I think that they have been in full force whoring out the name when they passed FFV.
Yes, and let's see the Mass Effect & Fallout fanboys say that when they get up to 6, or 8, or 10.

Admit it. Because it's an Japanese RPG franchise, it's immediately terrible compared to the "infinitely better in every way WRPGs". As is the custom with the interbutts these days..
Uhh, dunno whether you've heard, but Mass Effect is planned to be a trilogy...

Squeenix should give the Final Fantasy brand a rest, and revive it after a considerable length of time (one of the ways Fallout 3 was so dramatic - a sequel after 10 years). Meanwhile, if they really don't feel like coming up with a new IP, why not go back and revive a past franchise?

I would've a Chrono Cross or Seiken Densetsu revamp over another FF title, any day of the week...
Did I say I didn't know about the Mass Effect trilogy? It will be like Star Wars. There will be more games. And spin-offs. Because the fans WILL WANT THEM.

My point still stands. WRPG fans will lap up ANY WRPG that happens to be in the high numbers of the franchise.. But a JRPG? HOLD THE SHIT-GARGLING PHONE. STOP THE FUCKING PRESSES. Simply because WRPG fans don't like JRPGs, does NOT make them bad games. Don't like them? Don't play them! Or talk about them! Why the fuck can't JRPG fans have THEIR games and WRPGs have THEIR games.

JRPG fans need to listen just as much! I know it's a problem both ways, but when WRPG fans constantly belittle and berate the JRPG fan community, it's no wonder they get a forceful retaliation. Luckily, most sensible gamers DON'T GIVE A SHIT either way. They'll play a game based on their own preference. Not a sub-genre.

I'll play Fable III quite often.. But I really don't enjoy Mass Effect or Fallout.
I'll play Final Fantasy quite often. But I really don't enjoy... A lot of other JRPGs.

It seems to be that JRPGs happen to have generally more colour (read: they actually have colour!)
Fallout = BROWN WASTELAND
Grand Theft Auto IV = DULL BROWN AND GREY
Mass Effect = DARK BROODY BLUES
Final Fantasy X, XII & XIII = OMG IT HAS ACTUAL COLOURS I AM AMAZED
WRPGs get a free pass? No one bitched about Bethesda titles being utterly broken? No one complained about Mass Effect's 'streamlining' of its RPG elements? Exactly how many reviewers gave The Force Unleashed II a positive review? You may wanna look around.

And can you point out exactly how many JRPG franchises are attacked by WRPG fans? Did it ever occur to you that maybe, you know, the flak that Final Fantasy gets is because it actually deserves it? The last two JRPGs I played were Infinite Space and Knights in the Nightmare - and I loved them. I've yet to find a negative Western review of either of these two titles. They're in the same vein as the old Japanese titles that captured Western audiences - Chrono Cross, Earthbound, the original FF titles, etc.

As for the titles you pointed out: Fallout has the most amazing rendition of Cold War America aesthetically, and there are no other major RPGs that does retro-futurism this well; Mass Effect has one of the most engrossing storylines of any recent titles - creating such depth of its universe that Star Wars took decades to create; and frankly when fans complain that a video game sequel's characters are not complex enough, you're dealing with a franchise of an entirely different caliber; as for GTA, it's an RPG franchise that makes everything else look like a corridor shooter. Personally, I never liked FF X, XII and XIII. The characters weren't fleshed out, hate turn-based combat, and as for the their OMG IT HAS ACTUAL COLOURS I AM AMAZED, their fashion sense is ridiculous. IMHO, of course. I'm just hoping they don't fuck up Versus XIII.

And you may want to lay off the whole 'Mass-Effect-is-the-new-Star-Wars' bit (I remember you doing the same rant back in a CoD forum). BioWare has yet to fuck up with this IP. It's entirely possible that at one point they might. But I've yet to see them milk a franchise to the extent Square Enix did with Final Fantasy - where is the double digit sequel to Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights and Jade Empire? Instead we got new IPs - ME and DA.
