Anyone else notice the sunglasses slipping over his eyes?

Anna Navarre: You're wearing sunglasses on a night operation?
JC Denton: My vision is augmented.

Looks like Assassin's Creed Future.

I'll withhold judgment for the time being, though. I'm in the camp that believes Deus Ex is one of the best games ever made, and while I wouldn't expect ANYTHING to be as good (not even a sequel/prequel), Invisible War was underwhelming. It felt like an entirely different team had taken on the franchise and tried to recreate the first game, but missed the point completely. I have high hopes for this new one, but I'm not excited yet.

Some things to note:

In the screens that show logos and captions, there is something that resembles folding oragami.

The beginning references the famous Rembrandt Painting The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp. [http://www.maitrise-orthop.com/corpusmaitri/orthopaedic/86_masquelet/masqueletus.shtml] Also note that all but one of the anatomists have the same face/model.

The body being dissected then turns into an angel who flies out of Vatican City's St. Peter's Bascilla. The entire series is built on conspiracy theories. The last two games involved the Knights Templar before they were all the rage in best sellers. Maybe the game will sprinkle in some Dan Brown.

The angel then flies too close to the sun and his wings melt off. An obvious reference to the Greek myth of Daedalus and Icarus escaping the labyrinth. Those who have played the original games know that Daedalus and Icarus were AIs one benevolent and the other antagonistic. They later merged together to form the near omnipotent Helios AI. It can also be read as a subtext. Daedalus used his genius to serve the tyrannical King of Minos. He built wings to fly away and escape with his son Icarus. Icarus was arrogant enough to want to fly as high as the Gods and had his wings melt off by being too close to the sun as a consequence of that.

If the protagonist of the trailer is the protagonist of the game, then he'll be the first one to be mechanically augmented instead of nano augmented.

The box of ammo reads 10mm flechettes. As huge fan of the powerhouse 10mm pistol from the first game, and decrier of Invisible War's bullshit "universal ammo" created to appease console gamers I'm very relieved.

The lead's bionic arm and eye has the text SARIF on it. Sarif is an South-Asian surname. This makes a lot of sense seeing as how India is slated to become one of the world superpowers of the next century.

The X-Ray vision dates a fracture on the enemy. Is this legal? Is that the technology scanning and dating the information it has or looking up the subject online? Will this be a hacked biomod? Will this mean we can target weakspots besides instant kill headshots and non lethal armshots?

Until they show some gameplay, my excitement will be inversely proportional to how much Square was involved in the development.
EDIT: Also, will our scruffy protagonist have a skul-gun?

I really love both "Deus Ex" games. Both had drastically different gameplay mechanics, but each one were fun in their own way to keep me entertained.

This trailer...I don't know. I got the impression this was more like "Assassin's Creed" then a "Deus Ex" game. I'd like to learn more about this game before I get over-hyped like a sparkly-vampire fan-girl.

OH SHIT YES
Wait, I just realized that this trailer elevated my expectation of this game by around 400%. Now if it's not a work of art I'm going to be disappointed (having played through both previous games multiple times)

Invisible War wasn't a bad game, it just had the misfortune of being the sequel to one of the best games of all time.
I didn't think it was a bad game either, but it being designed for a console rather than the PC as the original hurt what the game could and couldn't do. Or what it could have been.

If this were a trailer for any other game, I would've called the magic sunglasses thing in the trailer bullshit. As a nod to JC Denton's absurd devotion to his sunglasses regardless of his environment (his vision is augmented), however, it's completely awesome.

Niiiiice. The Mecha mods will allow prejudice and discrimination towards the character unlike deus ex 1 and 2. Also I wonder if there is going to be a consequence for heavy augmentation how augged you are. I wonder if you get to meet Gunther and Navvarro.

It doesn't look like Deus Ex.

Don't get me wrong I love the Renaissance and I find Transhumanism facinating but it's not Deus Ex at all.

Dont worry Square Enixs involvement limited to teh cutscenes and tbh thats what they excel at. Eidos montreal in charge of shit. I for one have not wanted a game as badly based on its predecessors since FF8, GTA4 and MGS2. <====== bad examples but still hand on heart i will own this game release day

Btw somebody please post the motivational DX poster, you know the one i mean.

Despite the huge urge I have to only say "What a shame" and walk away, this looks fucking awesome. I hope to god it turns out well.

Ah, Deus Ex. The best game I've ever argued politics with a bartender for five minutes in.

From the trailer it looks like they're taking it to the next notch and switching out the political undertones with philosophical undertones. Or maybe it's just some smart-sounding pseudo-philosophical crap. Who knows?

I'm in the same camp as some of the other people here. I never played the first one, but did play Invisible War (a million times), and thoroughly loved it. From the video I'd have to say I'm really looking forward to this.
