I really hated Blitzball. Got every Final Fantasy game for PS/PS2/PS3, but I wouldn't pick up that game. Doubt they'd make much money of it tbh.

Blitzb-...God no. That would be right up there with XIII and XVI.

Now the card game from VIII...that'd be worth investing in.

Yes Blitzball!! They should make a game where you could make your own clubs and players. Blitzball was actually the only thing i liked in FFX.

The human part of me has the urge to kill just by the thread title.

The soulless capitalist in me says that this is probably correct and that a budget title with some spiffy screenshots but absolute zero efford and gameplay improvements would be the most profitable course of action.

This.

OT: I can see where OP is going with this. But frankly Square won't be interested in this and even if they DID make it a stand-alone game I dread it would only turn out to be another bland attempt at moneymilking like every Madden and NFL title from EA Games.

No thank you, Blitzball was a PITA in my opinion. All of the mini-games from the Final Fantasy series have there fans but I doubt any of them were popular enough for their own pressed disc game to be profitable. Digital distribution app maybe but not disc based.

How can you say that Triple Triad was terrible and lent nothing to the game.

Blitzball? They wouldn't get any money from me but maybe they'd get enough people like you to cash in...

I didn't like Blitzball at all.

What I did like, however, was the Chocobo racing & breeding from Final Fantasy VII.

They should have made a game about that, instead of the "Chocobo Racing" game they eventually came out with.

Sorry for the DP.

WHAT? Playing the card game gave you the materials needed to make awesome weapons early, get ridiculosuly strong really fast, and breeze through the game. Also, it was freaking addicting. It gave more to the game than Blitzball, since all you got from that were Wakka's ultimates and a few items you could get anywhere.
I will give you that blitzball was absolute tripe but the only way you can get half of the crap from that was by save scumming and pray to the random number god that you didn't get screwed by the first move.

you forgot 11 and 12 too

OT: No i dont think that would have been such a good idea i mean dont get me wrong i fucking loved Blitzball i had to have had at least 30 hours of gameplay on it (not a exaggeration) but it was one of those things you either loved or hated and unfortunately most people hated it

All these FF spinoffs... why?

Even in Japan, a place heavily invested in installments of the FF series, people have sorta stopped caring about anything FF except for Advent Children. All people really want these days is a proper HD remake of FF7, not more new spin offs or big budget flops.

This is what I was told from a friend who lived in Japan for 5 years, so the prevailing attitude may have changed, but I'm willing to bet her observations still hold weight.

---

I'd like to see them redo Bushido Blade. 1 hit kill fighting games (with swords, daggers and polearms) that emphasize blocking and technique are a rare find (even if the game did periodically do a dick move by having an enemy pull out a fucking gun and Indiana Jones your dopey ass).

As a 2-D fighter fan my self I can sympathise with this. The problum is that there are not many people who would buy that game.

It confused me to hell, I just pass the controller to my boyfriend so he can play it for me.
I wouldn't buy it, some others might, but I don't see it doing well.
