Spore won't cause controversy. The places where creationism is still popular are often the same places where your siblings fancy you and everyone is very fat. I won't mention the country's name but I doubt very much that Spore will get anymore controversy than the Sims. If the Sims got no controversy for playing God why should Spore get any more?
Hmmm, US hatin' is becoming common on the internet nowadays. You have to remember that not all of us are cheeseburger inhaling fat bastards who have no critical thinking skills and thus buy into bullshit like Creationism. I, for example, prefer Taco Bell. -_^ But I digress.
The main problem with these people is that there is no reason or logic to the Creationist argument. It is entirely faith based in that the Bible is to be taken literally and there's no way that you can question it because it is a sacred document handed down by God directly to the original writers. Which is, of course, a lie since it has already been shown that history cannot prove Jesus' existence from any written record produced at the time he lived. Even theologians cannot agree on when he lived. And that's not to mention that if you choose to believe just one of the sketchy claims the Creationists make then you also have to throw out mounds of evidence in support of Darwinism. Only religion could inspire such incompetence. You won't usually catch the Creationists bringing this up, however. Any evidence that discredits their argument is ignored or declared "counter to the Bible" and therefore, wrong (somehow).
You cannot prove or disprove the existence of God and therefore, you will never be able to prove or disprove the Creationists. It is a matter of faith. Faith is not science. What's more important is to believe in the idea and morals the Bible espouses than focus on how the Bible proves some random Creationist argument. My old pastor probably had the best explaination I've ever heard on the topic of Creationism (he was Catholic, BTW): "Science explains the 'how' of creation. The Bible explains the 'why'."
Will Spore create a controversy here? I think the potential definitely exists given that people around here love to protest things that they have no idea about. All it takes is for one teacher to present it in his Biology class and things are all downhill from there.
