Hey. Get the trademarks ready ASAP.

These games probably ain't gonna see release until until 2020.

So they might be announcing a series of games all at once before even starting development, just like they did with Fabula Nova Crystallis?

I hope not. All that waiting made expectations for FFXIII, Agito, and Versus way too high.

The real question is how is a company that before the release of FFXIII was struggling to acquire funds is able to work on up to 6 titles?

Prediction:
1) A multiplatform release with slight variations, a-la Nier Gestalt and Nier Replicant in Japan.
2) Something for the mobile phones.

After seeing a synopsis of its godawful plot, I can safely tell you that is not so. They did nothing less than spit in the faces of the fans.
Funny. That's the entire point of the FF7 compilation, because they certainly had no interest in telling a good story or making a good game.
Advent Children? One of the worst CGI movies out there.
Dirge of Cerberus? Easily one of the worst GAMES made in the last 10 years by a AAA company for a mainstream license no less.

Crisis Core was the only game that even tried to capture the sense of the original, but between the confusing "sliding anachronism" (which they're now doing to Deus Ex as well, though at least there it's somewhat justified since Deus Ex was set in the real world future to begin with), the wild shifts in tone between the original and the compilation, the increasingly stupid extended plot, and the shamelessly terrible fan service, I can't imagine that Squeenix has anything but contempt for their fans today.

What's worse, is that they know they will get away with it because their brand recognition is just that damn strong.
Perhaps we'd be better off if Squeenix didn't make a sequel to any of their remaining good oldies; because if the botch job they did with the FF7 Compilation was any indication, Squeenix has absolutely no business making games anymore (and never had any business making feature films).

Can?t blame them. FF has one of the most unpleasable fan bases in video games, they demanded remakes and sequels but then called Square unoriginal for making them, they wanted less cut scenes so Final Fantasy XII cut them down and the fans complained about that!
Dear god, this. The thing I hate most about being a fan of anything SE does is being associated with such a cancerous fanbase.

Yes, and let's see the Mass Effect & Fallout fanboys say that when they get up to 6, or 8, or 10.

Admit it. Because it's an Japanese RPG franchise, it's immediately terrible compared to the "infinitely better in every way WRPGs". As is the custom with the interbutts these days..
Uhh, dunno whether you've heard, but Mass Effect is planned to be a trilogy...

Squeenix should give the Final Fantasy brand a rest, and revive it after a considerable length of time (one of the ways Fallout 3 was so dramatic - a sequel after 10 years). Meanwhile, if they really don't feel like coming up with a new IP, why not go back and revive a past franchise?

I would've a Chrono Cross or Seiken Densetsu revamp over another FF title, any day of the week...

FF12's story was doomed when the long time lead writer walked off the project halfway through production.
While I agree that FF fans are notoriously bitchy/needy, I still believe that many of Squeenix's problems stem from how they manage their company.
There have been attempts at true creativity and even satire over the years (I actually enjoyed parts of Radiata Stories just because of the tone it set. It's not a great game, but at least it was entertaining to play), but Squeenix is still trying (in vain) to find that next "revolutionary game" that they can milk for years to come.

Why do you think they tried to start that "Fabula Nova Crysalis" nonsense for FF13? They were trying to create a fully exploitable franchise without having already established it as a franchise, and it just doesn't work that way!

Seriously people, why the Square-Enix hate?
I mean, yeah they're not BioWare golden boys, but neither are they LJN nazis...

I say give em a chance...

It seems that around here the only way a company can be loved is if they maintain a prefect track record and if they make any mistake, they are called untalented hacks that are dragging the industry down. Personally, I?m waiting for Bioware to screw up so I can see them get this treatment as well.
True.
I honestly don't get why people are so hating on FFXIII. Sure not the game everybody wanted and the story is typically JRPG, but it's still a great game as a standalone game.

I'll just be waiting for them to make an RPG again. It wouldn't surprise me if XIII-2 was a movie advent-children style by now... (I love Advent Children).
I too dug the hell out of advent children. On a side note the square-enix fans datamining ferocity is on par with that of the valve fan. I mean seriously combing small trademarks trying to flesh out the earliest hint of a new series or change to a current one.

My nerd hat is off to you. Via con Dios.

Yeah, I see an increasing amount of speculation in gaming news far too often now... Come to think it's not really speculation as it is latching onto something and blowing it up. Not necessarily this, but I've seen far worse things, the Valve fans as you mentioned rings a bell with every little thing being "They're going to announce Episode 3!!! YAY!" :p

I'm not even much of a Square/Jrpg fan, but Advent Children I really like and some of their other things.

I think Square's best recent decision was releasing Final Fantasies 7 and 9 on the PSN. It might just be nostalgia, but I love those games. After Final Fantasi XIII, I just can't feel excited about any of their current/future projects anymore.

Did I say I didn't know about the Mass Effect trilogy? It will be like Star Wars. There will be more games. And spin-offs. Because the fans WILL WANT THEM.

My point still stands. WRPG fans will lap up ANY WRPG that happens to be in the high numbers of the franchise.. But a JRPG? HOLD THE SHIT-GARGLING PHONE. STOP THE FUCKING PRESSES. Simply because WRPG fans don't like JRPGs, does NOT make them bad games. Don't like them? Don't play them! Or talk about them! Why the fuck can't JRPG fans have THEIR games and WRPGs have THEIR games.

JRPG fans need to listen just as much! I know it's a problem both ways, but when WRPG fans constantly belittle and berate the JRPG fan community, it's no wonder they get a forceful retaliation. Luckily, most sensible gamers DON'T GIVE A SHIT either way. They'll play a game based on their own preference. Not a sub-genre.

I'll play Fable III quite often.. But I really don't enjoy Mass Effect or Fallout.

It seems to be that JRPGs happen to have generally more colour (read: they actually have colour!)
Fallout = BROWN WASTELAND
Grand Theft Auto IV = DULL BROWN AND GREY
Mass Effect = DARK BROODY BLUES
Final Fantasy X, XII & XIII = OMG IT HAS ACTUAL COLOURS I AM AMAZED

Ok im getting a bit scared at SE now, just HOW much shit do they keep piling on their plate. When they're fanbase only wants only 1 game and 1 game only the FF7 modernize and maybe some advent after story added on after you beat the normal game. Damn SE has 3 versions of FF13 they're suppose, People are STILL waiting for Kingdom Hearts 3 and now they have 4 of the "type" games which are just building hype eventhough most people don't trust they're quality since Wada is still around. It's just this gambit its either gonna make them legends in either idiots that killed they're own company or psychos that managed to pull some out of their asses that finally are great games.

The problem the Western World has with JRPGs is it is the same whiny bs everytime with a mild change...

Fallout 3 - Dude, its a Wasteland...like...fallout and what happens when atomic bombing was told to be when it happened...Charred Broken Rusted Brown....Desolate..
Grand Theft Auto 4 - was a "gritty realism" to the franchise
Mass Effect - No Comment...its space...sorry space its a technicolor dreamcoat
Final Fantasy - Just....How is that go against:
Fallout 3 - based on the 1950s style view of a an atomic powered America..
Grand Theft Auto 4 - based in 2009...
Mass Effect - set in 2100?
