So how do you think is Spiderman's greatest foe? I know a lot of people will say Green Goblin, Doc Ock, or Venom (hey they are some major spidie villians) but I think differently. I think Spiderman's greatest foe is death. I mean its a major part of Spiderman's character and theme and its the one thing he has never been able to defeat.

So Escapists discuss what you think is his greatest weakness.

Well if you wanna be meta about it,
Right now I think his worst enemy is SONY.
Theyre basically holding him hostage and molesting him, making marvel watch.

Well in the marvel universe Death is sort of a character and interacts with others on main different times. In fact Thanos is in love with Death, killing half of the universe once to prove his love. So I think Death is fair game.

Venom or Carnage, seeing as they knows all about Spidey.

My knowledge is limited to the films and 90s cartoon, though.

Is nothing sacred? D:
Because she's Deadpool's girlfriend. He's immortal because Thanos is jealous and wants to keep him from ever dying and getting to be with her.

Venom certainly knows how to completely ruin Spidey's day.

I'd have to agree with the Hollyman above and say Venom and Carnage. They both know Spiderman (literally) inside and out. They know how he thinks and his spider sense doesn't pick them up.

Plus they are both bat shit nuts which helps ... although Carnage wins on the nuts'o'meter.

It also doesn't hurt that they are my 2 favourite characters so my opinion is in no way biased or anything.

I'm well aware, it's still ridiculous. XD

Doctor Octopus. One of Spider-Man's oldest and deadliest foes.
Sure Doc Ock doesn't go for Peter's personal life(on purpose) but that doesn't stop him from being one of, if not, the biggest threat in Spider-Man's rouges gallery.
This is the guy who ***** slapped Spidey out a window in their first encounter, with his normal hand no less.
This is the guy who has brought together multiple teams just to explicitly wreck Spider-Man's shit. And he's always been badass, and not retroactively turned into a deadly foe like the Green Goblin.

I am aware shes "a character" but I dont think ive ever seen her interact with spidey.
If there is a personified "Life" character in the universe or "Karma" or "tragic Irony" I feel they are more out to get spidey due to the sheer coincidences that make his life suck.

Ok. I know that. I just feel that Spiderman deals with his failure and death moreso than any of the other Marvel or DC superheros. In fact its a very important part of his character. So I stand by it. I know its pretty meta but I stand by my statement.

I'm going to go with the guy who beat Spiderman, buried him, and then proved himself better at Spiderman's job than the webslinger.

And there's one final thing I see; something I don't think I was capable of seeing till now: every man has his Spider. And perhaps I...I have been YOURS.

Venom. Most of Spider-man's nemeses are people that were doing their own evil stuff until Spidey ruined their day and then they got obsessed about taking him out of the picture. Or he just keeps running into them mid scheme and ruins their day again.

Venom is the opposite, his entire purpose is to torment and kill Spiderman. He's utterly implacable, has all the same powers as Spidey but cranked to 11, and he is immune to Spider-Sense. Venom is one of the very few villains who can sneak up on him. He's like a spider-terminator. With fangs.

Yeah. Kraven is such a threat that he decided to swallow a shotgun instead of dealing with some aftermath.

On topic, Himself. All of his massive failures were cause by himself. Gwen Stacy neck snapped because of him. His marriage ended because he could not see a world without Aunt May. He outed himself as a hero putting his family at risk. Uncle Ben died because of his mistakes.

Seriously no one has mentioned Mephisto yet?
He not only did he hilariously dissolve spiderman's marriage but he made fans shit bricks about it too.
My kind of villain.

Edit: Wait no I take it back!
Spiderman's greatest foe is clearly this man:

J. Jonah Jameson

Z of the Na'vi

I could have sworn he was a Ghost Rider villain.

OT: Out of all that villains Spider-Man has, I am going to have to go with Venom.

I say it's either J. Jonah Jameson since he always label him as a mask vigilante and a criminal no matter how good he he did or that usher (Bruce Campbell) that didn't let Peter into MJ play.

Rhino. He's CONSTANTLY out of jail wrecking shit. He just has the consistency other villains don't.
