance, along with 20 years of character development.
