I agree, way too much going on to be a good storyline. And the action didnt get too creative either.

I didn't see the third one, but that is just because the first two turned my brain to putty.

I think it was just too busy. You simply cannot fit three villains as big as Venom, Green Goblin II (oh fine, New Goblin) and Sandman into one film and expect it to come out smelling like roses.

To me, Venom and New Goblin were both stories with a lot of potential that could have truly benefited from a steady buildup. Like, imagine if Spidey found the Black Suit in Spider-Man 3 and used it to save the day, without having his emotions effected too much. To the average movie goer, it looks like Spidey's just found an awesome new costume to help him win fights. To the fans... It's a sign that the next movie is going to be all about the "battle within", eventually leading up to a showdown with Venom.
Why didn't they do that? I blame the producers now. If they are in charge of that..

Hmmm, a couple of things:

That the people in charge got the way the symbiote affects people all wrong.
Too many villains were crammed into the film, leaving very little time for the development of either of them.

That's it really.

Will I get crucified if I say I liked it? I don't like them cramming in 2 or 3 villains into the same film, green goblin Jr. started out as an enemy.

I did like it on the whole though.

They shouldn't have put Sandman in that movie at all. Let's be honest, does anyone here really care about Sandman?

Raimi didn't want to do Venom at all, but the studio demanded it. Not surprisingly, Raimi's treatment of a character he didn't like, want, or care about turned out to be garbage. Go figure. And I'd say pretty much everything that was wrong with Spider-Man 3 (well, everything that wasn't also wrong with the first two, anyway) stemmed directly out of the symbiote's inclusion. I like to think that some executive somewhere has learned an important lesson about shoehorning popular characters into works not intended for them.

I do.

Well actually, that's a lie. No one cares about the Sandman. No one.

1.Venom only had like 10 minutes of screen time.

2.The DANCING.

3.Eric from that 70's show playing VENOM, i was expecting Red to pop up and be all like 'Venom, YOU DUMBASS' and that be the end of hte movie.

First of all they made Sandman the real killer of uncle Ben, taking away Spider-man's entire reason for being Spider-man.
Secondly there were, like, 3 different storylines meshed together.
Plus, Danny Elfman left, turning the score into somekind of mediocre trompet crap. And John Dykstra left as visual effects designer.

Venom should've been a villain in his own movie and not tacked in with sandman.
..

This is what ruined it for me. Hell they should've thrown Carnage in. Now that would've made it worth watching (for me anyhow.)

I think having three villians in one movie is what cocked it up. Anyone who liked Spidey was waiting the whole God-damned film for Venom, and all he did was scream and die embarassingly quick.

If they concentrated on the Ooze from the start, rather than shitting all over established plot-points with Sandman and trying to make a torn hero-villian with Green Goblin, then they might have made a better film.

But of course writing isn't without overall intent or motive. I personally think that Spiderman 3 failed miserably because it tried to please everyone. They tried to cater to the comic crowd with Venom, the emotional crowd with the constant crying, the emo/(insert social group here) crowd with the symbiotic suit making him flamboyant as hell, and then there's the comedy...Oh Sam...

What we were left with was two and a half villains, none of which got enough screen time to please anyone and one of which was crying like a *****, Peter also crying like a little ***** where it's not wanted nor needed, Gwen Stacy dying for no reason, and the single most hideously cringe-worthy scene I've ever seen in film (you know what I mean...oh fine, here:
)

Now the question you asked is how they could better Spiderman 4. Black Cat as a love interest/antagonist, and Silver Sable as the overall antagonist. Job done.

Failing that, replace Silver Sable with Bruce Campbell as Kraven The Hunter, but I'd prefer Sable.

P.S. I mean Ultimate Silver Sable [http://media.comicvine.com/uploads/0/6060/172620-7257-113591-1-ultimate-spider-man_super.jpg]. In fact she could deal with the unmasking of Spider-Man, and that could be a good way to showcase a new Parker if Maguire doesn't come back.
Gwen Stacy didn't die, and I was wondering, what does -snip- mean?
Ahh yes you're right, I must have been thinking of the comics....(crap, time for a distraction!)

Oh god! Gwen's dead! Why god? Why? Etc.

Anyway..."snip" is when someone shortens someone's quote to reduce clutter and not scare people away from their post with a stack of words and quotes. It's also to show that you aren't tampering with someone's post either, just shortening it to what you want to emphasise.

And if Gwen didn't die, then did her dad? Did I just forget a chunk of Spiderman 3, or did I block that much of it from my mind?
No actually, the only person who died was Harry. Yes Venom was exploded in the end, but do you really think he is dead?
Christ no. And I really wish Venom wasn't in 3.
