Spore was a pretty very ambitious game and, for me, a fun one. However, some things come have been done better like being able to stay in the ocean live as a sea creature.
IF Maxis ever make a sequel for Spore 2, what changes and new features would you want to see?

Yeah, this is really what it would need. Spore was probably my first major disappointment when it comes to video games.

So, uh, yeah. A genetic/evolution simulator of some sort would be nice, instead of a set of cartoony, below-average interpretations of popular games in other genres.
Oh, and no Securom, of course.

I mean, sorry if you liked the game, OP. This thread is probably not going to be kind to your opinion.

YES.
I was like 14 and loving everything that I saw in the trailers. I followed it all the way up to release and... it sucked. It sucked bad. Everything I wanted in the trailers wasn't there, and I was so disappointed.

i dont think its possible to do it to be honest. you would need a pile of different teams working seperately but in close unison with the time and money you would normally get on a seperate game each to do justice to each evoluntionary age.

so yeah you would need an extensive cellular game, even more detailed animal stage a civilisation depth game and then a space 4x game. each worthy of a full game in their own right
Yeah, I liked Spore but the amount of work it would take to properly flesh out each individual stage and fit them together well is staggering, and if Spore 2 came out tomorrow it would still unavoidably be made up of lesser versions of a bunch of different games with the addition of a really cool creation system. It might be great, but it'd still be a disappointment for many and whenever you play each section you'd likely have a sinking feeling that there are better, bigger versions of it around.

I reckon if there were a Spore 2 it should deal exclusively with either the early development-tribal stages or the space-age one, since both of these sections in particular potentially offer some interesting things that only something like Spore could give if it were expanded on, but in trying to do a bunch of stages at once Spore inevitably falls short.
No other game to my knowledge lets you play as a weirdo creature struggling to survive in a sea or land of various weirdo creatures and ultimately evolving into a bigger, tougher weirdo creature. They could make something really great if they stick exclusively with and expand on these early development stages. Give a bunch more environments they can develop in which drastically affect their evolution, from deserts to jungles to mountain ranges, add the potential for sub-species and various crazy mutations to come about. Have your weirdo creature truly be shaped by both your input as well as it's environment with very different results each time.
On the other hand they could expand on the fairly limited Space Age making it a kind of heavy singleplayer 4x of sorts. If this were so you wouldn't be able to gradually build up your species (which you could maybe argue misses the entire point of Spore) instead having to build something then jump in, but there would still be a ton of potential for you to design all kinds of cool stuff from spaceships to buildings to weapons and vehicles. Being able to truly shape the look and feel of your space empire as they become more and more powerful as you make great decisions which affect it's future would be brilliant if done right, and while there are games where you can do this kind of thing with pre-existing factions or species, I don't think there is one where you do so with one that's yours.

Oh man...everything.
At least all the stuff that got cut from the final version.

All that, and basically make it a 3-D E.V.O. Search For Eden with the creature creator.

I actually do like the Spore we got, but it could be improved so easily and vastly.

Some actual content, besides the first 4/5th of the game compressed in something that can be done in an hour.

Relevant choices with creature design.
Actual evolution based progress.
Let me explain that one;
In Spore you could replace the beak with a row of shark teeth within one generation.
That makes no sense. If you picked a beak, have the next option be limited to a beak ancestor.

How about an actual space fleet for my homeworld, so that they don't go crying for me to jump halfway back across the galaxy because pirates are making them scared?

Also very much this. It's like they promised me quality marble and a plethora of tools to create whatever I wanted... and then gave me half a box of Super Blox. Not even LEGOs.

If I remember correctly, two of the stuff they left out were these (what that person commented on all the things they left out)-

If your creature got no sight (eyes), you see the game very differently.
Where you place the legs will also affect the creature weight wise.

Not sure if the following were mention but I would like to see these-
Actual clothing, not random bits stuck onto your creature! Ok I will admit that would be impossible to do (it will be like rending a clothing onto the creature which the creature can be any shape and size!)

Well... i'd like to see an actual game. Because only 2/6 Phases were actually funny. Creature and universe.

Though the latter one lost it's drive really fast, since there's nothing to do except goofin' around really. And fiddling with some planets coloros can only be funny for a certain amount of time.

And in the rest of the phases your design choices just had no influence anymore.

Maybe the game was just to child-friendly to be anything more than glorified lego.

Not being produced by EA, so the game is allowed it take its time and actually not be shit a massive disappointment from what even the alpha builds were capable of.

Personally I just really want them to expand and improve the space stuff, in particular let you have more than one ship, a fleet would be pretty awesome. I enjoyed Spore for the most part but I just quit the game when I got to the space stage, accidentally pissed off one race because I did as the game instructed and grabbed an artifact I found, and then had all my attempts at exploration and colonization cut short to run off and defend my planet (which since the space combat sucked I was fairly bad at doing). Be nice if I didn't have to rush back across the galaxy every time there was a problem.

Cut everything but the Creature stage (and maybe the Cell Stage) and just focus on that. Spore's main problem was it was spread too thin.

Making a critter with no eyes cuts off 90% of the screen (with only a small circle around your creature remaining and colours what's left Monochrome (except for fruit, which glows bright orange. Representing smell prehaps?)

Can't speak for the second, I'm pretty sure leg placement doesn't alter anything other than the walking animations.

Get rid of everything besides the ocean part, and expand upon it. You grow, you get more features, until you are at the top of the food chain, then you win.

There was an awesome super Nintendo game with a similar premise, though I can't remember the name, actually, it might have been called Evo.

Spore should have been just an updated EVO. All that tribe and beyond stuff, that sucked. Spore is the classic example of a game that starts off strong then gets weaker and weaker.
