Gabriel moved through the jungle like a predator on the hunt, swiftly and silently, his pistols ready to defend against those who would attack or ambush him. As he reached a small clearing, the sky grew ever so slightly darker, and a light rain started to fall. The droplets of water, soon made their way to Gabriel's 'skin', and he started to remember how he became to look so 'human'.
10 Years Ago... Aboard The Elysium
The A.I that would become Gabriel, was nothing more than an featureless synthetic body, housed in a tank of fluids. It was then that two scientists barged through the doors, arguing like they always did.
"Dr. Wolfe, why must you insist that we make our Combat Assassination A.I's more human looking? " One of them asked in a fury, as he began making some adjustments to the tanks fluid filtration levels.
"Calm yourself Professor Hildegard. The answer is simple once you think about it; it would allow the A.I to blend in more easily with his surroundings, making the job of infiltration much simpler. One of the best methods of infiltration, is deception. Also, have you heard the phrase, 'If you can't beat them, join them' ?"
"I suppose you have a point. But still, the whole reason behind Project Silent Night, is to create the most advanced Assassination A.I; the world has never seen. Not to make them human beings. After all, they are nothing more than computer programs, built to serve a singular purpose."
"A.I's are much more than simple programs Logan. Think of what we could accomplish, if we integrated human traits and emotions into machines and computer programs, they would have the potential to gain sentience, they could evolve to have human like intelligence."
"That is besides the point Eliza. We were tasked with creating Combat A.I's, not human beings. But I can see there is no attempt in trying to reason with you. I shall get Section Five to develop a synthetic skin; to go along with this synthetic body that you convinced the Advisory Board, was a good idea to include within the project." Logan remarked with an unpleasant sigh as he stormed out of the room.
All who remained in that research lab, was Professor Eliza Wolfe, and the being that would become Gabriel. Eliza removed one of her gloved hands, revealing the cybernetic prosthesis underneath. She then placed her hand on the glass of Gabriel's tank. Knowing that she was alone, she began to talk in a soft motherly voice.
"You can relax, my son, soon, very soon, you shall be born."
Back in the Present...
Gabriel's mind returned to reality, as it became lost in some old memories as it were. He carried making his way through the jungle, and soon saw the colony outpost on the horizon.
